Ah, what a little gem. An online seller sent this to Tania as a bonus gift when she purchased a Coraline style yellow raincoat from her. It is safe to say I was more excited by this than the coat!
What we have is a re-issue of the first ever The Sandman comic, Sleep of the Just. Recoloured and remastered it gives a taste of what to expect in the oversized The Absolute Sandman, Volume One.
The story introduces us to Morpheus, also known as Dream of the Endless. Captured by occultists during a ceremony designed to capture his older sister, Death, he must bide his time, waiting for a mistake by his captors in order to escape and wreak his vengeance. However, whilst captured many people suffer from a variety of sleep related illnesses. What damage will his capture cause?
This has to be 5 stars. I loved The Sandman when I read it recently and even though I new the story it was a joy to read this first issue again. I may now have to buy the absolute versions as I think they will provide a different reading experience.
