I love this book. It is more of a personal book for your child when they get baptized. I would not have it in the classroom because of it being religious.
Pages 50 & 51 says "Christmas is a time when angels open the gates from heave to earth" and "Easter is the time when angels open the gates from earth to heaven" This is bad theology and misleading! Jesus is the only way to heaven if you are a Christian, not the angels. Also, it has very little to do with baptism, rather it is a book of rephrased Bible verses and prayers. The rephrasing does not make them easier to understand, it just dumbs them down. Nearly all of the characters are portrayed as white too. One star for cute illustrations.
My son received this as a gift for his baptism. It's a really beautiful book with a variety of baptism related prayers, quotes, etc. It might be nice when he's older or where you read one page during bedtime prayers, but for now it doesn't really engage him at all. I wonder if it has to do with the fact each page represents it's own quote without any story to tie the book together as a whole.
I bought this sweet little book for my daughter's baptism. I like the size of the book and I really like the illustrations. It is a nice collection of prayers, psalms, and bible stories. Divided into the following sections: Me, My Baptism, A Child of God, God, Jesus, God's Holy Spirit, and Blessings. I especially like the Blessings and plan to start using some of them in our nightly prayers. I think this is a great gift for a child that is being baptized.
