The youngest Shannon sister has her heart tested when her secret crush ropes her into his struggle to give his niece and nephew a safe and magical Christmas season none of them will ever forget. I thought I was ready for all the expected feels between the holiday time and the romance, but these two children and the romance pair who selflessly gave of their hearts to them gave me a delightful gift wrapped in a beautiful bow.

A Convenient Christmas Proposal is the second in the Shannon Sisters series and is a standalone story though I was glad to have gotten it after the first which introduced Kelly's family and Mick's brother's family in the earlier book.

Patrol Officer Kelly Shannon is struggling with guilt. She didn't cause the accident on a DUI situation that killed Mick's brother, but her doubts that she might have prevented it leave her vulnerable when Mick involves her in helping him keep an eye on his vulnerable niece and nephew. He doesn't want the kids put in the system and strong arms Kelly to help him work to keep that from happening. They lost their dad and their mom's struggle with alcohol and minimal parenting has gotten worse.
Mick is a newspaperman and he is willing to take on the kids, but Sharon won't give him custody and he knows that her destructive habits make for a troubling and potentially dangerous situation. Instead, he can only keep an eye on things and once in a while take the kids for a respite. Mick was raised rough and didn't have any good Christmases so he is determined that the kids get one loaded with all the traditions and excitement. Kelly willingly helps.
Somewhere in it all, the pair learn they are a good team in quasi-parenting and for each other, but their pasts hold them back and then there are the kids who must come first. Will the promise of family and the magic of Christmas be enough to bring them together?"

The children and their mom's situation was heartwrenching. I wanted to pity Sharon for not being able to cope, but the author carefully made it clear that this went beyond grief for a lost husband and father and into habits that had been there all along. The home life and behavior of Sharon and the kids was spot on. My career was in family social work and I saw that situation way too many times.

Mick has a past not unlike what his brother's kids are going through so he has a strong aversion to going through the proper channels involving officials who may decide to put the kids in the system rather than grant him custody so he is hard on Kelly. Kelly wants to do it by the book and grew up safe and stable so trusts the system to do the job and makes sure the kids are where they need to be. Mick sees their different upbringing and the way the town treated their two very different families over the years and current family reputations as a barrier to them being more than friends. Kelly doesn't care about all that, but she was scarred by a father who left the family after each child was born and left for good after her and she is the last born after two very talented and strong-charactered sisters so doesn't see what she has that would interest a driven good-looking guy like Mick. This added a tension and conflict that spiced up what was already a sweet and adorable series of romantic encounters and new-forming family moments.

Sidenote, those who enjoyed the Bitterroot Mysteries will spot a snazzy crossover moment. I thought that was a great surprise.

Charlotte North continued as series narrator and once again, I loved how she voiced the characters and got to see her talent extend past women and men to young children. She put so much feeling into the story without over- doing it. Definitely want to check out more of her work.

All in all, this was a beautiful, touching holiday romance and more. I will definitely be re-listening to this one and can't wait for the audio release of the third story. Those who enjoy heart-felt small town holiday romances should grab this one up.

My thanks to Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to the book in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet story but a bit of a nail-bitter.

A Convenient Christmas Proposal by author C.J. Carmichael is book two of The Shannon Sisters series. While this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend you read book 1, A Cowboy's Proposal prior, for a more thorough reading experience. I have read many of this author's works and have enjoyed them all. In particular, I love the Christmas ambiance of the small Montana town of Whitefish.

Mick and Kelly.....
Kelly is a police officer for their hometown. She takes her job seriously and she is standardly a by-the-book officer. One night. while on duty, Kelly is following up on a call about a possible DUI. Before she even has the chance to make her presence known by flashing her lights and turning on her siren, the driver speeds up and looses control of his car and crashes. Danny, who I met in book one was killed instantly. While Danny hasn't been an upstanding citizen, Kelly is heartbroken. You see, Danny leaves behind an older brother, wife and two adorable small children. I'm going to say that for me, Billy and Mandy, were the story. It was their well-being that kept me fully engaged and nail biting at times.

Mick is heartbroken about losing his brother the way he did. However, because of Danny's lifestyle and choices, Mick wasn't surprised. Though he is grieving, his first priority is taking care of Danny's family; especially his adorable niece and nephew. Unfortunately, Mick's sister-in-law has her own issues of drug abuse and her first priority is not her children. I won't go into details as there is a bit of suspense to the story and I wouldn't want to ruin that aspect for you.

To sum this book up, A Convenient Christmas Proposal is emotional and sad at times. But there is hope and healing. Mick and Kelly get off to a slow start and that is just how it should have been given the circumstances. I enjoyed catching up with characters from book one and there is even a pleasant surprise for the Shannon sisters that I didn't see coming. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I think that one will be the most emotional of the three.

This is my honest and unbiased review and I thank you for taking the time to read it.

From tragedy, comes a story of hope and love in this festive romance with two delightful children and a couple who have been attracted to each other for years but never been anything more than friends.....

Patrol Officer Kelly Shannon was devastated when the driver she was attempting to stop skidded on ice and crashed, killing himself. What made it worse was she knew him, he was the younger brother of her friend and secret crush, Mick Mizzoni. When Mick asks for her help keeping an eye on his young nephew and niece because his grieving sister-in-law is neglecting them, she's happy to help and spend time with all three of them. Can these two youngsters help bring them together? Maybe they'll have a Christmas miracle this year!

It was great to catch up on all the Shannon sisters again but I don't think you need to have read the first book, A Cowboy's Proposal, to enjoy this one - though I did enjoy that story, too! This story has great characters, family drama, surprise revelations and plenty of festive fun. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this delightful genre!

Thanks to Tule Publishing for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

My heart turned to mush at the end of this lovely story though along the way I went through the full gamut of emotions including anger. A Convenient Christmas Proposal is a romance, a Christmas story and a story about family love and support but it also deals with the difficult topic of child abuse, which is something I just can’t fathom. Author CJ Carmichael handled the subject sensitively and thankfully the children in question had two guardian angels.
Kelly Shannon, a police officer in the small Montana town of Whitefish, has been watching out for Billy and Mandy after witnessing their drunken father crash his car and kill himself. Kelly is a strong woman whom I admired. She’s a natural nurturer and protector and I loved watching her growing relationship with the children.
Mick Mizzoni, older brother of the children’s father Danny, is another natural protector. I was so impressed with the way he just stepped in and did his best to care for Billy and Mandy when their mother was passed out drunk. I was also angry with a system that chooses to keep vulnerable children in at risk situations when they have a safe and loving alternative.
With all my rambling about the children you might wonder if this is, in fact, a romance. Well yes, yes it is, and a lovely one at that. Mick and Kelly have been friends for years. Watching them grow closer as their story unfolded was an absolute pleasure.
This story was almost certainly a difficult one to write and for some readers it may be a difficult one to read but it’s packed with love, caring, happiness and joy and I could ‘t stop turning the pages.

I usually pick up a Harlequin for a bit of brain candy. Usually it's romance lite, and I don't have to think too much. This one was more than that. I really felt for all the poor children went through. The author did a good job of exploring all the family relationships for the most part.

This lost a star for me because the "I love her, but can't tell her" / "I love him, but can't tell him" was a bit annoying towards the end. It bordered on the "big misunderstanding" theme that I really detest in romance. And after they'd communicated so well throughout the novel, it really irked me, as it didn't seem to fit.

The sex in this book is behind closed doors, if that's what you're looking for. There are a few sensual scenes, but the actual act itself isn't described in detail. And I didn't feel the book needed it.

I enjoyed that this novel is set in Canada, as I'm Canadian, and most contemporary Harlequins are set in the US, England, or Australia.

While this wasn't a keeper book for me, I will be on the lookout for more books by this author.

Oh how many feelings and emotions this book brought out in me, although I didn’t break down and cry my eyes misted a few times. I have read and enjoyed other books by this author so I was expecting a good read but what the little ones in this book did in bring out my empathy and sympathy and just all over caring for Billy and Amanda was so not expected, and how awesome it was that some of the story line was from Billy’s point of view, what a great protective big brother with a whole lot of common sense for a five year old.
Oh and might I mentioned that Kelly and Mick’s romance was so sweet, so slow and heart warming and keep an eye out for Poppy’s story it got me as well.
Score CJ for writing a book I cannot write a good enough review for it to do it justice !
I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my review.

This series centers around three strong Montana sisters who have to overcome many obstacles to find love.
Kelly Shannon is a patrol officer who is carrying a misplaced guilt after a driver, driving under the influence, crashes into a tree and dies. More devastating was the fact that she knew him.
Mick Mizzoni is a journalist in the local paper, and the brother of the deceased. He’s also the “boy” she had a crush on in HS.
His brother left behind a 5 year old son, too serious for his age, a two year old girl that has stopped talking since the death of her father, and a wife that not only neglects her children regularly, but has an addiction. All Mick wants is to help the kids and even have custody of them. He embarks Kelly’s help in giving the kids a wonderful Christmas. One like he never experienced it in his childhood with his drunken mother and absent father .
But in helping , Kelly’s view of life as black and white , gets blurry.
Will Mick be able to help the kids? Will Kelly help him? Will each of their past interfere in finding happiness in the present and the future?
Though I am partial to book one, this one was still a good story. A reminder that our childhood does in fact affect us as adults . Also that life is really different shades of gray.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I adored this book so much I sat and read it all the way through. The characters were perfect, Mick a loving and devoted uncle, two kids who have suffered great tragedy and lived a difficult life and Kelly a cop who wears her heart on her sleeve and has so much love to offer. The story has a bit of intense drama and suspense leaving you rapidly going through the pages to see if everything turns out okay yet also is loaded with the feel good of the Christmas season. Would definitely recommend this book.

Kelly Shannon is an honest and hardworking woman who loves her job as a police officer. But a call about a DUI changes her life when the said car crashes and the driver, Danny, dies on the scene. Even though Kelly has followed all the protocols, in the aftermath of the trauma, she still feels somehow responsible. Especially because Danny left a wife and two really young kids behind. Mick Mizzoni, a journalist, has spent most of his adult life trying to keep his brother out of trouble. The loss of his brother hits him hard, but he has no time to grieve as his sister-in-law spirals and he becomes the temporary guardian of his niece and nephew. Trying to hold down a job while helping his nice and nephew to grieve and transition into a new life was a bit more than he could handle on his own. And so he turns to Kelly for help.

Kelly and Mick have had completely different life growing up. Their backgrounds are as different as it could be. Yet, they are both honest and loving and their dreams for their futures are also very similar. Add some physical attraction and chemistry - it is indeed a recipe for a HEA. As the protagonists, they both are characters that are easy to like. But this book is more than about a romance between them.

I'm sorry but I just couldn't read this book. I got to page 24 and that was that. I mean, the chick was an officer who killed a man with ill intent AND THEN decides to stalk his family saying the mom is unfit! Not my kind of thing.

I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book in the Shannon Sisters series that is set in Whitefish, Montana. We met the three Shannon sisters in book one. This book is about Kelly Shannon who is a police officer in Whitefish. At the beginning we learned that she is trying to overcome her guilt feelings at a recent DUI when she was on duty and the guy was traveling too fast and hit a tree. She knew him from school, Danny Mizzoni. He had a history of substance abuse and left behind his wife Sharon (who had the same problem) and their 2 small children, Billy and Amanda. Kelly also knew his brother Mick, who was a journalist for the paper. Kelly and Mick would sometimes collaborate on stories. They also secretly had a crush on the other but their interactions were strictly professional. Kelly was the one to deliver the news to the family.

It becomes apparent to Kelly that Sharon’s drinking is causing her to neglect her children. Mick is trying to step in as best he can to help. Sharon won’t let him be responsible for them. Kelly wants to report Sharon to the authorities but Mick talks her out of it. They both try to watch out for the kids. Finally Sharon admits to Mick that she needs helps with them. So he brings them to his house. As it is Christmas time, Kelly suggests ideas for them to do Christmas activities. Mick confesses that none of them knew much about normal Christmas things like having a tree, baking cookies, decorating, etc. So Kelly helps them and joins them for some of the activities. The children are so adorable and the reader’s heart goes out to them. I also felt bad for Mick and Danny’s childhood as he shared stories with Kelly. He had grown up poor, without a father and an alcoholic mother. He and Danny ended up in foster care briefly and he didn’t want that for his niece and nephew.

Throughout the book, Kelly and Mick spend a lot of time together with the children and also alone. They are able to share their past histories and their hopes for the future. Their romance progresses slowly but sweetly. In addition to this main plot with Kelly, Mick, Sharon and the children, there are also some surprises that include Cathleen’s lodge manager that we first met in book one, Poppy.

I loved the book, the characters and the storyline. C.J. Carmichael writes such wonderful romantic suspense. The background on Mick and Danny as well as Danny’s children pulled at the heartstrings. Kelly and Mick were so enjoyable together. I am looking forward to the next book. I give this one 5 stars!

A Convenient Christmas Proposal by C.J.Carmichael
She’s the Christmas light in a world that seems so dark…
When Patrol Officer Kelly Shannon answers a suspected DUI call that results in the suspect’s death, she has to deliver the grim news to his young family, including his brother—her friend and crush, Mick. Kelly convinces herself that she’s only making amends when Mick begs for help looking out for his niece and nephew as his sister-in-law grieves and neglects her young children. But as Christmas approaches, Kelly admits the truth. She’s falling in love.
Journalist Mick Mizzoni spent his life trying to keep his younger brother out of trouble. When he gains temporary guardianship over his niece and nephew, he crosses the professional line he drew years ago and turns to Kelly Shannon for help. As she embraces him and his new family, she gives him hope that this Christmas could be different.
With their happiness hanging by a thread, Kelly hopes for a Christmas miracle, but Mick, who’s not as jaded as he thought, wants so much more.
This is Kelly Shannon and Mick Mizzoni's story.
She’s the Christmas light in a world that seems so dark…
Kelly Shannon could remember every face and name of the victims she’d had to deal with in her eight-year career with the Whitefish Police Department, but she knew none would weigh on her as much as Danny Mizzoni. And here she was, about to meet with Danny’s older brother Mick, at Mick’s request.
everywhere.
Though it was early December she wasn’t in much of a holiday mood.
Recognizing Mick Mizzoni’s voice she turned and spotted him at a table close to the potbellied stove at the back of the café. As always, her heart did a little skip when she saw him. Mick had olive-toned skin, dark wavy hair, sensuous lips and warm brown eyes. He had the physique of a Navy SEAL— tall and broad-shouldered— which was totally wasted on his job as editor and journalist at the Whitefish Journal.
That combination of brain and brawn got to her every time. They’d known each other since they were kids and before Danny’s death they’d had an amicable relationship.
He often came to her for information when he was working on a story for the Journal. They crossed paths now and then in social settings, too.
I highly recommend reading.
A Convenient Christmas Proposal by C.J.Carmichael is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by C.J.Carmichael.

During the holidays, family and hope are important. In C.J. Carmichael’s A CONVENIENT CHRISTMAS PROPOSAL (The Shannon Sisters, book 2) takes these and wraps them into a delightful Christmas story. Carmichael has given us a well-written story that will melt your heart with its irresistible characters and sweet romance tied together with family Christmas traditions.
Officer Kelly Shannon is full of guilt when a routine DUI call results in the death of Danny Mizzoni, father of two young children and younger brother of friend, Mick Mizzoni. Mick has spent his life watching out for his little brother, and with his tragic death, he plans to do all he can for Danny’s wife and kids. Unfortunately, what was already a tenuous situation spirals into neglect and Mick uses Kelly’s guilt to rope her into helping him keep and eye on his nephew and niece, trying to avoid child services and the system he had first-hand experience with as a child. When Mick is granted temporary custody, Kelly is there to help and introduce all three to Christmas traditions Mick didn’t even realize he missed. Can they overcome Mick’s perception that his upbringing puts Kelly out of his league?
I adored Mick’s nephew and niece. They were so sweet and open to new experiences and traditions, and so full of love, ready to be taken care of and treasured. I also loved that Kelly’s family was so welcoming and supportive. Both Kelly and Mick had a tough time growing up, but it was heart-breaking to see the differences in how their Mothers reacted to the challenges.
Carmichael’s books are always a must-read for me. She has a way of writing stories with settings and characters that rope you in and make you feel a part of them. This is another that I didn’t want to end. I loved that there was an unexpected twist that added more celebration to Christmas. This is part of a trilogy (there is one more Shannon sister!) but it can be read on its own.
Perfect for the season, and the time. Instead of going out, pick this book up and let the love, warmth, and joy of the story surround you.
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy of this novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

There are times when a story will simply break my heart. A Convenient Christmas Proposal is one of those times. In the second story in The Shannon Sisters series, Kelly and Mick will face a difficult, emotional situation from different points of view but at the core, their hearts are always with two little innocent children who need the love and guidance of two caring adults to put them first in all things.

Although Kelly was not at fault in any sense of the word for the fatal DUI accident that took the life of Mick’s brother and left behind a destroyed woman and two sweet children, she still carries some guilt for not being able to, in her mind, do enough to prevent what happened. She’s a firm believer in trusting the system to do right, unfortunately, Mick doesn’t and has the personal experience to back that impression up.

A Convenient Christmas Proposal combines the aftermath of grief with the hope held tight for a better future. I wish I could have had more empathy for Mick’s sister-in-law but her problems didn’t just begin with her husband’s death, they’d been there all along perhaps not so ‘in your face’, but there. Amanda and Billy were so sweet, and so in need of their uncle’s care right now for their mother was actually putting them in danger. When Mick convinces Kelly to help him with the children everything will begin to change – but will it be enough for a happy ending for everyone?

An emotional romance, A Convenient Christmas Proposal is a slow burn for Mick and Kelly and brings several people together at just the right moment in their lives. There were tears, but there was also laughter, healing, acceptance, and a chance at love to last a lifetime. I was easily caught up in this story and loved every moment spent with these characters… even the sad ones.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

A Convenient Christmas Proposal (The Shannon Sisters #2) by C.J. Carmichael is a sweet, heart tugging story of friendship leading to love. Families, good and bad are looked at under a magnifying glass in this story of Kelly and Mick. Their families have losses and sorrows but also are vastly different. Yet it is such a hopeful story showing how the future holds such promise for all.

This well-developed story has suspense especially in the future of Mick’s nephew and niece but no real mystery like the first. The romance takes secondary importance to the needs of the children which felt right. Families are not simple but messy with the generation before affecting the present one. The perfect balance between the family issues and the blossoming relationship between Kelly and Mick. I enjoyed it immensely.

Not to give anything away there is one little mystery or twist that comes to light in this story. If you had read the first book in the series perhaps you had the same questions that I did. Those questions grew bigger as this story progressed. I was glad all was revealed without having to wait for the third book. It is not something so important to the reader that the series must be read in order.

Lastly my big takeaway from this outstanding story is part of a Christmas prayer, “Thank you also for the gift of young children at the table. Through their eyes we see the great abundance with which we are blessed. Amen.” May we all see the ways in which we are blessed at Christmas and all the year through. Thank you, C.J. Carmichael for that lovely reminder.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Kelly and Mick’s story in A Convenient Christmas Proposal by CJ Carmichael, book two in her Shannon Sisters series is a tale filled with emotions, family, and love. While in pursuit of a suspected DUI driver, Patrol Officer Kelly Shannon witnesses the fatal accident as the car leaves the road. Delivering the awful news to the driver’s young family and his brother, her friend and crush, Mick, is way harder than she ever expected. As grief affects the victim’s wife, leaving her young children unsupervised and neglected, Kelly takes time to drive by their house, worrying and feeling guilty for her role in their father’s death. Journalist Mick Mizzoni spent much of his life trying to keep his younger brother out of trouble. When he gains temporary guardianship of his niece and nephew he turns to Kelly for help. At first, Kelly convinces herself she is helping Mick to make up for the guilt she feels for the accident. As Christmas approaches, Kelly finds herself falling for Mick and the children; giving Mick hope that maybe this holiday could be different. It will take a Christmas miracle for Mick and Kelly to get what they truly want; love and an instant family.

Ms Carmichael wrote a wonderful, intriguing, and emotional story that is definitely not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with chemistry, adventures, loving sisters, and charming characters giving Kelly and Mick a chance at love. I highly recommend A Convenient Christmas Proposal to other readers and look forward to the next book in this series.

A Convenient Christmas Proposal is book #2 in the awesome Shannon Sisters Romance series by C. J. Carmichael. Whitefish Police Officer Kelly Shannon is tortured over an attempted DUI traffic stop turned fatal accident that claimed Danny Mizzoni’s life. Danny’s half-brother Mick, enlists Kelly’s help with his efforts to safeguard Danny’s small children, Billy and Mandy. Mick grew up in a very dysfunctional family, but worked his way through college and into a prominent position as a local journalist. Mick has never shied away from a challenge, but caring for his niece and nephew, and attempting to cajole his addicted sister-in-law to reclaim her life are proving to be a Herculean task. Adding in a growing attraction between Kelly and Mick seems pointless, but Mick needs his life too. A life that includes Kelly, and Billy, and Mandy!

No author writes Montana the way C. J. Carmichael does. You’re surrounded by golden larches, and winds cascading off of the Bitterroot Mountains, and the great people of Montana. Kelly and Mick are joined by old friends, Kelly’s family, and an unexpected new family member from a long-ago time. This story is a beautiful tale of a young man, who has solemnly earned his way in life, who works hard, and will pay any price to give his niece and nephew a life different from the one that he survived. This young man also discovers love for the woman of his dreams. Will he be able to cherish both? Nothing would make Kelly happier.

This is the second book in The Shannon Sisters series and it is based in Whitefish Montana. This area is off of Glacier National Park. At the beginning of the book, we learn about the DUI death of one of the characters that drove me crazy in the first book. The town Sherriff Kelly Shannon was involved and we learn all about this as she is talking to his half brother Mitch. Now that the scene is somewhat set let me tell you a little bit more about this book, It's not a cookie-cutter Christmas book BUT it is a book that has 2 kids in it, oh yes I forgot about them and a mother who well cared more about the booze than the kids. This is one of those books that I found myself reaching for the tissue as i was reading many times, But I also took note of things from this book of cool ideas the book that I can do with my family. Our author made sure that Mitch and the kids while they might have not have started out in the best family they did at least get to have a good holiday experience and maybe more. This is one of the kinds of books I like to read because it IS real life and down and "dirty realism". If this were to be a movie later it would be on Lifetime Christmas. Hope So,

Heartfelt and moving

Kelly Shannon and Mick Mizzoni team up to save Mick’s brother Danny’s children after he dies in a car accident. Danny’s wife is on an alcohol and drug binge and is neglecting the kids. Mick wants to bring the kids into his own home and raise them, but he needs Kelly’s help being as is a police officer. For Kelly, this is perfect because she has had a crush on Mick for a long time. It takes a Christmas miracle and the help of two little kids for Kelly and Mick to finally come together.

I was drawn into this story right away. I went through a wide range of emotions as I was reading, especially for the children. They just deserved a better life and Mick was such a wonderfully devoted uncle and deserved custody of them. Kelly’s part of the story was also very touching. I felt bad for the grief and guilt she felt over Danny’s death and how she wanted the best for the children too. If you’re looking for a Christmas romance with a little more to the story, grab this book. It is part of a series, but it can definitely be read on its own.

A beautiful Christmas romance full family, traditions and a sweet romance. Kelly is the town sheriff and is feeling a little saddened over a DUI with a fatality, leaving two little kids without a father at Christmas time and an alcoholic mom . Mick is single and the uncle to these two little ones, he will do anything to keep these two safe, not wanting the holidays when he was growing up. Kelly soon teams up with Mick to provide a wonderful Christmas holiday season. Of course they can't deny the chemistry that they share.

This was a story that I read in one sitting, full of emotion. I must admit I did get a few misty eyes at times. Love this family, immediate and extended. My heart broke for the two littles but loved how their uncle stepped up.

This is the second book in The Shannon Sisters but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this book.

Do not let the title fool you, I will say I thought I had it all figured out and this book was going to be so predictable, I was quite wrong. This book was a really cute story yes a tough subject to discuss when it involves children but so worth the read. I loved that Mick was willing to take up for his younger brother and loves his niece and nephew like his own children. I loved Kelly and her big heart and even though she skeptical she's is willing to give people a chance to prove her wrong or right why still doing the right thing. Over all this was a really good story I love reading or seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child it really does give you a different perspective. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is a feel good Christmas story that ends happily. Sorry to say that there are too many real life stories similar to this that don't. When police officer Kelly attempts to stop a drunk driver he speeds up and is killed. In their small town most people know each other and Kelly knows the driver's brother, Mick. Now the two of them are attempting to keep the 2 small children out of the foster system as their mother is also an alcoholic. Sort of predictable but in a good way. This is book 2 in the Shannon Sisters series and can be read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Police office Kelly Shannon is still haunted by the DUI turned fatal one car accident. When the victim's brother Mick asks her to help look out for his brother's kids she knows it won't be easy. She has to enforce the law while he wants to give the widow a chance to straighten out her life and care for her kids. When Kelly has to step in and Mick is given temporary custody everything changes. It makes both of them long for a family of their own. Is making the kids Christmas special all that they share or is there more to it? They will have to face their true feelings and decide if they could be more. Good read.

Interesting story--Good read for holiday

Kelly is a police officer in her home town. Mick is an editor. Mick''s brother Danny was recently killed in an auto accident. He was found to have been drunk. His wife is not dealing well, and their two children are 5 and 2. Billy, the 5 year old, is taking care of his sister Amanda, because their mother is drinking too much alcohol. Mick wants to take custody of the children, but their mother does not want to give them up, even though she's not able to care for them. Kelly drives by the house to check on them. And, she realizes that she wants to help Mick with the issues. Great story

Smooth read that I just sat and read and read. I was invested in the characters and all the emotions. Wonderful main characters as well as secondary characters. The children, oh my heart broke for them, but they had guardian angels in the form of Uncle Mick and Officer Kelly. Written with beautiful details that I felt I was in the story. A bit tragic tale balanced nicely with the magic wonder and beauty that the Christmas season brings. Highly recommend. A Christmas romance by CJ Carmichael is always a sure thing!

This is the second book in this series and a really great addition to the first book. This book was so heartwarming but also heartbreaking at the same time. As I was reading this book, I had a box of tissues at hand. Kelly and Mick were so great together and how they joined forces to help the kids just warmed my heart. I cannot say enjoy good things about this book to do it justice. If you are looking for a Christmas read that will show you how magical Christmas can be then pick up this book. I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mick and Kelly

Kelly is a local cop in Whitefish and witnessed the accident that killed his brother Danny. She's feeling guilty and helps Mick watch over Danny's kids, Amanda and Billy. Their mother is neglecting them and wallowing in her grief and drinks way too much.
I love the slow build of their friendship into a budding relationship between Kelly and Mick. Having to deal with Sharon was no picnic but they were all on the side of what's best for the children. I love celebrating the holidays with the Callahans. Poppy isn't who she says she is. Surprise!

This was such a good book about Kelly and Mick. Mick is upset that his brother died and blames Kelly. Kelly knows it wasn't her fault, but he's upset about this brother. Kelly agrees to help Mick watch over the niece and nephew. The kids were little troopers and didn't get upset about anything. Mick ended up taking the kids in and Kelly helped him. Mick and Kelly have a misunderstanding and Kelly keeps her distance. Mick realizes he messed up and tries to fix it. Secrets are revealed on Christmas Eve. This was a heartwarming book and I really enjoyed it!

Sweet love story with difficult circumstances

This was a good read that covered the very difficult topic of excessive drinking and how it can impact a family. Kelly was the police officer present when Mick's brother died under the influence of alcohol leaving behind an alcoholic wife and two children desperately in need of love and stability. Mick is determined to do is best for is nephew and niece and hopes to avoid having to deal with social services. Together Kelly and Mick do what they can to support the children and a long the way, they fall in love.
