Fitzwilliam Herne has the bad habit of not looking where he's going - which is how he lands himself and his beloved dog Pepper in trouble with the Queen of the Fae.
To earn back his and Pepper's freedom, Fitz strikes up a deal: he will recover the Queen's lost Starlit Crown from her abandoned castle. But first, he has to find it.
He needs help.
Tam Lin lives a quiet and peaceful life as a swordmaster in a small village. He's the only mortal man to have ever escaped the Queen, and he knows how hard it is to do so and live to tell the tale.
When Fitz asks Tam Lin for help, Tam Lin has no option but to accept. He refuses to abandon another innocent creature to the Queen's machinations.
Together they embark on a perilous journey filled with deceit, trickery, and sabotage. They will have to rely on each other to survive, so the growing, fierce attraction between them is a little inconvenient.
Great take on the story of Tam Lin, I really liked this novella (full disclosure the author is my sister), it's well paced, heartwarming and sweet.
I particularly always enjoy it when the characters provide for each other the emotional support to overcome their own hangups and then the dynamic can be put on its head when one of the other feels strong enought to come out of their safe zones.
The love story is very sweet, and the storyline is full of excitement and thrilling moments. It go more in depth, it feels somewhat rushed, but it’s a nice book. I bought this book as number two in a series but have no idea why they are in the same series. But still, nicely written books.
Loved the story and the characters - lots of humour and suspense too. There were though dozens and dozens of typos and edit mistakes that detracted a little from thorough enjoyment.
