This is an odd tale of a little boy, Buster, who obsesses with buttons. He can't get enough. After buying up every button in town he goes on a mission to steal the buttons right off all the townspeople's clothes while they are wearing them.
Kippy, a little girl, has had enough. She sews the shiniest buttons she can find onto a big red bag and taunts Buster into trying to take them. Of course, he follows her everywhere, losing much of his hoarded treasure along the way. Her goal? For him to learn a lesson and he finally does.
The pictures of everyone are very expressive. I can see a grownup reading this book to children ages 5 and up over several days pausing along the way so everyone to absorb the silly illustrations. It is 68 pages but this 'I Can Read' book allows kids 8 and up to enjoy reading it alone while Buster goes on his adventures.
