One of the very first history books given to me, I think this one initiated my love with the field. Each page covers a decade, with short little paragraphs keeping the reader up to date on what's what when and where. At the bottom is a continuous time line of reigns for the rulers of the major powers, which gradually takes up more and more room as the modern world gives birth to more and more nations. At the very top are colourful little drawings representing the various powers talked about.
For a history buff, this wouldn't have anything - let alone anything new - to say, as the blurbs are too short for all but the most cursory ofinformation. Yet, for a child or young teen, this is a godsend.
