This is the second edition of A Sheikh Romance. Contains extended epilogue . A womanizing royalhole and a bookish opposites attract...or natural-born enemies? Uh-oh . Sheikh Tarif Al-Atassi used to walk past me all the time without really seeing me. But something's changed. The sinfully gorgeous sheikh now sees me as a challenge... And in no time at all, I find myself enslaved by his touch, and begging wildly for his possession. But just when I start to believe in love, that's when I'm arrested for treason...on the orders of Sheikh Tarif himself . And it hurts. It hurts so, so much to see the way he's looking at me now. Was all that we had nothing but a lie?
No conservative muslim woman who wears hijab in a conservative country can declare her sexual relationship with a man without being a social pariah! I know it's an imaginary country but then the author should have invented an imaginary religion like Frank Herbert did in Dune. Other than that, it was silly, angsty and I loved it very much. 😉
The good thing about short books is that I can read them in a day. This one was short but beautiful. So, we have a story about a broken man and a broken woman. Both with issues. Both with differents ways of dealing heart's problems. Both in so much pain. Or at least, that's the way I saw it. I'm an eater of these kind of stories. I didn't understand Tarif's obssession with our heroine. WHO WAS A REAL HEROINE, I must say. But I understood the drama the author wanted to present us, of course. I just found it lacking. I don't know. Maybe because of the book's lenght everything happened fast. But I absolutely loved the book. And that final chapter? I bursted into tears. And that epilogue? Oh, my heart, be still. Rayyan is going to be my undoing. I just know it. 5 stars ♥ I can't give it any less.
If you are looking for a HEA in this book, it appears there is none. Both Anisah and Tarif came from different backgrounds but and both are extremely heart wrenching. Tarif is perceived as the wild one of the sheikhs. Lots of women and partying. Once you read what he went through from a child through his last teens, it explains his current behavior. Anisah was the oldest sister who raised her younger sister. Appeared to be tough and firm with everyone around her. Tarif loved a challenge because he wanted to prove he could change her. Too stubborn people constantly clashing. Tarif enjoyed upsetting her just to make her mad enough to show the other side very few people got to see. Their relationship went through extremely hard times. Their love was finally tested to the point it wasn't enough to keep them from trusting each other until a tragic situation happen. Read the next book to find out. But you will not get you answer until REALLLLY late in the book.
**I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
Marian Tee does it again. I swear I look forward to reading every new book she comes out, when its more than a month I get withdrawals. This book was a sweet addition in the Sheikh series. In this book we meet Tarif and the passionate lady Anisah. Tarif challenges Anisah to limits she's never gone before. He makes her come out of the cage she's built around herself, while at the same time, Tarif is learning what a healthy love is like. I won't give away any more details but this book is a must read!! The passion, angst and romance they all go through is something we, as readers, can all relate to. Great Job!!!!
The chemistry between Anisah and Tarif is insane. Their steamy scenes are passionate and scorching, their banters are witty, and their emotional turmoil was heartbreaking. I couldn't help but put myself in their shoes while reading their moments of despair, and I thought to myself, "How does one go back from this?"
The sadistic part of me wanted to see their pain expounded and to have it come full circle, and the romantic side of me just wanted them to have their happy-ever-after. It was a tough battle, but Marian gave me the best of both sides so I'm satisfied.
This series created by Marian Tee is intense, yet funny, and brings her own brand of story-telling to a newer audience. She has two stubborn characters that refuse to admit their attraction, and when they finally did, it explodes. I love how her story is more that, focused on the story, and you get through over half of the book before anything sexual happens. She still manages to surprise me with her stories, and I can't wait to read more.
I've read these books out of order, but I can't wait to read the entire series.
Impossible not cry and laugh, not to fall in love with Tarif and Anisah, not to be afraid for them. Marian once more is superb to create a magical atmosphere that make us to want to devour the book. Tarif and Anisah are strong souls, marked by their past, that they want to keep hide, but their love need them to break their own rules and face the real world.
I love the twists and turns. Tariff is very endearing and you can't help but love Anisde because she's so fiery! Great story and looking forward to the next one in this series.
The story of Tarif & his 'Tory'; my favourite couple of this series. Curiosity does kill the cat. Tarif's curiosity of Anisah leads to him falling in love with her. Tarif & Anisah both have their own painful past which shape them as they are now but this flaw definitely compliment of each other.
The playboy sheikh supposedly isn't a playboy, he just puts on a facade to the world. But the entire plot is him seducing a woman who doesn't like him... because he wants to have "angry sex" with her. Isn't that what a playboy does? He actually comes off as a creep.
What I didn't like was: At the beginning of the book, the Sheikhs have a conversation about h. The H realizes she's been working at the palace for years but he never noticed her. The other Sheikhs tell him she avoids him because she dislikes him. Well, this is the gross part, H takes it like a "challenge" and wants to fuck her just because he likes a challenge. That's it. His strategy is to make her angry so they can hate fuck. He decides this without ever getting to actually know her or have a real conversation with her. He just harasses her. It's just not enjoyable for me. At one point he says "It's no longer like that," but I don't see how. This is during the first time they have even a half decent conversation with each other. If he's supposed to fall in love, the author didn't develop it enough.
There's such a thing as a forceful Hero in romance but this guy just wanted sex with a stranger, basically. That's not why I read romance.
Ahhh "sigh".. Right that's how all of Marian Tee books make me fell like I've accomplished something great by reading it but feel sad because I don't want it to end. Another exceptional story that levels you wanting more. I could not put it down and had to wipe the tears that kept falling.
Here you finally get to meet Tarif and Anisah and what a story from their barb comments to each other to hot sizzling chemistry kisses (n much more). This coupe just makes you feel for them with all their childhood trauma just messing up their adult love life. Anisah who avoided Sheikh Tarif and a little bad mouthed about him to the other Sheikh soon finds herself the center of attention by none other then Tarif. He drives her nuts but on the plus side she drives him insane too. Betrayal, Iove and redemption all wrapped up in one.
