Pros and Cons

Impact of Science and Technology: Transport

Rate this book
For thousands of years, every form of transportation has used natural energy, whether provided by humans, animals, or the wind. Today, we rely on fossil fuels to power our cars, ships, trains, and planes. Each new form of transportation has allowed us to explore and expand our world. This book examines the history of various forms of transportation, fossil fuels and the development of alternative fuels, how transportation has changed geography and the environment, how technology can improve safety, and the future of transportation, from supersonic submarines to vacuum tube trains. This book goes beyond the science to explore the pros and cons of each new development, and examines the ways in which transportation has changed our society and the world.

Meant for teen and up readers, this book takes each form of transportation forms and discusses the history of, the uses for, and the negative results that come from it. Nice photographs and overflowing with resource information, this book is a nice resource for any reader who is needing to find out more information about the various ways we get around and the possible ways we can improve on it.
