A huge storm takes out the power in Grand Springs, Colorado. It leaves Jessica Hanson in a dark office where she trips and hits her head. This injury causes Jessica to start having visions. These visions include the murder of the local mayor. Detective Stone Richardson is happy to see Jessica again, but doesn't know what to think about her claims of witnessing a murder since the Mayor died from a heart attack. But when Jessica begins having more visions that seem to be true, an investigation into the mayor's death begins.
This book is part of a multi-author series called "36 Hours". Jessica and Stone had a relationship until she left him two years ago when he said he would never marry again. Now upon meeting her again, he has changed his mind and wants her back. Jessica really didn't put up much of a fight. In fact, she had loved him the whole time and was happy to get back together.
Many things bothered me about this book. The heroine would curse under her breath in a very creative way: Rats feet. Fish guts. Bat Breath. I thought that was just weird. Jessica and Stone's relationship was just plain boring. I had a hard time sticking with the story and just started skimming after 80 pages. Jessica's visions drew me into the story, but I hated the resolution of that storyline. I know I'm in the minority, but I really did not like this book. My rating: 1.5 Stars.
Middle of the road read by SS. This had psychic abilities. Turns out this is a part of a multi author series. I'm interested enough in some of the other characters who obviously have stories that I will search out the other books in the series to see how it all turns out.
For what it is worth, this is a decent read. The plot is not heavy but it is well developed. The intrigue is subtle. The mystery is not big or at the forefront of the story. The development of the relationship between Stone and Jessie is the main point of the story, as is the slow but steady growth of her psychic ability.
I really enjoyed the characters and the story of Stone and Jessie. Yes, there are some unresolved items in the story but that is the part of the continuity, multi-author series. The murder will be resolved eventually. Friends, family, fun, romance and suspense are all included. Jessica's inventive curses were a cute element of her personality. I look forward to continuing the stories of the storm and residents of Grand Springs, Colorado.
Love the story. Love Jesse's curses. She has a flare for them. The happy ever after is good.....but what happens about the murder? I want to know who killed the mayor. Shame for not telling.
