A human being who lives in harmony with himself can set great events into motion and be of great benefit. His actions are the expression of his mental state and thus mirror his thoughts. The source of each action is the thought.
The mere presence of such a human being is pure inspiration, beneficial for the soul and spirit-enrichment for our lives. We live in a world that moves so fast that we re in a perpetual race to keep up without even realizing it. Living in fast-forward mode with no time to breathe is sadly seen as a sign of a successful career or a fabulous social life. What we re losing sight of is that stress holds us back from reaching our full potential. It makes us uptight. And it s not just our body that s affected, but also our peace of mind. We re tense, edgy and reactive, effectively blocking the free flow of our creative energy. Do we really want to live a life where each day feels like a giant to-do list whose tasks we must complete? The decades-long work of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has proven that managing stress is as valuable an exercise as managing one s time. With body postures, breathing exercises, meditation and the knowledge of basic spiritual principles, it is far easier to combat daily stressors and stay on the path to fulfilment. The Art of Stress-Free Living will show you how clarity of mind supports your intuitive intelligence and will give you the freedom to live out new paradigms. You ll start finding surprising solutions to previously insurmountable problems and learn to live artfully, freely and happily so that you can make the most of every day.
Ravi Shankar usually known as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, born Ravi Shankar Ratnam, on May 13, 1956, in Tamil Nadu, India, is a spiritual leader and founder of the Art of Living Foundation (founded 1982), which aims at relieving both individual stress and societal problems and violence, and which is an NGO with UNESCO consultative status. Frequently referred to simply as "Sri Sri" (honorific) or as Guruji or Gurudev, he also established in 1997 a Geneva-based charity, the International Association for Human Values, an NGO that engages in relief work and rural development and aims to foster shared global values. He has reached out to an estimated 300 million people worldwide through personal interactions, public events, teachings, Art of living workshops and humanitarian initiatives. His talks and programs have helped people around the world reduce stress, experience physical and emotional healing and develop a sense of belonging. The second I saw this on the bookstore's shelf I knew without a doubt that the teachings within the pages are meant for me. I was not disappointed at all. It offers practical practices, and filled with powerful wisdom.
Jai Gurudev. The book contains highly valuable practical techniques to overcome stressful situations in life.
A regular practice of the simple exercises and meditation explained in the book could ensure stress-free life.
The profound advice given in various places enlighten the reader on worldly and spiritual aspects of life. There are many gems like this. For example:
(i) Just open your eyes: 'Who am I? How am I on this planet? What is my lifetime?' Awareness dawns in the mind, and you will stop worrying about little things like, 'this person said this thing to me and that person broke up with me and this happened with that person and I am going to say this ...' All smallness will simply drop away and you will be able to live every moment of your life.
(ii) Take this decision: 'Whatever happens I will be there. I will be grounded. God's protection is there for me. Whatever happens, I will never go down. I always have God's hand with me.' Keep your mind in peace in all situations.
"We come into this world with the first breath in and we leave this world with the last breath out. Between this first in-breath and the last out-breath our lives unfold"
A well written encouraging book from one of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's disciples. Using Sri Sri's encouraging words interspersed with Regina Bonsel's experience- it is a nice introduction to the Art of Living philosophies with practical exercises and examples.
"Spirituality means nothing else but to take the journey back home, to our source."
