One lazy day, Bambi and Thumper decide to play hide-and-seek. Thumper hops off to hide and Bambi sets off to find him. Peeking behind bushes, in holes, up trees, and among flowers looking for Thumper, Bambi (and readers) discover other animal friends. But where is Thumper? From the Trade Paperback edition.
This "Hide and Seek" book follows a pattern of proposing a location for Thumper, such as "behind the tree?" or "in the creek?" or "by the log?" Then, the book reveals an illustration of the animal hidden in that location along with a sentence like "That is not Thumper!" The repetitiveness is good for young readers. I would recommend this to kids who are just learning to read and who love Bambi, but it is not terribly interesting otherwise and I do not think it would hold many kids' attention for long.
Synopsis:"Boys and girls ages 4-6 can play hide-and-seek with Bambi and Thumper in this Step into Reading leveled reader based on the classic animated film Disney's Bambi!"
This is a great level one book, it consists of sight words, large print and simple sentences. The familiar characters from Bambi will attract young readers attention. This book also presents an interactive way for them to engage with the book by finding someone hiding on each page. Munchkin enjoyed this one and has asked to read it again a few times.
