A brand new start. A tattooed bad boy. And a whole lot of happy.
Romance is the LAST thing Nora James has on her mind—especially after a recent proposal-gone-wrong by what was supposed to be her Prince Charming. After spending so much of her life living up to the expectations of others, she’s finally ready to build the life that she’s always wanted—starting with a move from Los Angeles back to Denver where she feels most at home.
But what does Nora actually want?
Andre Vasquez is focused—focused on taking care of his sister, on his managerial role at Logan’s auto shop, and on working towards the ultimate finish line for his own life that certainly does NOT include the gorgeous-but-anxious blonde who walked into the shop’s lobby with a troublesome Range Rover.
He wasn’t made for a girl like that—one who definitely didn’t grow up on the same streets that he did. But the more he gets to know her, the more he needs . . . more.
Michaela Jean Taylor is a hopeless romantic from the western desert who writes grippingly tender romance novels featuring diverse characters and messy, beautifully relatable storylines.
The term “ghetto” was used in a negative, demeaning way, when another word could have been used. For example “run down” would have been a better term to use to get the point across.
After reading that portion I become highly uncomfortable and had to immediately DNF.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an arc, but unfortunately I cannot continue this book.
Thank you to the author and BookFunnel for providing me with an eARC for my honest review.
I love a good romance with a seemingly unlikely pairing and This Love gave me what I needed and more. The background storyline in the beginning that gave context to what was to come was good though I wish it were a bit shorter and to the point. However, the rest of the book was paced well and I enjoyed seeing them start as strangers, turn friends and then blossom into something more. It didn’t feel too cliche or cheesy either. Just a couple grammar and spelling errors that need to be fixed but otherwise a pretty enjoyable read.
Nora and Andre are SO PURE. My heart was SWOOOOONING the entire time. The blossoming of their friendship was honestly so quick, almost insta-love but for friends, it was so cute 🥹
Andre is a bad boy on the outside, rough edges but is SUCH a softie, golden retriever on the inside 😭🫶🏻 he stands up for not only Nora when they have barely known each other. He changed her locks so they were stronger, he took her for her first tattoo, he took her to a fair on her birthday so she wasn’t alone 😭😭😭 I’m crying. I love Andre. His love for his family, the care he has, truly is unmatched.
Sweet, sweet, Nora. She is independent, and truly deserved so much more than dumb stupid Parker. She is so strong, and easily the most real, authentic, unapologetic FMC ever and I love her!! I love her mantra (thanks to Andre) “does this make me happy?” I will find myself asking myself that more and more often now.
I love that we got more Amelia and Logan too, I missed them and that was perfection for me.
Michaela you truly blew this away for your second novel, I could not say enough good things about Only You, This Love, and you. Your writing is so wholesome.
4.5 ⭐️ I loved the first book in this series so this has been a highly anticipated read of mine this fall! It absolutely exceeded my expectations and I love Andre & Nora SO much 🥹💗
Nora recently left her ex immediately after she declined his proposal and moved back home from LA to Denver. Since she left in such a hurry, she was having car trouble and ended up meeting Andre when she took her car to his shop to get serviced. Their attraction to each other took a back seat due to everything she was dealing with and they created a great friendship. All of the time they spent together in the friend zone had lines blurring and had Nora questioning what actually made her happy.
UGH Andre is the absolute best. He’s a completely tatted up bad boy on the outside, but SUCH a cinnamon roll and so sweet he made me absolutely melt. I loved Nora so much too, she is so strong and overcame a lot in this book but she was so real - I felt her grief right alongside her.
The slow burn in this was truly painful but in all the best ways. The tension build up was too good with the friendship they made and I had so many butterflies 🤭 It was also so funny! (magic brownies and laser tag… yes please 😂) I loved that we truly got to see every piece of their time spent together - from the very beginning when she got to town, at the bar, her friend’s wedding, their breakfast and lunch dates, the tattoo shop. So perfect 🥹
✨”I’d stay firmly planted in the friend zone forever if it meant her happiness.”
✨”Does that make you happy?”
Tropes: Strangers to friends to lovers Tattooed mechanic MMC Mutual pining He falls first Found family Slowwww burn Opposites attract
I wanted to start off by saying congrats to Michaela on her second novel being published!!🥳🩷
After seeing the teasers for this book floating around I knew I needed to read it, especially with these tropes!! And I’m so glad I did, I absolutely adored this book!
One thing I really enjoy about Michaela’s books/writing is that she writes imperfect characters who deal with struggles like anyone of us do, and it’s written in such a beautiful way that you feel her words so deeply (at least I did🥹). However don’t let that fool you bc the happily ever after is the sweetest reward in the end!!
In short, after Nora goes through a horrible relationship crisis she moves back home to Denver to start anew, on her way back her car (a gift from her toxic ex 🙄) starts giving her problems and she takes it into an auto shop near by where she meets Andre. At first glance he’s intimidating, tattoos cover his skin from the neck down and he’s all serious, that is until he sets his eyes on Nora. After he helps her out, fate continues to push them together and they realize they’re more alike than they realize.
The friends to lovers trope in this book was done so so so well!!! I loved how even though Andre and Nora had started developing feelings for each other, they respected each others boundaries until they knew that they were in the right headspace/mindset to jump into something🥹
Honestly just a wholesome and very sweet read! Highly recommend! I cant wait for the rest of the series!!🥰🫶🏼
a sweet friends to lovers is what I needed for my Monday Blues..
I loved the book, Andre is chef's kiss..
Read this book if you like: 💕Friends to Lovers 👀 Self Discovery 💕 Multi-Cultural Romance 👀 Found Family 💕 Fresh Start
Nora was loosing herself while being with the guy she though she loved, "Parker" a celebrity sort of son of a celebrity mom but when he pulls all strings to through a grand proposal she knows she had it enough and breaks up with him, moving back to the town she grew up in in the Range Rover his now ex had given her.
There is a situation of crisis she meets Andre, the mechanic but also a common friend who makes it his life mission to help her in any and everyway he can..
there is obvious attraction but navigating it with her being recently single and rediscovering her like, he has to find the way best suited for her as well as him heart.
I loved the book, the slow burn killed me but I was in it too deep..
It was a quick read and I cant wait to read the next book by Michaela <3
Omg omg omg! I read this as an ARC and I was blown away! These two, Andre and Nora. Omg I couldn’t get enough. It’s a friends to lovers with tons of cute, funny and spicy moments. Could not recommend more.
Also, for any Rio fans from Good Girls, PICK UP THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW!
Oh this book. I was blessed to receive an ARC of this book and I am honestly so grateful. This story was everything. Andre and Nora were everything and I honestly loved every part of it. Andre has a bad boy exterior but is a golden retriever at heart. The way he melts over Nora is just adorable and man does he fall head over heels. I love that he was fine just being in the friend zone just to be close to her like swoon worthy. And Nora is a bad ass independent woman and I am always here for that!!! It may have taken her a little while to rekindle her fire but Andre was right there to help her through all of her demons. Also I feel I need to mention the girl squad because they are also fabulous. Nora and Andre both have the biggest hearts and deserve one another so much. I loved it. Thank you Michaela for allowing me to read this. You are a rockstar.
I absolutely loved this book from start to finish! This is my first time reading a book by this author, but it definitely won’t be my last. This book has a great plot, the right amount of spice and leaves you with the feeling of not wanting the book to end.
Thank you to Author Michaela Jean Taylor for providing me with an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!!
ARC review I read this book in 2 days and it was the best 2 days of my life. I had never read a book that fast before and I wish I hadn’t devoured it so quickly and took my time but I just couldn’t stop reading and now I just want to reread it over and over again. It was just so beautifully written and the characters were so well developed and likeable and I just I loved everything about it. I want to scream off the rooftops about how incredible this book is!!! Nora is easily my number one favourite female character ever! After breaking up with that boring, unappreciative dude, she started to find her true self again and she was driven and confident and fun and loving and passionate and i loved her so much. I loved following along with her journey of loving herself again and it just made me want to be her. To follow in her footsteps and do everything that made me happy. She felt so real and authentic! Now let’s take a minute to appreciate the fine ass man that is ANDREEEEE 🥵 that man was too hot for his own good. Like how is that man not realll!! But apart from his tattoos (!!!!) and his steal grey eyes, the thing that made him truly sexy was his down to earth, caring and soft personality. He was the definition of only soft for her. Everyone else saw this reserved, stand-off ish man who looked intimidating with his tattoos but to Nora, he was gentle and sweet and caring. The person who was there to lift her up when she felt knocked down and was her own personal cheerleader. And damn was that man whipped from day one by her. And I don’t blame him. I cannot put into words how much I loved this book and the absolute thrill that it brought me. I literally felt like I was living in the book. I wish I could rate this book higher but I don’t think there is enough stars on this planet to give this book. Watch me spend all my money on paperbacks and any mercy Michaela brings for them because if they are there, I will buy!
Recently I read This Love, written by Michaela Jean Taylor! This book will be released on September 19 :)
I really liked this reading so much that I read it very quickly, I didn’t want to let go of my kindle!
I find that this book fits perfectly into the list of things that happened this year for girls who are in their twenties (more examples: speak now Taylor’s version, tsitp s2, guts, the barbie movie,...) because this book talks about questioning, starting from scratch, doubts, the search to be happy,...
That’s what I found super comforting in this reading! And that’s why I’m here to recommend you read this book!
Despite the dramas and traumas, I find this book soothing because we say to ourselves « I’m not alone in thinking that / making this choice / etc. ”!!
To make it short, Nora James has been in a serious relationship with a celebrity for several years. She has everything but being happy... Unfortunately, it is only when she has the click that she decides to leave everything and go back to the roots, in the city where she grew up with her best friend.
She is therefore taking a whole new start where romance is not at the forefront in her mind! She goes on the hunt for happiness and a certain boy will be there to help her with pleasure.
She is then ready to build the life she has always wanted, no matter what.
On the other hand, we have Andre Vasquez! He worked in a car workshop and led a routine that suited him until a Range Rover arrived at the workshop and turned everything upside down. From that moment on, he always needed more.
It’s a « strangers to friends to lovers » romance that is really adorable. I loved having both points of view btw!

yes Andre.. I absolutely love seeing you kneel- I mean, ahem.. yay arc review!! 😳
this was such a sweet and heartwarming story, I won’t lie, it pulled my heartstrings because of what Nora and Andre had gone through.. especially Andre, I cannot imagine losing my brother, he’s literally my best friend.
but let’s talk about the TENSION 🥴 I can cut it with my fucking nails, I can blow on it and it’ll crumble.. these two had me on the edge of my seat, yelling at them to just even kiss! How rude of them to put me through that.. but it’s fine now, they’re together lol
talking about the characters: I love Nora and how she didn’t settle for less, I love how she went for what she wanted, but what I love most? Andre and his “does it make you happy”🥺 I’m going to apply that a bit into my life because he’s right, you need to do things that make you happy!
his family accepting her with open arms made me heart swole AND NORA INVESTING IN THE RESTAURANT FOR SELA AND SO ANDRE CAN CHASE WHAT HE WANTS😭 the cherry on top!!
I can’t express enough how much I enjoyed this story, maybe in the future, we can get a glimpse of where they are together? Married, kids?? I wouldn’t be opposed at all!
𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕡𝕖𝕤: •found family •multi-cultural romance •“can you be a good girl and stay quiet?” •friends to lovers •dual pov •slow.. slow burn •mmc w/ tats •Hispanic/Latino rep👏🏻
speaking of the last trope, Andre is a Hispanic/Latino mmc and I LOOOOVVEE it. As a fellow Hispanic/Latina, I was so happy and proud to see elements of us being repped! I also have to mention his nickname for her, “𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘢”.. which translates to butterfly (read for yourself as to why on 09/19) but in Spanish? Lord sweet heaven, it’s sweeter, hotter🥵
I received an arc for This Love for free, and I’m voluntarily leaving this review. Thank you to Michaela for the arc opportunity! I enjoyed Nora and Andre’s story, great job!😊
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thank you to the author for sending me an arc to read and review!
I absolutely loved this. I knew I would after hearing the synopsis but it still blew my mind with how much I loved this.
First of all, there is NO third act breakup. Do you know how long it has been since I read a romance without a third act breakup? Too long. And the best part is the mmc and fmc don’t get together until around 75-80% through the book. My slow burn heart was in love. And, even better, it’s in dual POV so you can see the mmc obsess over the fmc. I was in trope heaven.
The side characters in this book were also excellent. They all felt like real people and I really wish I could be part of their group! Magic brownies anyone and laser tag anyone? (if you know, you know)
Lastly, I loved that I could relate so many Taylor Swift songs to this book. Is that a valid way to critique a book? No. But I don’t care. The bridesmaid dress scenes was so Dress. I was imagining Paper Rings playing throughout the Carnival scene. Nora reflecting on her time with Parker reminded me of the lyrics of You’re On Your Own, Kid. And of course the title itself is a Taylor Swift song.
Overall I would highly, highly recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a contemporary romance with an emotional twist (TW: grief) and anyone who is sick and tired of the third act break up.
tropes: - strangers to friends to lovers - slow burn - dual pov - open door
i want to start off by thanking michaela for once again trusting me with her characters. she trusted me with logan and amelia and now andre and nora and i’m extremely grateful for that!!
rating: ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆.5
tropes: 🦋 found family 🦋 friends to lovers 🦋 tattoed mmc (🤭) 🦋 multi cultural romance 🦋 slow burn
this book….OH MY GOD THIS BOOK! i absolutely loved logan and amelia’s story but andre and nora’s had me giggling and kicking my feet in the air during the entire book. their relationship is a sloooow burn but it’s so well written that i didn’t get bored of it not even once.
andre is such an amazing book boyfriend, so supportive, so cute and HOT! everytime he reminded her to be happy i teared up and everytime he called her butterfly, i had some in my stomach as well (also he’s spanish ihihihi)
nora is amazing, she’s such a badass girlie and so strong - stronger than me for sure because i would’ve dumped parker sooner than she did. i loved her character development so much and i wanna be like her when i grow up.
both of these characters and their relationship are so well developed and i loved every bit of it. it’s such a fluffy and easy read and did i mention….THERE’S NO 3RD ACT BREAKUP? yeah that’s right, it’s just 370 pages of cuteness and tension (the sexual one). i can’t wait for the rest of the stories that are still coming our way because i love this found family and i wanna be apart of it!!
I don’t know if I’ve ever highlighted a book so much. This Love might just be one of the sweetest, most swoon-worthy books I’ve read to date. I laughed out loud, loudly and hilariously. I cried from my laughter, and shed a few tears along with the MCs. I wish I could tell y’all about all of the scenes but I will mention one in particular… Prepare to be in stitches around 77% 🤣 Absolutely hysterical and the details surrounding said scene makes it impossible not to visualize.
The chemistry between Andre and Nora is clear from the very moment they meet. The air is literally electrified. I love the cat and mouse chase, and I’m slowly entering my slow burn era thanks to Michaela. And not only is the connection with MCs amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed the side characters as well. They actually fit in with being part of the story, and all felt important. No detail was left unwritten when it came to This Love and in my opinion, that’s the only way to go. Gimme all of the details, all of the feels. Good, bad and ugly cry face ones, too.
In short, I would have been more than happy to keep reading about Andre and Nora’s love story, into their future and beyond. I freaking adore them!!!
I highly recommend reading Only You prior to This Love. There are some great details and character crossovers between the two books that you will not want to miss!
Nora and Andre might seem like opposites at first- he's a tattooed mechanic and she pulls up in an expensive car, but looks are deceiving. Under all of those tattoos and tough exterior is a super sweet man who just wants Nora to be happy.
They begin as friends, and even though he has feelings for her, Andre doesn't want to push Nora. Nora has just gotten out of a long relationship with someone who made her lose parts of herself. While she was in the relationship, she changed so much about herself, and now, she doesn't even recognize who she is anymore. She wants a fresh start and she heads out of LA to go back home to Denver.
Nora and Andre spend time together as friends- he helps her trade in her car, they eat meals together and they just enjoy each other's company. Being friends and taking it slow allowed them both time to process their feelings and deepen their connection.
Andre cares so much for Nora- he want to protect her and at every turn, he asks her if she is happy. He just wants her to be happy, and Nora finally feels like she is seen and cared for for who she is.
This is a super slow burn, but then, the spice kicks in! Their love is so sweet, and I rooted for them the whole time! There's no third act breakup and I loved that!
Thanks to the author, Michaela Jean Taylor, for an ARC of this book.
Let's start by saying that I'm not the biggest fan of a slow-burn romance since it feels like I read 60-70% of a book to finally get to where I wanted to get but this book? Nothing like that! Their love and chemistry kept me going to the point that I forgot it was a slow-burn romance.
Nora, girl, very proud of you for being you and doing what makes YOU happy. I would have gone along with everything because I'm a people pleaser. I loved how even when times were tough, she got through it and she had friends to lean on her loved her just the way she was.
Andre...my man...I don't think I've read about a guy as tatted as you but now I'm obsessed. I absolutely LOVED how he always put the friendship first. He didn't put his "I like her. I want her" feelings first and that made me so happy!. Sometimes you just want a dang friend with no complications! That's what Andre was (for the moment ;) ) and I adored it!
Overall, a super cute book that had my heart with every page!!
I want to start by saying a massive thank you to the author for the opportunity to read this book as an arc! I loved it so much and I am obsessed with Andre and Nora’s relationship ✨
Okay so wooowwww this was amazing! I was kicking my feet and smiling while reading the whole book. It is a sloooooowwww burn but I never got bored as the writing was truly incredible 💗
Our mmc Andre is literally the best book boyfriend. He’s the cutest, so funny and obviously super hot👀 he was always reminding Nora to be happy 🥹 I felt so close to him and I just wanted to give him a big hug🧸
Now, onto our fmc - the strong, resilient and gorgeous nora! When I say strong I mean stroooonnnnggggg like I am obsessed with her energy and it was so nice to read about a fmc who I can look up to! 🫶🏻
Together they were just perfect, they developed so well throughout the book and I was rooting for them! ANDDDD……… NO 3rd act breakup - wooooo🥳 I really am obsessed with this book and I loved every aspect! Again, thank you Michaela💗
I would give this book closer to a 3.5-3.75. The first 50% of this book was really slow and tended to be overly wordy and at times felt like a therapy appointment the second half definitely moved me to round up to a 4 instead of rounding down.
But I did love that they explored their feelings and opened up to each other in an organice way. I just felt it was drug out and over worded.
However, the last half of the book really delved into their relationship and their growing feelings for each other.
Nora and Andre bring out the best of each other and communicate very well in the second half of the book. Watching them open up to each other and begin to show their love was really heartwarming and sweet.
I wish we had gotten more of them together. Once they do decide on a relationship the book is pretty much over. And the epilogue is only 3 months later. It is a happy ending. I just wish we had more of them being together because I did really enjoy them as a couple.
I received this as an ARC for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review.
I really enjoyed This Love! Would 100% recommend if you’re looking for a sweet yet emotional contemporary romance!
I love a slowburn - this one was just amazing. This Love is dual POV - I always love it when you can see the main characters fall for each other and know what they’re thinking.
Andre and Nora are just perfect for each other. I really loved their friends to lovers story😍 Andre is a tattooed, bad boy mechanic, what more could you want! He teaches Nora martial arts and takes her to the local fair on her birthday.
I really liked all of the side characters and felt that they were so close and fit together really well. I kinda wish I was friends with them all!
I thought that the topic of losing loved ones was written really well and really liked how the characters openly spoke about their grief and how they were feeling.
All in all a great book!
A big thank you for the opportunity to read this ARC!
“She was radiant. A fucking goddess. I wanted to immortalize the sight of her like this, how chaotically beautiful and vulnerable she was. I wanted to brand her into my soul.”
“To love is a risk. It was a painful, maddening risk.”
Look. Slow burns are not usually my thing but this was sweet and 🥹 strangers to lovers to HEA. Andre just wanted to be there with her as she was finding herself. And it was pure and adorable. I enjoyed the two points of view and how the characters interacted. Especially Andre and his big heart. The epitome of not judging a book by its cover because of how he was portrayed vs how soft and marshmallowy he was.
I would have loved to see more of Nora and what she did to support him the way he supported her. But the epilogue helped!
I received an ARC copy of this and wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it but the characters were relatable and was definitely worth the read 🥰
After a proposal gone wrong Nora decides to move back home to Denver for a fresh start. Her car does act up after a that very long drive. So she goes to get it fixed and meets the gorgeous mechanic Andre. He goes out of his way to help her start over.
What stood out to me most was what a lovely human being Andre was. He may look like a bad boy but he is a caring, loving sweetheart. He is there by Nora's side for everything she needs during her proces of healing from a bad relationship and starting over. Both are dealing with grief and the way they help each other through this is beautiful. And than there are the side characters who are also a great bunch of lovely, supportive people. The kind of friends and family everyone deserves to have. This book can be read as a standalone like I did but it's probably even more fun to read the first book before you start this one.
Thank you Michaela Jean Taylor for giving me an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
Tropes: 🎡Friends to lovers 🎡Dual POV 🎡Tattooed MMC 🎡Slow burn 🎡”That’s my girl”
Michaela did it again guys 🥹 I didn’t think a book could make me feel so ✨happy✨ but then she releases This Love. This book is the ULTIMATE feel good book and every single person needs to read it.
Andre is literal perfection and I won’t hear any other opinions🔥🤌🏼 First and foremost, he is kind. He is genuine. And he wants to be a good man. It’s impossible not to fall for him. Nora is the sweetest thing, dealing with so much 🥺. I just wanted to wrap her in a hug. These two are IT and I can’t love them enough. I definitely recommend reading book 1, Only You, first. Not because you have to, but why would you not want to?? 😍✨
Thank you to my girl @michaelajeanbooks for the ARC copy. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s working. Your books are incredible and I’ll be first in line for whatever comes next 💛✨
This book was so sweet!! Andre is the sweetest and most caring bad boy ever 🫠 and he’s so damn hot with those tattoos!!
Nora is trying to find her self after the breakup with her ex(😤) and in the mean time she meets Andre, the mechanic bad boy that fixes her car after a long drive. They decide to be friends even when they both felt the instant attraction! I loved how Andre always tried to talk about things that made Nora happy and always asked her “would this make you happy?”
They have the best friendship ever and Andre really helped Nora with finding herself again. A cute book that can be read as a standalone but is the second of a series!!
Thank you Michaels for giving me this opportunity to read this book!!🩷
4.5 STARS ⭐️ ohhhhhhh gosh I LOVED this! It made me feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I’m not usually a slow burn girl, but this was exactly the kind of story I needed to change my mind.
Andre and Nora are easy to love. Andre’s tough exterior and inner golden boy were to die for. The way he cared for Nora and encouraged her happiness every step of the way was just swoon worthy. Watching these two form a genuine friendship and growing together through their grief was epic. SO MANY green flags in this relationship!! Also HIS NICKNAME FOR HER 😍🥵 loooooooooved!
Thank you to the author for sending me an ARC! Getting the chance to read this one before it hits shelves was so special. Everyone RUN to read this on Sept 19!!!
Five stars, this was sooo good!! Michaela is such a phenomenal writer!!! I absolutely loved her first book, Only You. And This Love was such an amazing read too!!!! Nora is trying to find out what makes her happy and she's soon realizing it's Andre. They both have been through such heartache. This book digs into their tragedies, vulnerabilities, and their journeys of healing. Andre was such a faithful friend to Nora throughout the book. He never pushes her or tries to make a move. He's just a sweet friend helping her through this rough phase of life. Talk about a slowwww burn 😩😍 it's so worth it though!! Their 2nd kiss gave me such Nick and Jess from New Girl vibes!!! When they finally got together I love how Andre gave her space to make the decision. He was so wrecked for her, it was adorable!! And how she made his dreams come true too!!! Goshhhh.
P. S. I loved seeing Logan and Amelia too! Forever my favorites! Thank you so much for this ARC read!!!
this book was so cute! 🥹 nora has just broken up with her boyfriend in LA and moves back home to denver where she meets andre.
this was a sloooow burn, but the best kind. they go from strangers to friends to lovers and the journey they go through is the cutest.
nora’s journey to becoming the happiest and best version of herself with andre’s help reminded me of myself. i’m so glad i was able to go along for the ride to see nora discover herself. i was such a fan of how respectful andre was and how he wanted her to be happy before even thinking about a relationship with her. 🥹
Okay, wait. This was so freaking cute! Andre reminded me so much of one of my favorite book boyfriends, Matt from Next to You by Hannah Bonam-young. There were so many fun scenes, the tattoo shop, the fair, laser tag, and the wedding. Even the vibes at the larkspur bar were so so fun. I’m hoping we get a book about Mara in the future. My only negative thought is that it was a bit slow for me from 20-50% but other than that, I had a great time! The characters were fantastic. They way they fell in love have me butterflies and had me giggling. I was not expecting to love this as much as a did. Will be recommending to everyone!
Nora has just broken up with a long time boyfriend and moved back to Denver, where she meets Andre who seems to be her knight in tattooed armor. This slow burn had me gripped to find out if these friends would ever move past the friend stage. Andre was so sweet and such a cheerleader to Nora, while he protected her, he also empowered her and let her fight her own battles.
I’d hardly call Andre a bad boy, I thought he was a total cinnamon roll with a tough looking exterior.
Thank you to the author for an ARC of this book for my honest opinion.
Everything moved forward smoothly after the background narrative. It was fascinating to see the characters at first as strangers. Sincerely, I like a good romance novel, especially one that uses the friends-to-lovers theme. The opening background plot, which set the scene for what was to follow, was excellent, although it should have been cut down. Once again, Thank you to Michaela Jean Taylor for providing me with an ARC for my honest review!
