He literally grabs her and withholds her liberty in front of their son multiple times throughout this story.
There is no justification for that.
I wouldn't even care if he was assaulted every day of his childhood, nothing excuses the way he repeatedly manhandles her and a child.
Unmoved that he accidentally impregnated her.
Like so what?
He fucked off after.
He's pathetic.
He did stuff that he knew could result in a child and he fucked off.
Reading this narcissist feel pride at a child he didn't raise.
Wow, fatherhood means very little to this author.
All it takes is irresponsibly ejaculate inside her, her failure to responsibly evacuate, the dependent phase she does alone and then he mandhandles the child and this toxic cunt dares feel pride?
Hahah.
Would never date a single father for this reason.
They are all happy getting custody a few nights a week.
Can't image calling myself father after so little fathering.
But hes a narcissist.
The child is a pacifyibg narcissistic trophy to appease him with.
Green Pilled Patriarchial Parable of Toxicity.
For the Unseen, Unloved and utterlt Unfucked Pick Mes to rehabituate the man who wants Genetic Inmortality
Beckett and Valance were given a second chance once they got over their h8te for one another. A h8te that boiled down to a misunderstanding and miscommunication. Beck thought Valance left him after he went through great lengths to protect her and purposely kept it a secret that he had a son.
Both Beck and Valance had a lot of maturing to do but once they began to openly communicate with one another they slowly began to work on The r fragile relationship. When Valance is stalked relentlessly by a psycho she leads Beck and the others into the line of fire that ended in devastating consequences.
This book ends on a Cliffhanger and I'm still mad about it.
Was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, sadly due to surgery I have been a bit delayed in reading and reviewing!
I absolutely LOVED this book and Beckett is literally my favourite of all the men! I love the connections and the growing of the characters in this book and cannot wait to see what happens in book 4. Definitely a good read but make sure to check those TWs before jumping in!
OMG what a twist in this book!! I couldn't put it down at all!! This one will consume you from the very start till the very end!!!
Samantha Barrett is an evil genius when it comes to her twists in this series and by god she left me misty eyed on this one. I was shocked and gut punched all at once. So be prepared this one also has a cliffhanger of epic proportions to set up the next book!
Beckett has been one of my favorites in this series and his book was perfectly executed. You get his tragic backstory that explains a lot of why he is the way he is now. He's broody and downright vicious at times but he's also that protective loyal guy you love from book one just a bit more intense now. He loves hard and hates even harder it seems in this one. He will give you major DILF vibes! So yes I love him tremendously and wanted more.
Valance is my new girl crush. Her character spoke to the mother in me and her perseverance to overcome her own tragic past and be a single mom made me love and feel her pain all at once. She's the perfect match for Beck and they have such undeniable chemistry from the start even with the mix of hatred for one another. It was intense and spicy af in this one.
All I can say is this book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions! I was in shock with one part I never thought would happen. I honestly didn't think this one could get me twisted up but I was so very wrong! This one is definitely a unputdownable story so don't start it if you can't finish it in one sitting! It's got all the feels here: stalker, tragic past, childhood first loves to enemies, second chance, spicy, intense, and heartbreaking are just a few things you will get in this epic story. So yes I highly recommend it and the whole series. I'm so ready for more now!!
Just when I thought the Playing for Keeps series couldn’t get any better, Sam smacks us with Beckett freaking Dawson 🥲 I loved Beck from book one but honestly couldn’t foresee the twists that were about to unfold! His past is tragic, haunted by the love of his life- the one who ran away (or so he thought)… Beckett doesn’t let his past define him though, if anything he uses it to persevere so as to never end up back there again. We learn quite a bit about him in book three, more than in the first two, so I’d say his character development is on point!
Val & Beckett are a second-chance, lovers to enemies to lovers, secret baby🙈, dark romance. Jeez, Sam, you really know how to lay out the tropes, eh? And with no surprise, this one also ends on a cliffhanger to set us up for book four. Because Sam is Cliffy Queen 😅👑
Valance, the FMC, is probably my favorite that we’ve seen so far in this series. She is strong, charismatic, fierce, and loyal. Obviously being a mother, Val’s character called to my own; like a siren singing her song. There is nothing a mother won’t do to ensure the safety and protection of her child, and we see that from Val throughout the entirety of Endgame.
EndGame By Samantha Barrett ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ 💧💧
Valance He killed…for me. I never got the chance to tell him the news before he fled in the middle of the night, never to be seen or heard from again. Four years later I finally made it to CHU. I busted my butt to get here, worked hard so I could make something better of myself, for him.
Beckett I haven't seen her in four years. Honestly, I thought I'd never see her again after that night. Here she stands, alive and well, with a kid that looks exactly like.. me!
Well Damn.. Sam has done it again. She really has a knack for making you fall in love with her characters, then breaking your heart and leaving you in a mess on the floor. I was a bit iffy of Val, couldn’t decide if I liked her or hated her, but she started to grow on me. Her resilience and strength after everything she endured was admirable… as was Beckett! Seeing him change from hardass to softie for someone other than Leah was swoon worthy. I loved it. Now we are on tenterhooks for Corbins story 🥺
I AM SLAYED! From start to finish I have been pissed off, saddened, filled with joy and then as per usual torn apart. Not gonna lie Beck and Val have now become my favorite couple in this Series...I was so happy to see Beckett was going to be the next installment, I felt invested in knowing about him and who was the one who got away. And oh man did his story catch me off guard and tear a hole in my already battered heart from Darius and Leah's story. I did a lot of crying and yelling at my Kindle, I even wished I could have been the junk puncher a couple times. But then I would feel bad and apologize to my book boyfriend for even thinking it lol. Man, I am really putting myself through the ringer with these stories...but I wouldn't have it any other way. They really get you in the solar plexus and have your craving for more...which is why, when you grab these books. Don't start with one, grab them all by the proverbial balls and don't let go.
This book was AMAZING! Talk about rip your heart out in more ways than one. The start with Beckett and how he comes about is so sad, but thankfully he found the boys. His trip away for Christmas with his friends brings back his past and it’s all go from there. Parts of this book are going to rip your heart out, I actually shed tears it broke me. I was so in the moment reading it and felt every bit of the story. Poor Valance has a stalker and she and her son Dawson are taken in by becket and his friends to protect them but threats continue to happen. One day it takes a turn for the worse and boom heartache again. Honestly you will go through every emotion possible with this book. It’s packed from start to finish with love, hate, heartache and good ole sexy time. Just one problem……that ending, talk about keep you wondering.
A book written so well by Samantha that I promise you won’t want to put down. I cannot wait for the next one.
This book was absolutely fantastic!!! We all knew Beck had a past. We knew it was darker then anyone of his friends. But what surprised me the most??? It wasn’t what he did but who he did it to.
Beck is the one who I always call the mysterious one. His loyalty to the people around him and the ones he calls family is unmatched. The bond he shares with Leah and his boys is what family is about…so it wasn’t really a shock to see how quickly they’ll side with him over all.
Valance I was little bit on the fence with her but the more I dived into their story and for her history it all made more sense to me.
Endgame went in a direction I did not see coming. I sort of want to yell and hug Samantha at the same time. You’ll understand why I say that but not until you’re more towards the end of the story. I have not yet shedded any tears until that part.
But overall once again Samantha slayed. She knows how to write a 5 star story!
If you thought the first two books of the Playing For Keeps series by Samantha Barrett were unbelievably fantastic and off the charts amazing then buckle up buttercups because you’re going to LOVE to hate Beck in Endgame!!! All throughout the series I just knew Beck was going to be my main man and dang Samantha did not disappoint and came out swinging with this one!
This is the long awaited for story of Val and Beck and man are they perfection!!! Their backstory is utterly captivating and their chemistry so far off the charts this book just sizzled with all the emotions and fire! The push, the pull, the angst, the drama, the secrets, the steam—this book has it all! And heavens I’m going to need the next one STAT because I’m true Sam fashion she just left us begging for more with that ending!!! So hold on tight because this ride will hit you in all the right places and leave you dying for more!
Again, you should not trick your readers into thinking they are reading a sports romance, even with the cover, and then have no sports in the book. Just because practice is mentioned, that doesn't constitute a sports romance. Not to mention the author has no real knowledge of American football. I was looking forward to Becketts book because he seemed pretty awesome. But I was quickly very disappointed. He is awful to the FMC. The fact that it's always in front of her kid makes it so much worse. He is selfish and self centered and just awful. There was no groveling which was definitely needed. He hated her and blamed her for what was really his fault. Not to mention, his weird relationship with Leah is overplayed and just cringe. How D puts up with that i will never understand. Again this book also has things that are not congruent with the other books.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one with the way the last book ended. This book took off right from the start and had me in a chokehold throughout. I have to be honest and say that prior to this book and again by the end of this book I loved Beckett, the first few chapters I was really mad at him and bordering on strong dislike. I was not a fan of his actions towards Val but once she called him out for what he was doing, he stopped.
This book is packed with action, suspense, and all the feels!!! I was not prepared for the amount of tears I shed. Val and Beckett's story is a tough one for many reasons and I was very happy to see them work together and get the HEA they deserve.......
That HEA came at a heavy cost and I am itching to see how the next book will play out.
Book 3 in the Playing For Keeps brings us End Game which is Beckett and Valance’s story
I’ve been intrigued with Beckett throughout the first two books, he keeps his cards close to his chest, but the end of Touch Down we got a glimpse of what was behind that mask. We get some back story for Beckett which was great to fill in the blanks and give you that understanding of his character.
Valance was introduced to us as s friend of Leah’s in Touch Down and what an epic last scene that was. It’s been four years since Valance last saw Beckett and a lot has happened for her in those years, fast forward to now and Becky is in trouble but will Beckett come to her rescue a second time?
This book had me on a rollercoaster of emotions and parts broke my heart, the evolution of this series is fantastic and Samatha is definitely an author you should follow - it’s ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me
Barrett and Valance’s love story is a first love to forever love story.
But their beginnings were very troubled when Beckett took to protecting his girl to the furthest extreme. A turn of unfortunate events split them apart and sent them spiralling in different directions.
Now Valance is back with Beckett’s son in tow and Beckett’s anger is off the charts.
We’ve come to know Beckett as the mature and nurturing soul and this “fiery” side of him seems out of character.
Although I get the anger I didn’t see the need for him to be so physically forceful.
Anyway’s Val also has a stalker and when she and Dawson are threatened Beckett confronts his true feelings and fights for his girl and his son.
Unfortunately not everyone survives this book, which is unexpected.
I devoured this book in 2 days, I couldnt put it down, I fell in love with Beckett from the first book Offside, he was always a bit of an enigma we never found out his backstory and so I couldn't wait to read his book , it was everything and more, gotta say he gave Darius a run for his money for quite a while in the arrogant mean boy stakes but he came through in the end . The story took a turn in a direction I didn't see coming at all im now an emotional wreck with a broken heart but now I need book 4 , I need to know what's going to happen next !! Wonderful writing as always from Sam she delivers every time , totally a 5 star read that will leave you breathless and emotions all over the place ? Go read this series , you will be glad you did !!
“End game” is the 3rd book in the “playing for keeps” series. I am loving this series so far. I loved Darius in the first two books in this series, but Becky this boy is everything.
When I first started this series I was intrigued and wanted to know more about him, but god we got it. I devoured his story this boy stole my heart completely. In “End game” we find out more about Becky and what happened to him in his past.
Samantha Barrett is one of my go-to authors, anything she writes I will devour. Samantha knocked beck and Valances story right out of the park. I could not love it anymore than what I did.
“End game” is full twists and turns, after that mind blowing ending I am left on tender hooks I need to find out what happens next. I am literally counting down the days for the next book in this series.
I was so excited for this book because I loved Beckett in the books focused on Darius and Leah. I have to say that this book had so many twists that I didn’t see. I think I was in shock for the last 15% of the book! I still can’t believe that ending. I was honestly in tears.
I loved Val and Beckett. Their love story is filled with heartache, misunderstanding, and so much more. They have so much that they have to overcome in order to get back together. Val was so strong and Beckett just opened up when she was around. I just couldn’t get enough of them.
I can’t wait to read Corvin’s book. He hasn’t been one of my favorite characters in these books so far so I’m not sure how his book will go but I need to find out!
Endgame Becky Becky Becky is just so hot and such an Alpha male. I just love him. Endgame was just so amazing. Another 5 star book from Samantha Barrett. It’s amazing how the past can creep up on you when you least expect it. It’s nice to see Becky and Val reunited. They are meant for each other. Becky can get to know his son Dawson. He will protect his family with everything in him. It’s so hot to see that. Once again Sam you wrote an awesome book. Endgame was the best. Couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait for book 4 in the series. I received an ARC of Endgame the review is my own. Thank you for providing me with an ARC. Love all your books. ❤️❤️
This book was sooooooooo good ! My god so good. I cried, legit cried at this book with Cody :-( I loved loved this book the emotions it brought out of everything . Val being able to show everything and explain her past , same with Beckett . Their love for one another is so strong and the hate that was there and why it was there is all explained ! The Guys are amazing The twists I didn’t expect . You need to read this book to see what I’m talking about ! But my god it was good. I can’t wait to read Corvin book.
U are my girl and I love you xoxoxox I truly do! I love love your books ! You are amazing
SAMANTHA BARRETT!!!!!! Oh man, oh man!!! I have so many things I want to say right now.
First off, Flawless! I loved every single bit of this book. It has everything I wanted and didn’t know I needed. But DAGNABBIT I am irked too! And I KNOW Samantha is not sorry for it.
This second chance, enemies-to-lovers is making me have the hardest time picking my Favorite in this series. But Becky’s hard exterior and soft gooey inside for Val & Dawson have me swooning for those Cinnamon Roll. Val is PERFECT for Beck.
Beck & Val’s Story is such an amazing one and I can’t wait for more from this series.
This book follows the story of Beckett and Valance ♥️ Beck became a fast favourite of mine, so getting to read his story has been an amazing treat!
It was a full emotional rollercoaster, filled with twists and turns that really get to your heart. Val and Beck have not had the easiest lives, both have tragic pasts which has lead them to become the people that they are today. I fell in love with Val’s character pretty much straight away! I love her strength and determination, and how she does her absolute best continuously, no matter the situation. Beck has a lot thrown at him in this book and you see another side to him as he works to handle everything, which will only make you love him a bit more.
Okay...so this one was a little difficult for me. I loved Beckett in the 1st book but in this one he's pretty abusive. I don't agree with the constant arguing in front of Dawson. He never listens to Val & just assumes the worst about her. All these men seem to be super abusive except for Saint & Crue so I'm hoping they get their own book. I'm nervous about Corvins book because he's been a dick since book 1.
I will say what happened in the end of this book was heartbreaking. I did not expect that at all. I wish it didn't happen but I'm guessing it makes certain characters grow up. On to the next....
My dearest Samantha, how could you do that to me.... That was one event I just didn't expect..... Now, the best part of this book is, of course, my Becky. Sorry Leah and Val, but you're going to have to share him. My love for Becky has been here from the start. We all need a protective, strong, and handsome Bestie who holds us through all the worst times. And just add in all those moments with Dawson, and you're melting at the knees.
Sam never disappoints. There is not one book of hers I have not devoured and loved. If you haven't read anything of hers, I suggest you go right now!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book is absolutely amazing. I loved Beckett in the first 2 books. Am sooooo glad we didnt have to wait for his story. Beckett pass comes back with vengeance. The one he always loved shows up unexpectedly and brings a surprise. Valance life has always been hard. At the age 16 it gets even harder. She honestly believes her one true love ghosts her. The twist and turns in this book is off the charts. Not only do we have the drama between two stubborn, hard-headed people, we have a stalker thrown into the mix. I cant wait to see what happens next within this group of friends.
I knew I was going to hate them love Beckett. I just know how much of both it was going to be. Man oh man was I right. Beckett had it hard growing up. Then again so did Val. That being said to horrible childhoods were made worse by an even bigger incident that set in to motion years of heartache and hurt. Samantha wrote this story so amazingly it was hard not to live Beckett at the end. There was never a time in this book I didn’t like Val. I know there is always something the FMC does that leaves a sour taste in your mouth but not this one. Also I absolutely love Crue with Dawson!!
Woooof. You got me crying at the end of that one. What Dawson says about Cody telling him what to do and the thanks Beckett says to Cody…ripped my heart out. The writing is a little hard to follow. I kept rereading sentences to figure out which person said what. Also too many explanation points were used (also in books 1&2) and that irritated me slightly lol. I’m not going to read books 4 and 5 but I will give this one 4 stars because you got me with the ending there and I’ve only cried reading two other books before.
This book had me dealing with the way Beckett acted towards his first love when he sees her again. I was livid with his antics. I was even more livid with the ending.... And honestly, it was the best read! Samantha Barrett knows how to pull you in and basically have you feel like you are living through the characters eyes yourself. I was a sobbing mess by the end and I literally can't wait for the next.
1st and foremost, this may be book 3, but Becky is my favorite so far!! He has so much mystery about him.. who knew he was capable of murder?? Valance ( very unique name, right??) has kept a very big secret... for years....she never thought she'd see Beckett again.... now she has some 'splaining to do.....
I've been a Corvin girl since day one but damn Beck came steam rolling in and did his thing!!! Val and Beck are perfect I just love them! There story is so good! 5 stars easy on this one. I'm obsessed with this world. I literally couldn't put this book down ! But man I can't wait for the next one cause that cliff hanger ugh
… I read it in 3 hours. It was perfect. The perfect story for Beckett and Val. I was worried I wouldn’t like it because I’ve read some books with kids that just didn’t gel well with me but this was perfect. Makes me sad my family isn’t like this lol. Sam is just amazing and I can’t wait for book 4!!!
