Based on a positive experience in Chad, I would like to attempt to learn Iyengar Yoga. This is not the book I hoped it would be, but I think it has pointed me in the direction of the one I am looking for. If i had opened this book before buying it, i would have realised that this is a tribute to BKS Iyengar, and not an instruction manual.

This is an excellent companion text for serious Iyengar Yoga students. There are some 50 essays by experienced teachers who studied for many years with BKS Iyengar. Each contributor writes a condensed piece on what studying with Guruji meant for them. Invaluable, particularly for discovering an awakened state of mindfulness, proprioception and insight into the range of states of consciousness available to those that develop asanas daily and work with Pranayama.

A compilation of interesting essays from various people affected by Iyengar's omnipresent influence on our present day practices of yoga (essays from instructors like Richard Freeman, Erich Schiffman, Shiva Rea to actor Julian Sands & Annette Bening). I love it so far, as it's inspired me to further look into the history of the asana practices as we know it, and to open my eyes to the other limbs of yoga.
