I'm the author of two full length poetry books, Complex Sleep (Iowa 2007: Kuhl House Poets series) and Invisible Bride (LSU 2004: Walt Whitman Award), and one chapbook, World Jelly (Effing 2005). I'm currently writing a prose book on Johnny Cash's first American Recordings album, which will be published by Continuum Books in their 33 1/3 series.
A book of recurring animals, colors, words and sounds. Dissonant as the lyrics and poetry it was "intentionally patterned after"--i.e, Bob Dylan and Robert Pollard, Chris Vitiello, and the haikus of Kerouac. A book that definitely puts language in the foreground.
Also just a beautifully made book, as all Effing Press books are.
I just read it. I'll have to see how it settles in my head.
Something kind of incomplete & ill-conceived about this collection as a finished project, though as tentative sketches towards something more it has much potential.
I should check out a full-length book of his. Yes I should.
