The Psychic in You: Understand and Harness Your Natural Psychic Power

Rate this book
When Jeffrey Wands was six years old, he met his great grandmother Mary. She had been dead for twenty-three years.

Gifted psychic Jeffrey Wands's connection with his great grandmother was the first step in a remarkable journey that has led to his current status as one of the most acclaimed and successful psychics in the country. Now, in The Psychic in You, he traces his development as a psychic and describes what it's like to grow up with such an extraordinary gift. Using a series of compelling and dramatic anecdotes, he illustrates the joys -- and the pain -- that this faculty has brought him.

The Psychic in You is a book of incredible stories told in the most down-to-earth and readable way. And underpinning this exceptional narrative is Jeffrey Wands's belief that all of us have psychic capabilities, and that all of us can -- and should -- try to develop them. A fascinating read full of dramatic accounts of the paranormal, The Psychic in You includes information

• Unleashing your own psychic ability
• Contacting loved ones who have crossed over
• Understanding the dead
• Freeing yourself from pain and negativity
• Handling fear of the dead

Captivating, yet practical, this highly readable book dispels the myths and superstitions that surround psychic phenomena and provides a decidedly down-to-earth look at communicating with the other side. Enlightening and absorbing, The Psychic in You is essential reading for anyone seeking a richer, more insightful life.

Jeffrey Wands walks you through his life as a psychic - how he discovered his gift and learnt to make the most of it...including seeing spirits and ghosts. Like everything in life, Wands urges the budding psychic to practice everyday the art of seeking more than what is apparent and to always question coincidences.

This book is miss-titled. It should read 'The Psychic in ME'. It's all about Jeffrey.

This book was such a fast read that I decided to try and read till the end but even then I should have DNFed it sooner.

There were so many contradictions in this book. One of the major one's was this idea on how other psychics run their practice. Most of the time the author was all "Go team do your thang" but the next minute it was "they are all fake, only come to me or my buddies"

There was also a scene that bothered me. The author was talking about how this woman's daughter was abducted and he was like "do you have a picture of her?" so she gave him one and within a few minutes he was able to guess where she was. That's all fine and dandy but if it was that easy why wasn't he using his gift to find all these other murdered or abducted people? Because he wasn't getting paid to do so?

There were a few spelling and grammar errors within this book as well that it is very hard to understand how there was an editing process for this book.

And finally, my biggest issue:
Everything was fine at first, I could have handled all the rest but then he went on to say this:
"some ghosts are stuck on the Astral plane because they don't believe in God. Atheists in life, they are also Atheists in death. For those who don't believe, there is no process to meet God"(p.222).

Now I personally grew up Catholic myself, but I found this so incredibly rude. The author was basically saying, "ya if you don't believe in God I guess you are screwed" especially after describing the ghosts in the 'Astral Plane' as that "they are the low man on the spiritual totem pole"(p.221).

AND he said:

"Children, I believe, go straight to the Spirit World or Heaven, and so do cops, fireman, and others who have dangerous and noble occupations" (p.222)
Implying the rest of our occupations aren't good enough to be admitted straight into whatever afterlife you believe in? Also there are many not-so-great Cops and Firefighters out there in the world, so why do their sins get ignored but the rest of the world's does not.
'
The last 30 pages were incredibly preachy and it bothered me a lot, especially considering throughout the rest of the book he didn't really pull on too many religious ideas.

If you're at all curious about humans' capacity for a sixth sense, this book is really fast and fun. I'm curious about dream analysis, meditation, and just being more spiritually aware in general--not so much predicting things. I want to become more aware of my intuition, and this book offers some methods for doing so, with plenty of intriguing anecdotes along the way.

The title is a bit misleading. This is more of a memoir discussing his experience as a psychic with some toss out information. With that in mind, the read was interesting. A few spelling errors were jarring especially since this was not self published. As other reviews have mentioned, there are a couple things, especially towards the end of the book, which are problematic.

You must believe in God to reach the “heaven” stage of the afterlife and so the atheists are trapped in a different plane/realm somewhat indefinitely until they accept God (and yes, it’s the Christian god and not divinity as a whole).

The second part was that all firemen, police, and so on automatically get the upgrade simply because of their job. As we all know, not everyone who works these jobs are good people and don’t deserve a free pass because of their job.

The third part that stood out a bit strangely was that throughout the majority of the book, the dead are safe and harmless. They only want to help the living. Then at the end of the book, it’s only “spirits” that are like this. Ghosts are unpredictable. But ghosts are also dead people… continuity would’ve been nice.

The handful of tips scattered throughout the book were alright. As someone who’s studied Witchcraft for over a decade, it’s basic magickal hygiene. Meditate, cleansing shower, visualization, and so on. The tips are far from helpful outside of that. Afraid? Get over it. Grieving? Get over it. Skeptical? Get over it. Very little practical advice to start your own journey outside of “just do it” which was a bit of a let down.

There are other books to achieve your psychic abilities. Just remember this is a memoir and keep it at that and then the book isn’t terrible.

This book is not about how to find your psychic power and start seeing ghosts. If that is what you are looking for, this book is not for you.

It doesn't tell you to believe in things, but rather talks about how to open your mind and heart to start seeing/ feeling things that are not visible with normal human eyes. The title is, in fact, misleading but still a decent read to be more aware of your subconscious mind, dreams and coincidents - whether you want to interpret them in a certain way is up to you.

I've read every psychic book I can get my hands on, and this one was beautifully written and I learned a few new things, which isn't an easy feat anymore.

I didn't like the book that much it was mostly him talking about his personal experience and who it happened with rather than him telling us how it felt or how to control it.

I ABSOLUTELY loved this book. I picked it up because I think that psychic powers are malarkey and I knew this was going to be very entertaining for me as a result and I was right.
I think that it is brilliant that people are able to fill page after page with such pure and utter bullshit as in this book in order to successfully extort money from other peoples naivete (I on the other hand borrowed it from the library and as a consequence am not guilty of furthering the transparently capitalist motives of the author)

Interesting. Quick read. Not exactly what I was looking for. It was all about himself.
