Billionaire Bossholes #1

Rate this book

Odio a mi jefe.

People make mistakes. Sometimes love hurts.
And in the end, all that matters is whether or not both hearts are willing to try again.

Not bad but, ironically, I expected (and needed) more grumpiness.

This was my first time reading Leslie Nortyh and it definitely won't be the last.
I definitely enjoyed the writing, the story, the smut and the characters. They were all well developed and pleasant.
I unfortunately have some complaint about the romance. It was very clichéed and tropey, in a cheesy way, and I felt like the progression of the relationship between James and Katie made no sense and kind of clashed with their characterization. They feel this super attraction
to each other (fueled rightly by their previous first night together when they had no idea they'd be working together), but I found underwhelming how they act on it even once Katie starts working with James's daughter and they decide to be professional.
Not much space is left for the usual inner-distress, indecision, struggle, suppression of those feelings they're not supposed to feel that usually follows a forbidden relationship like theirs.
In my opinion, this was one of the rare cases in which I think the story would have benefitted from a little more groveling and angst, especiallu in the beginning.
I point this out because we unfortunately have to witness to the umpteenth romance novel's unfortunate third act break up, followed by the obvious consequent grand gesture () that'll magically fix everything up.
I honestly could use a few less of these.
And don't even let me start on their first date. I'll let you imagine how it unfolded, but I'll tell you it was very impressive for someone who's not trying to impress and only wants something casual.
I also found James's character a little lacking in the grumpiness department. If anything, he was serious, but definitely not a grumpy one. A shame, because I'm always a sucker for a grumpy, sarcastic bosshole.
I loved Harper's relationship with her dad and Katie and the whole subplot that revolved around her.
Epilogue was spicy but nothing original.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for providing me this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Ups! Spoi oldu ama 😅😁bişey yok bişey yok...

Kitap fena değildi.bitaz uzun hissettirdi nedense...

I wanna thank Netgalley for the ARC:

I loved this book. James was so devoted to his daughter, it was beautiful to watch. He was afraid of letting someone in and be disapointed which is very understandable. Kaitlyn was a woman that just wanted her family together and someone that loved her. When he messed up, I understood where be was coming from and I felt like Kaitlyn didn't try enough to make things work at the end, but nevertheless, I liked it. They were marvelous together and I loved them.

Thank you Netgalley for an arc!

See, this was a good book, but I just wasn’t that into it. It felt really ‘basic’ at times tbh…

Also, I just didn’t feel connected to the mcs at all. Kaitlyn and James meant nothing to me. Idk…I saw that two of my friends really loved this so maybe I was bitter bc I read this on Valentine’s Day. Again idk..

Craving a character that's sad combo of desperate and a moron?

Tldr: Clunky writing, cringe characters, and cringier grand gesture. Spice level: flour

Kaitlyn either is getting/has a masters in social work, and I'm assuming a licensed something-ist. She has sex with James above his club. He throws her out. And SURPRISE, her next client/live in positon (not sure who she works for because it mentions her dreams of having a private practice one day) is helping James's 5(?) year old who was kidnapped- with her panic attacks/refusal to leave their house.

Eventually she crosses professional boundaries with both. Which is obviously the plot so, duh. Together they're boring because of bland stilted writing. All around, not just in terms of dialogue.

Kaitlyn as a character amps up the moron, when her addict mom calls claiming she went to rehab, and we're stuck in a position of believing Kaitlyn, can't conceptualize that it's wrong of her to invite her mom to her sister's wedding- after the sister said no to talking to her period, adding she didn't even want her mom to know she was getting married.

She's SHOCKED when her sister tells her to fuck off and not to come to the wedding. Sad/Dumbo cries to James, he comforts her(which also didn't make since because his character is Mr. NEVER FORGIVE OR FORGET)

They continue hooking up. There's custody drama with the dead beat baby mama's parents. And some business rival who's fixated on James- stealing employees/bad leaking/making bad publicity.

Business rival "hacks" Kaitlyn (she hands her phone over to a strange man that keeps showing up on her runs, despite her running schedule being random and erratic). James thinks Rival/dumb dumb were working on leaking stories to the press (which, I don't even get why stories about him were even relevant enough to merit news/tabloid interest? Except in connection to the kidnapping) and fires her.

Her mom reveals she only wanted to talk to her because of James. She cries and makes up with her sister, while pining for James.

Again. Expected so, duh. His security team discovers/gets the rival arrested for his "hacking". Kaitlyn testifies in the custody case against the grandparents, as a professional...something. HOW DID HER BANGING HIM NOT COME UP BY THE WAY?! No one saw that as relevant/a conflict of interests? Grandparents didn't know even though there was pictures of them out "partying"?

Anyway.

Kaitlyn and James still aren't talking. But she realllllllllly wants him because now he MUST know shes innocent. So the grand gesture. Sweet hell brace yourself.

This man goes on the news (because he's rich?) for an exclusive to "talk about child mental health" and he declares Kaitlyn is a "miracle worker" and she's the absolute most amazing... whatever-ist in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD and oh yeah HE LOOOOVES HER

No one else has a problem with the grand gesture being telling the world she's great at her job and sleeping with her boss in the same breath?!?

SHE'S GREAT WITH KIDS AND SUCKS DICK WOO HOO

They end up together. So. There's ya go

‘Mr Grump’ was my first book of Leslie North and it was a wonderful first encounter. Her writing is fun and I flew through the story. The spice and the story were well written and I loved the story around the little girl. It was an extra layer which made story a little bit more serious without losing the romance side.
The only thing I liked a little bit less was the way the relationship between the main characters was put on paper. It felt too much on one hand, but on the other hand it wasn’t enough? The most part was, I didn’t believe it. At one point it felt a lot like a love on first sight story, even though it also starts as an enemy to lovers-story. Sometimes it felt that the author tried to put to many tropes in the story. The relationship and the chemistry didn’t feel real, unfortunately.
But even because of that, I enjoyed this story. The way the little girl was built in the story was amazing, and I loved that part!
It was my first book of Leslie North, but I doubt it will be my last!

Thank you NetGalley for this galley. This has not affected my opinion whatsoever.

Klare Empfehlung! ✨

James wasn’t grumpy, he was a straight up jerk. His only redeeming quality was that he was a good father.

This should have been a DNF

I’m not going to lie to you.

This was my first book I have ever requested with a naked, hungry man on the cover .

You see the last time I picked up one of these spicy little books I was 8 and used to steal my grandmothers cowboy clad novels to hide in the bathroom with .

My secret is safe with all of you, right?

Well, my husband just had surgery on his man parts so I needed a little boost to you know… “take care of myself”

Well, wham bam thank you mam!

This book delivers!

Here’s a bit of a teaser :

I have a confession.
I hate bachelorette parties.
A night of dick straws, awkward dancing and being told “it’ll be you soon, Kaitlyn!”
Especially when it’s at a super swanky Miami club—exactly where I don’t belong.
Couldn’t get any worse, right?

Enter Mr. Tall, Dark and I-didn’t-know-they-made-people-this-gorgeous.
Grump supreme. His scowl has a scowl.
Especially after I knock a drink onto a VIP and myself.
He must be the manager of the club because he has keys to the penthouse above it.
A penthouse he offers to let me change clothes in.
A penthouse we screw all over.
Then, he gets a call and kicks me out. Jerk.
Told you it got worse.

Ready for worser?
First day at my new job as a nanny and Mr. Scowl is my boss.
James Morris.
Billionaire club owner, deal maker, and first grade bosshole—if the tabloids are to be believed.
Also a single dad to an adorable daughter who needs my help.

But there's no way I can take this job—every time I look at him, I’m back in that penthouse.
And from the way he smiles when he looks at me, he’s thinking the same.
Then he tells me why this has to work. Why he needs me. Why I can’t say no.

New confession?
I hate my boss.

Kaitlyn doesn’t do one night stands. James only does one night stands. Their night started off hot, but ended cold. To makes matters worse, or maybe better, turns out that James is Kaitlyn’s new temporary boss. She’ll be working as a live in therapist for his daughter who was kidnapped and is struggling with PTSD.

James is supposed to be grumpy, by title. I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be Grumpy x Sunshine. I think James is the least grumpy bosshole I’ve ever read. In fact, he’s not even a bosshole. I think the meanest he is, is towards his sister. What he does lack is communication.

Kaitlyn on the other hand, is a walking paradox. How could a heroine be both insightful (her work) and incredibly obtuse?

Other than that, it’s a fairly average billionaire boss romance. The scenes were decent and the build up was pretty standard. I mean, I finished the book in 1.5 days so it’s an easy read. Could probably do it in 1 if I had the kind of time. So it’s not bad. It’s just standard .

When Love Wins Over Woe -
James’s life revolved around his daughter first and then his business, which meant he didn’t have time for relationships. However, the moment he laid eyes on Kaitlyn, he felt an inexplicable pull towards her. Kaitlyn on the other hand had a difficult childhood and had concentrated on building career for herself, to the detriment of a social life.

Their initial interaction may have been accidental, but the moment they met after that led them to one night of no holds barred pleasures. Unfortunately, what neither one of them realised at the time was, that their night together was the start of a complicated journey, filled with moments of stolen kisses, heartbreaking and tension-filled moments, as well as family drama, which finally led them to a forever happiness.

This was definitely a worthwhile read for my Sunday relaxation time. If you are looking for beautifully written tale, that will keep you glued to the pages, whilst taking you through a myriad of emotions, but leave you wanting more, then I suggest you grab a copy of this book and make it your next weekend indulgence.

Thank you NetGalley for providing this ARC.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a book that will give you that warm fuzzy feelings. Told in dual POV.

The characters were likeable and relatable.

James was a devoted father. He was always putting his daughter first. His interactions with his daughter were just adorable and sweet.

James and Katie met at an event and got together. And things happened that caused their abrupt separation.

Katie also happened to be his daughter's therapist. And I loved how Katie helped Harper.

There were a few subplots that were really interesting. Some family drama too. One last thing, I didn't find James to be that grumpy to warrant the title Mr. Grump.

I enjoyed this book and will pick up the next book in this series!

I received an advanced reader's copy of Mr. Grump (Billionaire Bossholes #1) by Leslie North from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I quite enjoyed this novel and it made for a nice break on a chilly winter day. The main characters - Kaitlyn and James - were an entertaining pair and secondary characters were well developed. I liked the characters’ banter, chemistry, and story arc. The novel was well written and the plot was engaging.

I found this to be a very entertaining and at times an emotional love story. James is the rich, grumpy billionaire boss and Kaitlyn, his daughter’s child therapist. Harper was dealing with issues after her kidnapping and James was looking for help in getting his daughter back to the once happy carefree child. A good storyline with all the feels and wonderful, strong characters.. I loved it.

0/5 stars! I read the premise and was like "ok'; this sounds kind of fun." Then I read it and wish I could get back those hours of my life because I am so extremely pissed off. The FMC is a mental health provider that, prepare yourself....SLEEPS with her patient's father; repeatedly, with no remorse or concern for how f*cked up that is. I'm in the mental health field as well and we have a code of ethics we have to follow. One of those is about multiple relationships. When your patient is a child, their parents still hold a role in the therapeutic relationship. AKA Don't f*ck your child patient's parents. I was disgusted and still am. Clearly the author didn't do their research or maybe they don't care. But its harmful as heck when we already have stigmas against seeking help. We do not need people assuming therapists are out there sleeping with family members of their patients. Just gross.

Katie is a child psychologist and attends her sister's bachelorette party at a swanky night club in Miami. There she meets James after she accidentally spills a drink on herself and a wealthy patron. Katie assumes James works at the club when he comps the drinks and invites her to change in his apartment above the club. The two end up spending the night together until James unceremoniously asks Katie to immediately leave after receiving a mysterious phone call. A few days later, Katie is tasked with helping a young girl with anxiety by becoming a live-in nanny. She arrives at the mansion to discover the father of the young girl is none other than James, who is actually a very wealthy owner of multiple nightclubs.

I feel like this book would've been very popular during the Fifty Shades era. There are many similar themes--wealthy business man, down-to-earth girl, mysterious stalker, scenes at a nightclub, etc. My biggest critique is the lack of grumpiness! In the synopsis (and the title) James is described as a grump, but I really didn't get much grumpiness from his character. He just seems like an overprotective single dad who takes his job and child's mental health very seriously. I also felt like the third act breakup and subsequent declaration of love didn't match James' character's personality. He proclaims his love for Katie in a very public interview, even though during the first 90% of the book he is obsessed with privacy and protecting his daughter. I did enjoy the banter and the precocious child character of Harper. She was smart without being an unrealistic depiction of a kid. Overall, just three stars.

This was a great book and it had a hot and steamy night, new job, trauma counselor, kidnapping and so much more. Kaitlyn Thorn is a trauma counselor and has been hired for a job to a young child that was kidnapped and is having trouble moving on but first she is at her sister’s bachelorette party at a swanky club hotel and she hates every minute of because this is not her thing and when runs into a waiter carrying drinks and ends up wearing them as well as a stranger who offers to let her clean up in his room and she agrees because he is sexy as sin and why not have some fun and what a night it was and than it was over and she was kicked out. James Morris is Miami billionaire club owner who was checking out one of his clubs when he sees a gorgeous female runs into a waiter carrying drinks I try to save her but it to late she is covered as am I and then I offer her my penthouse to get cleaned up and it isn’t long before they are christening every surface in the penthouse but it’s for only one night and then I get a call and I kick her out but it was an incredible night and won’t be forgotten soon. Now he is waiting for the live in counselor to arrive for his 4yr old daughter Harper and as it turns out it’s the woman from the hotel who is here for his daughter. How does it all turn out and can she help Harper all the while trying to keep her hands to herself and if they start dating can they have a future together or not.

Mr. James Morris is Mr. grump. The people he hires are carefully chosen for their skills and looks but he doesn’t date his employees. Kaitlyn is sister to the bride who is having a bachelorette party. Kaitlyn is in Grad school and is usually focused on that. Her sis Cassie is the bride. James owns the club that the girls are at. James and Kaitlyn hook up. But he kicks her out when he gets a phone call from his sister, Jessica. He rushes home and you find out why. His daughter had another horrible nightmare and won’t calm down without him.

Kaitlyn is already hired for six months, in house for a rich family, helping a young child deal with a trauma. Yep, you guessed it. It is the Morris’, she is going to work for. His daughter Harper has had so much to deal with at such a young age. She had been kidnapped and more. Read it to find out more. This book is awesome. It shows that mental health at any age is important to deal with correctly. That pills should be the last resort, not the first!

There is so much going on in this book. K not only helps little Harper, but Jessica and James as well in the long run. There are misunderstandings and an enemy in the book. I really loved this book! I hope there is another book for Jessica.

I loved this story!
Kaitlyn is her sister’s MOH, so she finds herself in a super swanky Miami club—exactly where she doesn’t belong. After she accidentally knocks a drink onto a VIP and herself, she meets Mr. Tall, Dark and Grump, who offers the penthouse to change her clothes. They end spending the night there until he kicks her out. A couple of days later, she starts her new job as nanny/therapist of Harper.
Her new boss? James Morris, aka Mr. Grump. Billionaire club owner, deal maker, and single dad to an adorable girl who needs her help. How could that possible work?
I absolutely adore these characters. Kaitlyn, James and Harper are amazing. This is a super sweet, romantic story with great sexy times, but mostly is about family, trust and commitment. She finds herself in a new life and helps a little girl to regain confidence in herself while making his gorgeous dad fall in love with her. It’s super cute the way they try to stay apart but lucky for us, they don’t succeed.
I enjoy this story a lot and I highly recommend it.
If you like a hot romance with a beautiful emotional trip too, this is your cup of tea.

This is the 1st book in the “Billionaire Bossholes Series”. This is an entertaining read that is a page turner, twists, turns, romance, steamy, great characters with an awesome plot that held me captive. James is a super sexy alpha grumpy billionaire club owner in Miami and single father to his daughter Harper. Kaitlyn is a therapist working on her PhD in Psychology. Kaitlyn and James meet at bachelorette party at his club when Kaitlyn bumps into a waitress with a tray full of drinks that spill on a patron. James is captivated and very much attracted to Kaitlyn. James and Kaitlyn have a sizzling one-night stand. Kaitlyn has landed a job and is excited about being able to use her skills as a therapist. James’ daughter Harper was kidnapped, and he is in need of a live in therapist to help his daughter Harper. Kaitlyn and James meet again when the two come face to face as Kaitlyn is James’ daughter Harper’s therapist. As time moves James, Kaitlyn and Harper are moving right along. It was nice how this story touch on the subject of mental health involving a child. It was nice that James and Kaitlyn were able to have an enjoyable relationship and helping Harper.

Kaitlyn hates nightclubs but she's the MOH for her sister's wedding and, as much as she doesn't belong in this scene, she can't miss the bachelorette party. Things get even more awkward when a clumsy move drops a whole tray of drinks on her and a VIP guest. When the manager offers to let her change in the penthouse and one thing leads to another, she has another thing to drink to in the Never Have I Ever Game...a one night stand. Things were great until James got a phone call and kicked her out.
When she arrives at her new position as therapist to her client's young daughter, she's shocked to find James will be her new boss. She almost walks right back out the door, but his sweet young daughter desperately needs her help. She can keep things professional, right?!
This was a cute grumpy/sunshine billionaire boss trope, a little predictable but still sweet and steamy. I like how Kaitlyn helped Harper to overcome her fears and won over James by healing his little girl. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

James and Kaitlyn's Story . . .

Kaitlyn is at her sister’s bachelorette party when she meets James Morris, the owner of the club. After an accident with a tray of drinks, he invites her up to the penthouse to change out of her wet clothing. The two were attracted to each other, and her sister’s friends had teased her about letting go and having fun, so Kaitlyn goes out of character and decides to enjoy a one-night-stand with the handsome man she assumed was the Manager. But when James got a call, he had to ask her to leave rather suddenly, not making a very good impression.

At least Kaitlyn has a new live-in therapist assignment she is looking forward to, where she will be helping a troubled young girl, Harper, who had been kidnapped and needs guidance dealing with the trauma. But when Kaitlyn meets the girl’s father, she is not ready to see James again. Can they get over their initial experience and work together to help Harper? Will he be able to let her go once her assignment is over? Or will the three of them have bonded into a family by then?

This was a good story and I enjoyed the read. It kept me captivated but I feel cheated a bit. There are a few pivotal moments which the author rushed over or left, out completely leaving me deeply disappointed. First, when James kicked Kaitlyn out why didn’t we get to read how he explained it to his daughter and how she reacted. That was important. Then when they got back together, first it was too easy after what he did, Kaitlyn never told him about her running partner and we didn’t get to read another pivotal moment by Harper when Kaitlyn returned - this was a huge loss for the story. It was rushed over and without getting any,of the moments the story jumped a head a year,- very disappointing. I have to admit the whole time I read the story I kept feeling like the little daughter should have been named Kaitlyn and the female lead should have been Harper not vice versa. So a good read, but underwhelmed due to the above.

Title
4.5 ⭐s Would she really backstab him?

James Morris' pre-school daughter, Harper, was kidnapped by her former nanny. Now safely returned to her family, she's still not fully recovered from the ordeal. She's become closed off and fearful.

Kaitlyn meets James while out with her sister, Cassie, and Cassie's bridal party at a club owned by James. They ended up hooking up but then he received a phone call and he told her to leave NOW!

Only later does she find that her new employer is James. She's captivated by Harper and is determined to help Harper return to her previous self.

She's drawn to James but he holds back at times. Then he's certain she's betrayed him and fires her without listening to anything she tries to tell him.

Add in family dramas for both James and Kaitlyn and this story becomes even more interesting.

I loved Mr Grump Book 1 of Billionaire Bossholes. They had a one night hookup but then Kaitlyn shows up for her new job and James is the boss. If her job wasn’t so important she might have left but his daughter needed her. Kaitlyn would do anything to help Harper but outside forces are trying to ruin James. Throw in Kaitlyn’s deceitful mother and you have a whole group of problems. James is. I nonsense and he can Kaitlyn can’t be more than a hookup but suddenly they are and he’s ok with it, until she betrays him or so he thinks. Will the truth come out? Will they be able to have their HEA? This was a great storyline and I loved the characters. It has love, drama and suspense. I would definitely recommend this book. Looking forward to more in the series.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this eARC.

This is such a feel good, uplifting book to read and had everything I like in it - very likeable and relatable characters, good writing and the ‘ahhhhh’ factor. James and Katie meet one night and get together and enjoy each other’s company until Katie is unceremoniously discarded. I really enjoyed this book and reading it was a pleasure. I think the author has created two great characters that I just took to heart right from the start and was rooting for them throughout the story. I enjoyed the story being told through the two main characters perspectives. Add in a struggling daughter, family issues and you’ve pretty much got the perfect romance read. I will definitely be looking to read the next books in the series and if you’re a fan of romance books you’d probably enjoy this one.
