Elyon’s Ghost is the second in the explosive new sapphic series, The Daughters of Elyon. This series introduces a world full of intrigue and adventure, one that pulls the reader deep into the lives of the characters and refuses to let go. The story follows Sábria, the Arch Priestess, and her warriors, commonly known as Elyon’s Blades— strong female protagonists following the mandates of their Goddess, Elyon, who demands her warriors risk all to defend womankind. Early reviews are already coming in for the first book in the series, Elyon’s Blades, with many readers raving about the immersive world-building, dynamic characters, and fast-paced action. With phrases such as, “ The women are a delightful blend of strength and compassion ” and “ the ending was perfectly delicious ,” people are clamoring for this next book in the series, Elyon’s Ghost. This elaborately rendered world where the warriors raise their swords against evil and forge loving, lifelong bonds amongst themselves draws the reader in with exquisite character development and elaborate storylines that enchant the mind and capture the imagination. ★Praise for The Daughters of Elyon★ "Wow!!! Keep the fires burning on this one, Gal." Phyllis "Okay, I will honestly say that is one of the best books I've ever read and my favorite of yours so far. How on earth do you come up with the characters and story? The language? I actually had to re-read the last part, as it was so satisfying, and the ending was perfectly delicious. You have a gift for writing about emotions and connections between characters, whether they are harsh or loving. The violence was fitting, as it is a part of the world and the strong and loving, but flawed women in the story. I know a story is good for me when I literally feel things in my gut, which happened frequently here. You've outdone yourself." K. Jaeck
Alison is devoted to giving her readers strong female characters who go about life with zest and abandon. Whether they solve mysteries or fight epic fantasy battles, they all have one trait in common; they are people you'd love to call friend. Alison has worn many hats in her life and, as a result, writes in several genres. From twenty years as a cop to being a lifelong horsewoman and an avid reader of fantasy fiction, she writes what she knows. Alison has a bizarre sense of humor, a realistic look at life, and an insatiable desire to live life to the fullest. She loves all horses and hounds and some humans… Alison enjoys hearing from her readers. Visit her website at https://www.AlisonHoltBooks.com
I really love the women of the Elyon’s Blades. The characters just pull you along with them while they protect the women of the Empire. It’s hard to pick a favorite one. I love Ailith and her rough and abrasive, but honest and thoughtful way. I look forward to reading more about Ghost. The world in which the story is told is awesomely built. You can picture it so we’ll in your mind. I’m tied between which series I love best of Holt’s. I highly recommend this series and suggest starting at book 1 Elyon’s Blades.
There is always something going on in service to the Goddess Elyon. In this next installment of The Daughters of Elyon saga, we continue to follow our Arch Priestess and her Blades as they protect themselves and the women of the Cibian Empire against a variety of threats. Ailith, the clever but crass shiv with a heart of gold, always finds adventure (read: trouble). We also spend more time with Terro's Ghost. Excitement abounds as we meet interesting new characters and learn more about some of The Blades. The writing is clean and well-edited. The world-building continues to be fantastic. I enjoy the ride along with Elyon's chosen. I will happily read the rest of the series. I received a free copy from StoryOrigin. This is my honest review.
Book nr 2 in ’The Daughters of Elyon” series. The adventures of the Arch Priestess, Blades, and shivs continue. I really like that these books present everyday life in the order. My favorite character - definitely Ailith. She is indeed unique. I laughed so many times thanks to her. The more I read and bury myself in the world the author created the more I admire the structure of her creation. There are so many things to consider and everything seems to fit together. The development of characters goes smoothly and the story holds interest. I will continue with book nr 3.
Elyon’s Ghost is a combination of humour and hope for justice. Continuing on from Elyon’s Blade, the second book follows the Daughters of Elyon on their quest to protect women from nasty men. We also get to see a lot more of Ghost, and Terra’s motherly instincts which I thought was very heart-warming.
Ailith again stole the show with her rough and abrasive nature. I loved how she interacted with everyone, especially the Jokester (dolphin), but especially with Sabina. I loved how she said what came to mind, not caring about the consequences because that is just who she is. I loved the forbidden romance aspect in this story between her and the noble.
I loved the language in this book. The author must have had a great time with those squiggly red lines underneath each word. The world, the words, and the interactions were just gold, considering the serious nature of what the Daughters of Elyon do.
I really enjoyed this book and hope it’s not the last.
Thank you to Story Origin for a copy of the eArc—this review is left voluntarily.
Love this series. Read two, about to dive straight into the third of the series. It’s right up my alley. Brave, dangerous women protecting women in a medieval type of world full of bastards and rotten nobles who terrify all around them getting their comeuppance in any number of messy ways. My favourite type of swashbuckling story. Great world building, very varied characters, each fascinating in their independent ways. There’s heroes to root for and villains to wish the pox upon.
Thus writer is prolific I see. I will venture into other series’ she has written and hope they have the same enticing features. Not to mention they are also very well written. Perfectly paced. A style that grabs your hand and pulls you irresistibley through the story. I have to say there is not so much a plot as an eloquently constructed world and culture with dramatic events that provide the thrills and the enticement to read on. Great read. Go for it
Even though I am a male in his early seventies I found this book to be a great follow-up to the first book"Elyon's Blades". The story kept your interest and also let you more into the lives and loves of the characters. Fighting, making love, drinking and crying all are covered in this well written book.
Alith grows. She goes from the immature mountain girl we were first introduced to and starts changing into a more mature caring young lady. But, she can still be a handful to deal with at any part of the story.
Read the great follow-up. I can only hope for the next book in the series to be as good as the first two.
I like that these books give a more normal view of a warrior life. This is basically a slice of life in a holy order of warriors. They're all one big family. They fight and protect people together, but mostly they live, train, and just do everyday patrol work. There usually is not large epic battles. Most of the story is about the women and their lives in relationships. Not fighting. Fighting is just a part of the job that comes up from time to time during everyday work.
I am very enthusiastic about Elyon’s Blades and Ghost of Elyon! I am so happy to have found this author.
The world that Alison Naomi Holt builds for us in these two books is amazing and real at the same time. It feels utterly authentic and raw, regarding the dangers and history of the times, but also incredibly awesome in what it has to offer to the characters and the readers! Off to read Book 3!
Most of the criticisms I had about the first book, apply to this one as well.
I only have one question. Why would you title the book Elyon's Ghost, when 80% of the book is not about Ghost, the little girl introduced in book 1? Sure, the first couple of chapters are about her, but then this book goes into a completely different direction. Only near the end, the author seems to remember her, but after that, she is never mentioned again. A missed opportunity, I think.
*Spoiler******************** the book is called Elyon's Ghost but although Ghost is in the book, nothing is resolved with her and she isn't even in the book very much, except as a patient or a missing person. Unless the title was about more than Ghost, still it's not a very key piece and nothing is really resolved in this book. Good reading... as kind of a serial.

we're still going strong in the Daughters of Elyon series, it had everything that I enjoyed from the first book and improved on it. I was glad I got to read this and continue the series, it always is a great story and the way it was written is perfect. I'm looking forward to more in this series and from the author.4
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I'm really enjoying this series! A book with badass women warriors who protect Women and children-you can't beat that :-). I love how the author so beautifully develop all the main characters. My favorites are Ailith and the Arch Priestess! An amazing story that makes me wish that this truly existed. Moving on to book 3. I highly recommend!
Happiness is realising the second book is as good as the first one. And this book made me happy. The writing was just as good and you cannot beat unapologetically strong warrior women who love and take care of each other. I was hooked from the first word and I'm really looking forward to the next installment in this series.
I LIKE these stories !! The characters in them are engaging, interesting and believable. I will read any story this author writes, regardless of subject or if it is a stand - alone book or part of a series. Yes, her stories are that good !! Enjoy !!
A great world with great characters. I love the premise of a temple of women who protect women. The author is excellent and sprinkles humor in with more serious topics. I love all her books.
This book will take you on a wonderful trip. One of the key characters, Jenx, talked about books in this story: "They allow your mind to expand beyond your limited views of your surroundings, take you on adventures, and often leave you breathless when you discover truths—or fictions—you never in your wildest dreams imagined.” That statement is totally true of this story itself.
This story is a continuation of the Elyon Blades with many key characters with multiple views of how the world works. It's an interesting look at people and their interactions. You will likely see people you know, you will appreciate the differences in how they deal with the world. The author draws you in as part of the story. Even the title is a key character: Ghost. Her world is so different than the world of the Blades. It's also the antithesis of the world of the nobles. The environment, the lives, the town - all so well described that you can see it with your mind. You can feel the tension, the battles to protect women and children as Elyon directs them. The confrontations with those who don't believe will show you the error in their ways. You will feel the emotions grab you as the prose is that strong of an attraction.
Certainly adult content in the book, but worth every page that you read.
