I read this back to back with the All My Children cancelation notices... It is very interesting to see how much this show was about social issues and diversity... From one of daytime's first contract Black characters, interracial romance, religion in the core families, sexual abuse, gay teens and the Aids quilt and all the way to the famous gang rape storyline.... One of the things that people forget with soaps is how much more tolarence they created in the TV world--gays, interracial marriage, Middle Eastern characters, abortion, drug abuse--these were things that happened in daytime first and it was because of Agnes Nixon.

And that is what makes this such a great read is you do learn about her and how she felt about making a socially important show. She is a huge figure in TV and deserves credit for opening a lot of doors for a lot of people.

I bought this book when it first came out spending over $50 for it when I was just out of high school and really couldn't afford it. I loved it and can't part with it even though it's been 15 years. I am so excited that OLTL is coming back with new episodes!
