This historical fiction is based on the romantic relationship between baoyu jia and daiyu Lin as the main line to describe the ups and downs of jia, wang, history, xue four big family and fall, also highlighted "a dream of red mansions" the tragic aesthetic value of a happy ending from the tradition.

This book is a classic Chinese historical book. This version is the picture version. To be honest, this book is one of my favorite picture books when I was the child. Firstly, I would like to talk about the movement in this book. Based on the original version, there are tons of descriptions about characters’ movements. Besides, there is no doubt those movements would be hard to show in picture books. However, the illustrator simplifies those sentences and find the movements to connect the last movement, which means that readers would be understand those movement depending on these illustrations. Because of this original book is written ancient Chinese language, children should have had difficulty to understand. Nevertheless, those pictures solve the problem immediately.

Besides, I would like to discuss the character of this fiction. It is hard to believe that there are over one hundred characters in this book. Most of them connect to each other but there are some main characters going through the whole story. The author establishes a complicated background, fulling of these characters. Every character has their own personality and their own destiny. I think every reader could find their own favorite character in this book.
