A delightful book based on Raffi's endearing lyrics depicts children mailing letters to one another around the world in this celebration of the common bond of family that all peoples share. Reprint.
Janet lives in England. Pierre lives in France. These two, along with many other children, love to write and receive letters from pen pals all over the world. A Raffi song in print, this book illustrates one of the songs that children have grown to love.
The illustrations, while not outstanding, do a good job of giving a more vivid picture of the places these children live. They have good detail and show the differences througout the world. At the end, the sheet music is provided so that those with musical family members can play along.
Very simple book, but we liked it because you can sing the whole thing (music notation is on the last page) and because it shows children from all different countries all mailing letters, so you see how they are the same and different.
This would be great for a "peace" or "around the world" or "letter writing/pen pal" story time. I don't think it's in print, though, and the cover art on this book is wrong, but at least right now, we still have it at APL.
