It's amazing how one decision could change your life

Back in law school Sally Stowe and Colin Foster argued in and out of class. One night, after a study session in the library, Colin offered to drive Sally home. They ended up in his dorm room making love. The next day Sally discovered that her best friend, Beth, was really into this guy in Sally's class - Colin. Sally stepped aside and started seeing someone new.

Sixteen years later Sally is a distinguished lawyer, up for a judicial appointment, and Colin is Beth's widower. As Sally and Colin spend more and more time together, a horrible suspicion takes hold. Could Sally's daughter be Colin's?

this one makes the all-time list. a truly stunning visual narrative - i only wish the picture on here were bigger so everyone could enjoy it. is this better??

i bought several copies of this book to cover-frame as gifts, but i feel like i can never have enough copies. so the title is what it is and then the bottom-half of the cover (which we assume is in the past cuz it's a little fuzzy) shows these two young girls pointing at a dog that is in a position which raises its hindquarters (suggestively?? playfully?? it depends on your view - i would have said innocently, but there's something creepier at work here) and they are pointing at its backside and one of them has like a stick or something. WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO TO/WITH THAT DOG?? because in the upper panel the older of the two is with a man and her face looks... alarmed. like she is thinking back to this incident with the dog. will he be able to satisfy her like that dog did? is she a dog rapist?? did she love that dog?? what is the little secret between friends?? it is inscrutable!!

Well written, but disappointing. Heroine's thought process and decision making abilities didn't jive with the "legal eagle"persona the author tried to create.

The story opens with her getting ready to be appointed as a judge by the Ministry. You would think that anyone being appointed as a judge would have some good powers of reasoning. Yet, this heroine made one poor mistake after another, starting with walking away from a passionate relationship with the hero because her roommate (and BFF) happened to go out on one date with him. (IMHO, sleeping with someone trumps coffee) It was clear that the hero wasn't into the roommate. Yet she walks away from hero, starts an affair with someone else, marries him, and has the life from hell. Hero ends up marrying roommate, they have a good healthy marriage, but she dies of a terminal illness giving them the chance to reunite. Thus our story.

To make matters worse,

I would not recommend.

This was a four star read until the end. And everything was just too neatly tied up at the end.

Had me hooked from the first few pages, had me in tears by the end of the first chapter.
Reading this book was like my fingers went on auto pilot and just keep turning the pages as the plot just pulled me in.
I would recommend to all adult readers.
I won my copy in a contest.

Popcorn book! I don't know who got me into these things. Still good, although some might find it triggering in places
