Jenny's life fell apart after her father died and Peter jilted her. She was left in a state of shock.
Her father's friend Alex offered her a home and a job at his winery, and Jenny accepted. But Alex was an eligible bachelor and the townspeople soon talked.
Jenny's assurance that it was simply a business arrangement didn't quite convince them--or herself. Because if she could get Alex to forget their age difference, Jenny was sure that passion and happiness could be theirs.
The Hero was her father’s friend although the age gap is not that large (14yrs). He takes care of her when, soon after her fiancé jilts her, her father passes away. It really is a double blow and the heroine is reeling fr this turn of events. The Hero is like the strong silent type who comes to her rescue. I agree with the other reviewer, I think the Hero truly loved her, but didn’t think she looked at him in a romantic way. I think in the end she chose him because she wanted security and he was decent and protective. Definitely Hero material.
This was an okay book. The H loves the h but treats her as a child. The h just wants forever kinda love. First she has her fiancé but then he break ups with her. Then she gets another admirer but he too turns out a dud too. All the while the H being smitten by her but never telling her his feelings.
A good quick read, nothing special but it had a good sweet story and i enjoyed it. Could have been better...i understand he was an older man but not THAT older and it didn't have to be repeated that much.
