Greggie Morebooks presents two full-featured stage plays originally created in 1971 by veteran author and poet Gregory St. John Taylor. The first, Libby’s Life, is a diabolical 1-act Existential stage play involving a young woman caught between realities and the meaning and significance of ordinary elements and entities. It is dark like most Existential experiences and emotional in a “plain” way, somewhat devoid of exceptional emotion, which is part of the playwright’s plan. It builds tension rather than plugging it in sequentially. The second play, The Almighty Barnaby Cave, also a diabolical 1-act stage play, pits a young man and a young woman who know each other, against each other in a game of life, clearly a dance on the edge of sensuality and sexuality which they eventually render harmless. Both plays were created in a course instructed by playwright Mark Berman, Playwright-in-Residence at Penn State University in 1971. Reading plays is a special interest for those who like reading them aloud, acting them out for their own personal, private enjoyment, or just using their imaginations, the best stages in the Universe. Enjoy.
