I found a copy of this book at a local used book store and bought it on a whim. I later looked up reviews on it, most which were scathing, but I thought I’d give it a chance.

I’m glad I did!

Now this is no Great American Novel that will be remembered in 100 years but it’s plenty entertaining.
The author did succeed in character development and in doing so, kept me entertained enough to be wanting to read the book when I couldn’t. The storyline was pretty well written and follows a fairly predictable course but I didn’t hate it.

I for one gave it 4 stars. I’m not asking authors for the world. All I’m looking for is a great story told well, which the author accomplished.

I think when I was 15-16, I bought this in a thrift store on a whim. Read it. Enjoyed the horror aspect of it but really didn't understand the story. I was far too young.
Rereading it now... who in the heck let me buy and read this book? I love horror, don't get me wrong, but yeah 16 year old me, she was not ready for the sheer amount of psychology in this book.

I'd give it 2.5 stars. I had high hopes for this one, based on the summary - it sounds really good, right?? But it just didn't deliver. From the very beginning of the book, I felt I knew what was going on - and for the most part, I turned out to be right. Which made it pretty unworthwhile to read all the way to the end, and I feel like I sort of wasted my time. Other people have given it really good reviews, though, so maybe it's just me. Still, it's not something I would recommend!

Well in my opinion was easy to read and to pass the time. But I do agree that the whole supernatural, the connection with the killer,Was a little off. I gave 3 because it s a page turner in a way. Otherwise should be 2 cause you can tell from the beginning was it s happening

When she was just a kid, Darby Jayson and three of her friends fooled around with a Ouija board on the wrong night. Only Darby survived the evening, albeit with no memory of the events that transpired. Now an adult, Darby is haunted by dreams of killings that end up being all too real. The answers might lie in her home town, so that's where Darby heads. But old relationships and feelings aren't the only things awakened in the town of Nostalgia.

What begins as an interesting mystery (Is Darby a killer?) rapidly becomes a mediocre suspense/horror story that reads more like a badly written Lifetime movie than anything else. The plot unravels slowly as the author continuously dredges up variations of sentences and thoughts she has gone over many times before. The denouement, when it comes, is abrupt and not totally believable. The story also suffers from the relationship between Darby and the brother of one of the slain girls, a police detective who hates her with such a passion...and yet they both feel the heat stirring their loins. The total number and pointless distraction of these episodes takes away any narrative thrust the author has built up, if you'll pardon the expression.

I got this book off the discount rack at the library. I think i paid .75 for it. It was a really good book! It has some bad stuff in it, but it was a great read. I am thinking about reading it again. Its been a couple years since i have finished it. If you like scary murder mystery books, this one is a good one to read!

DNF. I didn't like the writing it was slow and boring, it felt like it dragged on forever. And I often find that I'm not really into the whole "bad stuff happened in my past, lone survivor, now I'm mentally connected to the killer, I can see what he sees, I need to stop him" plot.
