I rate higher because of the author service. Slight spoiler. One thing that upset me was when a certain character was facing death, he felt the person he would miss most is his wife. Should be his daughter and wife. I will try another book in this series because of the author experience.

Hunt the Scorpion, SEAL Team Six, is the 2nd in a series. It flows well, being a professionally written work that deserves a solid 4/5. Unlike The Bourne Identity, the book won't go down in history for having started a genre, but it does what the author intends, which is to thrill and excite. Mann is a former SEAL commando and his knowledge of the equipment, tactics, and types of adventures real SEAL commandos do is a strong point in his favor.

“SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Scorpion” is the second in the SEAL Team series. This book continues to follow Tom Crocker, the team leader, as they search to see if there is any nuclear bomb building material in places where it should not be found. All the team members from the first book return in this one. Also, like the first book, this one is fast-paced and holds your attention. It is definitely a page turner.

As much as I like the characters and the story, I continue to have some issues with it. The first book had some bad language which seemed designed to try to add to the realism. However, this book had even more bad language and, at times, it seemed just a way to fill pages. Also, the Team arranges to run a marathon in the desert, seemingly right in the middle of important operations. This part of the story seems totally illogical to me.

I love the story of the SEAL Team and find it a quick read. There are more books in the series and I do intend to read more of them. I recommend the book to anyone who likes this type of book.

I was provided a free copy of this book for review from Mulholland Books and Net Gallery. I was under no obligation to provide a favorable review.

Hunt the Scorpion is the first book I have read in the Thomas Crocker Thriller. This is an action-packed book. When the MSC Contessa is hijacked by pirates, Crocker and his SEAL Team headed to stop the yellowcake (uranium) from falling into the wrong hands. His team is pulled from a mission and is sent to the east coast of Africa.

Even when Crocker and his SEAL Team have some downtime, they are still training. They can be hurt. Most stories show the main character as being invincible but Hunt the Scorpion show that these men are human. They bleed and have tough decision to make.

I love the way the information is presented in the story. The background information is well balance in the story. The story also shows how complicated the politics are in foreign policies and the cooperation between countries.

I learned a lot about post-Gaddafi Libya from this book.

Should I be embarrassed to admit that?

Loved the book. This is the 2nd book of Don's that I have read. As in the first book it started off a little bit slow, however, it did ramp up and was extreamly enjoyable. I would recommend this book to anybody. We all know that this is work of fiction, but, stuff like this does go on. Kudos to all involved in the writing of this book. Thank you to all those allied service members and women that serve, special thanks to all the Special Ops (SBS Navy Seals, Delta etc.).

First time with this author, who obviously knows his stuff. Lots of technical jargon interspersed with knuckle biting action. This is the super hero genre in the style of Mitch Rapp and McGarvey, just not quite as well written.

Solid.

Hunt the Scorpion is the second book in Don Mann and Ralph Pezzullo SEAL Team Six novels. Thomas Crocker is back taking his team to one extreme to another last book it was climbing K2 this time it's the Marathon des Sables the 150+ mile footrace across the Sahara desert (That's crazy it's almost a week-long trek in up to 120 degree heat and through sandstorms where you carry everything you need on you.) Thomas Crocker and his team in this book are up against modern pirates and yet more terrorist. A slow start but it really finished with a punch in the gut (and yes I am a girl the end made me cry). Hunt the Scorpion is very much up to par with the first book and did not disappoint.

Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Crocker of USN SEAL Team Six and his team are called off one duty to go and reclaim an Australian cargo ship, Contessa supposedly containing nuclear material which had been commandeered by "pirates". Those pirates turn out to be a terrorist military force. The terrorist Colonel Farhed Alizadeh aka "Colonel D" is pulling his forces together and getting all the pieces needed to reassemble the weapons of mass destruction that once belonged to the former dictator of Libya, Gaddafi. The triggers for those WMD were on the Contessa. Crocker and his team; Akil, Mancini, Davis, and Richie are assigned undercover work to search Libya for the rest of the WMD pieces. They are joined by John Lasher who works with NATO and complied a list of bases and chemical planets. They started with one finding nothing but a refuge camp that was really a prison that violated every law in the Geneva Conventions and ST-6 end up arresting the three men who appeared to be the ones in charge.

The shit really hits the fan when it gets personal. Holly, Crocker's State Department wife, goes missing. Holly and her co-worker Brian Shaw are kidnapped and are held for ransom. What for is still unclear but the NATO deputy Remington and the Ambassador Saltzman are telling Crocker they will handle this, and Crocker tries to go about with his assignment. That assignment leads him to an abandoned town that housed the mustard gas and sarin. With the help of a former Gaddafi scientist, Dr. Jabril, they find an underground warehouse full of the stuff and something much more dangerous. While alerting the right people they were ambushed and Richie, Mancini, Dr. Jabril and Lasher were taken. Davis and Crocker followed and executed a rescue plan that included Molotov cocktails and stealing the guns from other soldiers. Akil shows up having managed not to get caught to help. They get their guys out with Jabril and Lasher receiving the brunt of the torture.

Crocker's patience is tested when he finds out Remington and Saltzman are stringing him along. His State Department contact, Doug Volman, has been keeping Crocker apprised with everything that has been going on the political side. Still with the uranium trail left open and despite what Remington says Crocker follows the trail and visits the plant all the mustard gas and sarin. Getting a funny feeling from the scientist running the closed plant Crocker and Akil follow him bring in Mancini to help they follow him and see him met up with Colonel D. They end up at the airport and on a plane headed out of the country, Crocker and Mancini take over the plane and head back to Libya and hand it over to NATO and NTC.

Upon his return Volman tells Crocker shocking news that send him into panic. Brian Shaw dead body was dumbed at the embassy with a note saying Holly will be next if their demands are not met. Crocker and the rest of his ST-6 team with the help of Volman track her down. In a explosive ending this story leaves on open end leading to the next book.

Crocker goes through some tough shit this book from the sandstorms of the Sahara, his hotel exploding and going under attack, Holly being kidnapped and high jacking a plane. I found it funny that I have compared Crocker to John McLaine from Die Hard and Crocker's wife is named Holly (If you didn't get that shame on you). It was a little slow to start but finished with an emotional ending.

It was OK. But the Sahara race how realistic is that for a story like this? It's like a whole bunch ideas got smashed together without proper continuity. And how many times can a special operations operator be knocked unconscious?

My review of "Hunt the Scorpion"

Once again we are allowed to journey into the dangerous world of SEAL Team Six. Bringing them to life once more. The characters are well written and multidimensional. Mann and Pezzullo have provided a story line straight out of the headlines of today's terrorist events. This is in now way my normal genre, but with numerous military persons in my immediate and extended family I wanted to read this series to get a better understanding of the situations they had to live through while they served and some still serve in the armed services.

After reading Book 1 - "Hunt the Wolf" I could not stay away. I look forward to reading more of this series and learning more of this unique group of SEALs and am eternally grateful to all who have served our country so that we might enjoy the liberties we have here at home and help keep us safe abroad. My rating of "Hunt the Scorpion" is 4.75 out of 5 stars.

Perfectly chaotic and gut-churning, Don Mann’s Hunt the Scorpion mixes duty to and love of country with duty to and love of family in this fast-paced addition to the SEAL Team Six series.
The SEALs are on a mission against pirates who seek the critical ingredient in making nuclear bombs. Their mission? Free the hostages, capture the pirates and save the day, but this proves far more difficult than anticipated and when their mission is completed the terrorists strike back at Tom Crocker’s very heart. They want to do an exchange, the pirate prisoners for American citizens, but this time, they chose Tom’s wife and a good friend. The clock is ticking and SEAL Team Six cannot fail. Lives will be forever changed as torture and death loom large and the very human side of these well-trained fighting machines threatens to overpower their senses.

Don Mann has brought these soldiers to life, made them human and given them inhuman tasks to accomplish, with barely a chance to take a breath. The turmoil is non-stop, and the energy and tension runs high as one of the greatest weapons is used against Tom and his team…love. Mr. Mann held me from page one, as I went through each scene from the safety of my eReader, zooming in on every raw and gritty word. Is this what we ask of those who fight for us? Is it too much to expect of any human? Would I be able to do what the SEALs do? All of these thoughts and more came to me as I read this non-stop Military thriller.

I received this copy from Mulholland Books in exchange for my honest review.

Jake McCallum captain of the Contessa 450-foot cargo ship is sailing with his wife Tanya and crew off the east coast of Africa when pirates seeking money and valuables hijack the cargo ship. The pirates retrieve money from the ship’s safe and were about to assault Jack’s wife when three Middle Eastern men with weapons appear requesting to see Jake’s cargo area bringing everything to a halt.

Meanwhile, Crocker and his team of Ritchie, Mancini, Daly, Davis, and a new member Calvin are on assignment in South Yemen to destroy a target named Ahmed. With their target in sight and ready to take action, headquarters aborts the mission and flies the team to the Gulf of Aden for a new assignment with need-to-know basis instructions. Crocker and his team of SEALS retrieve command of the ship and its super secret cargo from the terrorist pirates.

After the latest assignment, the team enters a footrace in Morocco for the next training exercise forcing withdrawal half a day from completion of the race for another mission located in Libya. In addition to the new Libya mission, Martyrs of the Revolution group for ransom abduct Crocker’s wife Holly who is a United States official and he must contend with the situation although he is not assigned to the rescue mission.

The next novel in the SEAL Team Six series is for a second time full of action and adventure as the team seeks and destroys targeted assignment activities. I am looking forward to reading the third and fourth installments, SEAL Team Six Hunt the Falcon and SEAL Team Six Hunt the Jackal of this four book military action and adventure series. I recommend booklovers of military engagement and escapades read the complete series of books even though each book reads as a standalone novel in its own right.

I received this novel from the Net Galley reviewer program in exchange for an honest an unbiased opinion and review.

This book is looking at the instability in Libya and the conflict caused by the Arab Spring which left power vacuums in government and civil disorder in the Northern African Countries. This book describes the violence and tremulous nature of the environments of those war torn cities, and countries. It is interesting that because of his willingness to jump into the fray, this gun hoe warrior makes connections to help him solve the metamorphic situation he finds himself in. Cocker has so much faith in his mission it has cost him one marriage and left him to find a second wife as determined as he is. Chance made it so he could save a young couple from pirates and uranium smugglers. His team competes in a grueling desert race they can not finish because of a new mission. He find himself in Libya during a terrible time. His discipline and through dedication to his work finds a plot that will take enriched uranium into Iranian mass destruction weaponry. His second wife has been captured. His dedication to work not only solves the international conflict but saves his distraught wife just at the last minute. It would be a Mission Impossible book that shows modern political and international problems. The terms and methods of missions and processes, the use of drones, and the dropped already deployed missions that make modern warfare challenging. Its not find the target shoot the target anymore, its prove that the person you are shooting at is the target before a shot goes off.

'Seal Team Six: Hunt The Scorpion' is the second book in the series, and it seems to suffer a bit from second book syndrome. Whether it founders from lack of new character development, or from the fact that it's setting up further storyline down the road, I'm not sure.

Tom Crocker and team find themselves in the thick of it again. After rescuing a cargo ship from suspicious pirates, they set off to run a crazy endurance race in the Sahara. When they get called off that and sent to Libya, things really heat up. An unstable country, a team of UN inspectors looking for nuclear grade weapons material and a kidnapping that hits a little close to one team member are all what happens over a rapid-fire series of pages.

But it's all kind of a mess when it's done and I kind of liked the coherence of the first book better. Plus, this one ends with a set up for the next book, so maybe that's a promise that things will get back to form. At least the form I preferred anyway. Still, it was a fast read, and had plenty of action. I'll definitely read the third one.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Mulholland Books, Little, Brown and Company and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

This book was great. I am glad that I picked out this book at my public library. I saw it under the new books section and I looked at the cover of the book. I thought that it looked pretty cool. I have never read any of these books in this series before so I thought that I would give it a shot. I was kind of disgusted by what had happened in the prolog. But then after that, the book isn't like that anymore. It is all stuff like action and wars and other stuff. The book was very descriptive. What do I mean by that? Well, when the book was talking about what guns they were using, it said the gun name and all of the add-ons like they actually are. It was a great book. Seal Team 6 is lead by a man that is known as Croker. The sniper of the team is Cal. Croker has a bunch of other teammates that help him when he goes out and battles terrorists and instructs his teammates on what to do. This book wasn't like the best book in the world, but it was pretty good. So good, that I rate it as a 5 star. And I think that You should take some time and read this book too. When you have time that is. This book was defiantly worth my time. And I think that the same thing will happen to you. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK. IT IS REALLY GREAT AND AWESOME.

SEAL TEAM SIX: HUNT FOR SCORPION A THOMAS CROCKER THRILLER is an exciting thriller. #2 in the "Seal Team Six",but can be read as a stand alone. I have not read either "Seal Team Six: Hunt the Wolf" or "Inside Seal Team Six" and I had no difficulties following the story. A high octane thriller from beginning to end. Follow, Seal Team Six on a journey of danger, pirates, search and rescue, nuclear weaponry, terrorist, danger, and action. A pulse-pounding thrill ride with a team of Seals you don't want to miss any of the action as Thomas Crocker and his team fight terrorism and danger. Mr. Mann is a great storyteller, unfortunately,or fortunately for him you feel as if your are there with these extraordinary men. What a great thriller. Written by someone who knows the insight into this team. I would highly recommend this title to any mystery, suspense, thriller lover and anyone who enjoys Seals.Oh, I did mention fast paced and action packed. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Library Thing.

A cargo ship is attacked by pirates. Seal Team Six is sent in to release the hostages and capture the pirates, a very simple assignment, or is it.
Why would pirates be unloading the cargo, the answer is parts to construct a Nuclear bomb!Switch locations and they are in Libya, their cover as inspectors of weapons sites. They soon discover the bomb and one of the members of the ship attackers, so seems things do circle.Crocker and his team take down the would be terrorist, only to discover that the men taken prisoner are the key to the release of his wife who has been taken hostage.

This was another great read in the Seal Team Six series by Don Mann.Based loosely on actual missions we get an inside look at the close ties of the team members. In Hunt the Scorpion we have lots of action but also we see the personal struggles of the team members. We are reminded besides being soldiers, they are husbands, boyfriends, wives, and each has personal struggles as they still fulfill their missions.
I look forward to more from Don Mann and the members of Seal Team Six.

Another great novel by Don Mann in the Thomas Crocker series. I received Hunt The Wolf via Goodreads Giveaway and was excited to receive Hunt The Scorpion as well. The author does a great job to build on the characters introduced and develop those introduced in this book.
I do quite enjoy that it can be read as a standalone and you don't necessarily need to have read the first to understand and grasp this one.
I don't read very many novels or thrillers for that matter, but this series and this author have drawn me in with the way the stories are told and presented in a high energy way that keeps the reader dialed in the whole time.
I enjoyed the varied adventures in this novel which all tied together through piratery, chemical weapons, search and seize operations, abduction, terrorist negotiations and all put together beautifully in the presentation a man trying to get his wife back who is being held hostage.

I enjoyed how it immediately setup for the next book, which I can not wait to begin reading, maybe I'll get Inside Seal Team Six and read that in the meantime
