This is definitely not a book to read for leisure. The only people that might find this information useful are those interested in archaic subject mater such as: rocks, fossils, and dinosaurs. Judging from the picture on the back I thought maybe it would be some what humorous. The picture included a person smiling with a pile of poop in their hand. However, I was fairly repulsed and had a hard time finding any reason to read through all of it thoroughly.

A fun mix of science and turd talk. Jurassic Poop is for any kid who is fascinated by what they can find looking through a microscope. Berkowitz manages to provide interesting information about coprolites (i.e. fossil feces)and what we can learn from them, in a kid-friendly way, using nearly every socially-acceptable slang term for fecal matter there is. Photos are mixed with humorous cartoon illustrations that will keep kids (and adults like me)interested.

Call me crazy, but I actually really liked this book. My 6yo son came home with it from the school library and I begrudgingly started reading it with him. But it was actually a really interesting book and I quite enjoyed it ;) Go figure! And this is what I learned..... fossilized poop is called a coprolite. And there are people who become professional poop studiers and they are called scatalogists. And I'm pretty sure I could get a minor in Scatology after reading this book :0

I bought this for my ten-year-old son when we were in Drumheller and it was his reading material (and mine) during the road trip home. Talk about a great book for boys! Educational and on a subject matter that every little boy loves. The illustrations were a lot of fun too. This would make a great gift for any child who loves dinosaurs and would fit well in the classroom during units on dinosaurs.

Jurassic Poop is a non-fiction picture book (that was published in 2006). It tells about prehistoric poop and what scientists can learn from it. It has a lot of interesting facts and pictures to go along with them. Little boys would really enjoy it!

Absolutely fascinating!!!!!!!!! There were times where I wanted to close my eyes and cringe, as well there were times where I could not stop laughing at some of the places that the "dung" has shown up at. I love the passion that the archeologists have with their searches for historical "dung".

my only complaint is of course the world millions of years world view but for our family it provides a spring board for discussion....aside form that the kids thought the topic was wonderful...

I love to get a laugh out of kids, so it's no surprise that I enjoyed Jurassic Poop, a humorous and informative book about what can be learned by studying ancient remains. Good for 3rd-5th grades.

Pretty much everything you want to know--and much you didn't-- about poop. Lots of fun alliteration and punning. This is the kind of book that gets kids excited about science.
