Reimagining Indian Education - India Needs a Revolution in Education, Reforms Won’t Do

Rate this book
How many adults use quadratic equations in their daily life or even at work?

And yet every student is expected to master 3 or more methods of solving quadratic equations. Given that many students struggle with Mathematics basics in the first place, mastering multiple ways of solving quadratic equations without even knowing the applications, and without any real life application as adults, is symptomatic of the issues plaguing the Indian education system.

India can't just afford to talk about educational reforms, it needs to bring about a revolution in education, otherwise it will miss the much needed demographic dividend. The revolution in education requires us to rethink the fundamental goal posts of education, especially in the 21st century, where the right skills and attitudes are far more valuable than the ability to memorise disconnected facts.

The only way skills and attitudes can be taught effectively is if content is reduced heavily across grade levels and assessments test skills rather than the ability to memorise information. A fundamentally new pedagogical and regulatory approach is needed to ensure that all Indian students are equipped to handle the demands of the 21st Century. Reimagining Indian Education is an attempt to redefine Indian education.

The title of this book literally gives it away. The book is a lengthy commentary on the education system, I mean not really, it goes much further than that. While reading, one might feel that the author has just put out rants in the form of a book, but no, that's not the case, there's a level of research in there. As a reader, I could understand where the author was coming from, and I think as readers that's really important to understand. The author has done well to take inspiration from his lived experiences and convert them into meaningful suggestions.
I mostly agree with author's observation regarding the kind of educational institutions we have in our country. It has not been changed for decades and there's no scope that it might change. The education system hasn't evolved with time at all, this point is brought across very nicely when the author talks about teaching practical skills to the students.

Everything else from corruption to political correctness to manipulation and it's methods, each of is covered extensively.

Overall I'd say that this book is very bold one indeed. Author has expressed his views fully. For me this book is a definite 5 star read.

Reimagining Indian Education is an insightful and phenomenal writing that sheds light upon the revolution necessary in Indian education system to improve the career of the students and educationists. The book revolves around an exceedingly informative and crucial concept of transforming Indian education in such a way that it's more in practical life in order to let others excel more through what they are getting to learn. One can come accross some of the minor instances including Quadratic Equations to some of the other major instances to signify the importance of bringing an improved change in Indian education system.
This book can be a motivation as well as an immense comment upon the importance of such an education where students get to learn life rather than just to memorize for the sake of excelling only in educational field. The Author has aptly tried to derive education to life when it comes to excel even in one's life while getting educated.
Author had a well-established writing with an appropriate stage been given to this book which is one of the most important elements of this piece carrying a genuinely crucial message.

We all have felt this at some point that our education is lacking the real life skills that we need to survive in this world. The education fails at many points to provide us with the much needed knowledge that is required to deal with real- life situations. In this book, the author has highlighted these points only and wants the readers to imagine a world in which we are being taught this knowledge in our education system as well. Many people fail at life but are great at studies. The reason behind this is the insufficient knowledge.

In this book, the author has given us some tips on how we can reform our educational system and bring some changes in the pattern of our own way of studying. I really liked this book and was able to learn a lot from it. I had a great time reading this book and I would definitely suggest this book to my fellow readers.

Vardan Kabra's book "Reimagining Indian Education - India Needs a Revolution in Education, Reforms Won't Do" provokes discussion and questions the situation of the Indian educational system today.

The author contends that a curriculum emphasising 21st-century abilities and attitudes should take the place of the emphasis on memorising facts and disjointed knowledge.

Kabra recommends limiting the amount of material taught in schools and changing exams to gauge students' practical skills rather than their capacity to memorise facts.

For anyone concerned in the future of education in India, this book provides a new viewpoint on the improvements that are urgently needed in Indian education.

With meticulous research and insightful analysis, Kabra presents a compelling case for revolutionizing the traditional educational system. The author challenges the status quo by advocating for a curriculum that nurtures 21st-century skills, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Kabra emphasizes the importance of practical learning and reevaluating the methods used to assess students' intelligence. By incorporating a holistic and learner-centric approach, this book sets the stage for a much-needed educational revolution that has the potential to empower future generations and redefine the concept of education itself.

A must-read for educators, policymakers, and anyone passionate about shaping a brighter future for Indian education.

The book has stretched the concept of education system so that we understand the biggest flaw in this system. The author manages to explain in explicit detail about the flaws in education system and how unknowingly and Indian's education system is heavily relying on ability to memorise disconnected facts.
It was an enhanging engaging and hard-hitting read and one think that it delivers information and pushes us to think, reflect and make decisions for yourself not that is shoved on you because of a faulty education system. The writing and language is easy and when talking about the book as whole it left quite an impact.

In today's polychromic era, the education system of our country fails at many points to provide us with the much needed knowledge that is required to deal with real- life situations. In this book, the author has highlighted these points only and wants the readers to imagine a world in which we are being taught this knowledge in our education system as well.

Innovative reforms to the Indian education system could strengthen the talent and prospects of the country's next generation. We have to convert to an innovative and problem solving mindset and become a nation of job creators rather than job seekers and this will only happen when people will reimagine Indian Education..
