This informative field guide allows the reader to become familiar with the seven species of Pacific salmon and their habitats. It traces the life cycle of the salmon in their epic journey from stream to ocean and home again, and shows how pollution and human encroachment threaten the existence of this once-abundant fish. I read this book because when I told my boss that I'm leading a salmon field trip tomorrow and need to know what I'm talking about, she pulled it off her shelf and gave it to me. I didn't read it because I necessarily have any inherent interest in it--but it's actually super interesting! It's really accessible and manages to present a lot of information in a way that makes it easy to remember. Which is great for me being able to talk about this stuff again tomorrow! :) A good find
