With easy recipes that suit the modern lifestyle, FRESH explores the food of the four seasons, encouraging cooks to make the most of fresh produce in its prime. Indulge in summer stone fruits and crisp spring greens. Relish the earthy flavors of autumn vegetables and the comforting warmth of slow-cooked winter produce. Create food infused with the rich and varied flavors that reflect the changing moods of the year, from sweet coconut prawns in the spring to a rich onion soup on a chilly winter's evening. Michele Cranston presents recipes that celebrate freshness, flavor, and simplicity. The photography by Petrina Tinslay is, as always, original and evocative.
With Michele Cranston's spring, summer, autumn and winter recipes I look forward to revisiting my favourites each season. Invariably I also try something new. Out of the 18 recipes I've tried, only one so far has been a dud in my opinion, and it could have been my technique or just not to my taste. Many of the recipes are in regular rotation. As well as standard recipes, each season has useful, less specific fast food ideas. There's also a "Basics" section which is about home preparation of the little extras used in this book, e.g. lime mayonnaise, croutons, tapenade, pastries. Most of these can be shop bought or prepared not quite from scratch if preferred. Every dish is lusciously photographed by Petrina Tinslay. It's my Desert Island cookbook.
A beautifully composed cookbook which is divided between the four seasons. I have only tried a handful of the recipes and all have turned out quite well. A handy section at the back which includes the basics, the photography is marvelous!
