"Thirteen-year-old Ollie has mixed feelings about a beach vacation with his mom, brother and step-family. While he is looking forward to the vacation time, he's developed a secret crush on his step-sister Frankie that makes he feel extremely confused and awkward. Over the course of the vacation, Ollie's friend Sam arrives, causing more consternation as he reveals his own crush on Frankie. A crisis proves the turning point for Ollie and he recognizes that even with "step" in front, a family is a family and his sibling relationship with Frankie will prove to be the most rewarding and satisfying.
An author of series fiction for young readers, Ann Bryant was educated at the Royal College of Music, and worked for a number of years as a music teacher. She has also written for various BBC Schools Radio programmes, and composed the theme and incidental music for BBC TV's Tales of Aesop series.
