The loss of biodiversity threatens extinction of mankind. Is there something we can do to maintain or even enhance biodiversity? Imagine living in a world where humans didn't play God and instead they let nature be truly natural. People across the entire planet are currently in danger because biodiversity is slowly dwindling down. Obviously, humans use food, shelter and transportation routinely. All of these and more are cutting into the Earth's biodiversity. There is in fact multiple things us humans can do to save our planet from biodiversity loss. While reading this book I have learned the truth about how serious biodiversity loss is and the statements are backed up by solid statistics and experiments. Sometimes in life things are buttered up just to make people feel secure. This book wipes off the butter and pours on the salt. I wanted to read this book because biodiversity is a less talked about subject when it comes to environmental threats. I was yearning to learn more about it. This book reminds me of myself because I too am a cause for biodiversity loss because I live in a house, eat commercial foods and I use transportation nearly every day. When reading about commercial farming I think of the miles and miles of corn and soybean fields we have in Nebraska. Although I am a cause for biodiversity loss, I am also helping bring biodiversity back. Every spring my family plants a garden. We also plant wild prairie grasses and flowers throughout our yard. Both of these acts help out the cause of regaining biodiversity. On the back cover of the book it states that the book is supposed to cover all sides of the debate. This book is strongly biased towards biodiversity loss being deadly. I wish the other side was presented more. I also wanted to hear more about the political issues which were hardly talked about in this book. After reading the entire book you will realize that every new point brought up is nearly the same as the last one but with different offenders and victims. You should read this book if you want a clear understanding as to what biodiversity is and how the loss of it is harmful to all life. I feel that EVERYONE needs to read at least one part out of this book. This is a real issue that affects everyone and you need to know about it. This book will change the way you look at everything that has to do with wild plants and animals. This book is aimed towards people who are already environmentally conscious but would still be affective on people who are not. Anyone who enjoys a book that touches on controversial topics would enjoy this book.
