if you like this review, i now have we bite: www.michaelkamakana.com

080419: well maybe not a book to buy. it is more bothersome than i had thought that it is not really portable. but mainly, i am discovering through looking at these visual dictionaries, then simply going about my life, that the words i am often looking for are more poetic, precise, descriptive rather than general. this also visualizes parts of the world not daily experience but of technical value eg. parts of digestive system...

040419: book to buy. recalling all french i remember, from childhood, hs, u, montreal, hospital, this is best visual dictionary i have found, in any language. precise, detailed, clear images. it is one thing to have the accent/pronunciation ok but it is very useful to have many details, many words, of the world as i walk down the street etc. i can read french philosophy because i have read it in english but still have backlogs of english books and texts to read. so i simply try to translate in my thoughts everyday encounters and objects etc.... not yet too much human interaction/expression or poetry or play with grammar... just words for now...

one problem: this is not pocket book, you do not want to carry it with you... oh well...

This book is the most IMPRESSIVE and AMAZING visual French dictionary I've ever seen. It has literally every noun you can think of and includes detailed anatomies of not just animals, cells, and the human body, but even for things you probably don't even want or need to know! The pictures are also the best I've seen in a visual dictionary too, they are large and clear and formatted in a way that is very easy on the eye and so immersive and oh so much fun. You don't have to be a child or a beginner to need or want this book, heck even if you're intermediate or fluent in French, it's just a fun and easy way to boost your vocabulary by A TON. It's a pricey book but SO WORTH IT. It's also hefty, it's definitely not for travel, it's strictly a reference book for home or school. The Firefly Visual Dictionary series are great and a MUST-HAVE for any language learner. They also have a Spanish one and also one where they have a 5-language Italian/German/French/Spanish/English visual dictionary! If only they had more in other languages, and I also wish they were also updated, as their most recent one was published in 2015. Great series, seriously the best visual dictionary you'll ever find.

It's also great as a place to rest your computer monitor.
