I can't believe they have this on here!! It's been 5+ years since I've read this but I still remember the simple, melancholy style. (The TV show wasn't that great though). Thanks for the nostalgia, goodreads

It was very enjoyable and heartwarming. It brightens up my day whenever I read the book. It is a repeatable book to read while still keeping the joy with it. It is mainly a humor story with a couple life lessons among the pages.

One of my absolute favourite [comic] books from my childhood by the Chinese comic book master (http://www.sanmao.cn/)! Sanmao is a good-hearted orphan, homeless boy struggling in the streets of Shanghai in old China. It was an early lesson on the cruelties of life, but also compassion. I sure had shed a few tears reading this book.
I am so glad that I was able to purchase a copy during my stay in my hometown last May/June [2011]. Hopefully that my kids will enjoy it as much as I did once they are a bit older.
