Full Moon #2

The Den: A Psychological Horror Novel

Rate this book
In Matt Shaw's Full Moon, a group of strangers were invited to take part in a midnight run in exchange for a life-changing sum of money if they completed it... Or rather, if they survived it...Today is a new day. Those who lived to see the sun rise realise that their lives will never be the same again, nor will they ever be free from this nightmare to spend the cash they'd managed to win. All they can do now is follow the instructions, that their new masters give, while they try and figure a way of escaping the den. Without knowing who, or what, they're really dealing with - the only thing they're sure of is that they need to get out before the next Full Moon.Matt Shaw is the published author, and film director, of over 200 stories including his infamous black cover range of extreme horrors. In those titles he is known for pushing boundaries and has been nominated for multiple awards within the "splatterpunk" genre but do not be fooled - Shaw isn't only capable of writing the extremes. His dark psychological horrors are known for getting under the skin of the readers, causing both sleepless nights and restless dreams...

Biography

MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.

Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.

Eish, Mr. Shaw...

I've never been shy to say that I am a big fan of Matt Shaw. However, this one didn't work that well for me.
Some perspective:
THE DEN is the second book in the FULL MOON trilogy, and I read it immediately after finishing the first. Unfortunately, I was bored during the first 60%. In fact, the first 20% of this novel is exactly the ending of the first. Ultimately, it gave me the feeling that the author tried to stretch it out into a trilogy, rather than telling the story as it should be.

That's my personal opinion, so do with it what you like.

As we await the next Pack Snack Attack

The first part was excellent.
Part 2 brought in more information about the pack but I felt that the author was a bit unsure of where he wanted to go with the plot. It’s not that this novel was bad or anything but it just didn’t have the tightness of the storyline that was more apparent in Book 1. That being said, the upcoming resolution to the cliffhanger about the fates of David and Melissa should be interesting.

Bit far fetched

First book was great wanted to read more and more, and although this looked to be as good , its failed rather miserably.
I,m looking for the third book out of morbid curiosity

Food for thought. If I am ever kidnapped and taken hostage in a room, I won't beg to see my family. Sometimes a character in a book is so dumb that I literally scream at my Kindle. Bad guys are usually smart. This chic begging to see her kid is only making matters worst. If she were smart, she'd rather never see her kid rather than tempting then to bring the kid to their home.
For some reason, I enjoy books where a female is locked in a room being held captive.
One more left in the series. Off I go

Very short

The author’s first book “Full Moon” was so good I couldn’t wait for the next installment, which is this book (The Den), however, after waiting for this book to be published, I found it to be waaay too short a read. There was so much more the author could have penned in this installment that I’m really disappointed. It was really a very short story. It was still good though thus the 3 stars. Hoping the final installment in the series proves better.

Looking forward to the next instalment!

Yes!! Another book well done, my only complaint being i have to wait for the next instalment to see what happens and the suspense is already killing me!
Loved the first book despite being reluctant to read it, thinking it was going to be just another predictable werewolf book but it so wasn’t!
Definitely recommend reading the first one and this one!

Good story

By the end of the book I understood why Melissa's daughter, Lauren, and Melissa's past in general was constantly being talked about, but I honestly had no interest in any of it. I didn't care about Melissa or her defiance. She was an uninteresting character and, honestly, I just wanted to read about the pack. It all came together in the end, but it definitely wasn't as good as the first book.

While this second book in the Full Moon Trilogy doesn't have much in the way of gore and blood, it's a nice build up the final book. While it's a lot slower than the first book, it's worth the read because it's definitely setting the stage for the next book and with everything that goes on in this book, the last book should surpass Full Moon in the action and intrigue parts.

I give this book 4 of 5 Paws.

I have to wait to see how it ends, no fair

I really enjoyed this sequel to full moon, when I got to the end only to find it wasn't the end was I was gutted, am looking forward to the next part of the story. This is such a clever idea and a brilliant werewolf story. After submitting my review I noticed the word trilogy in the books title. Duh.

A peculiar sequel!

Book 1 was a relatively short story but, at the same time, a satisfying read. However, this sequel was something else. The plot was all over the place, as though the author himself didn't know how to proceed. This episode of the trilogy was far too brief and devoid of structure. I won't be bothering with Book 3. A pity as it started well.

A Survivor's Dilemma

Book Two in a series of three. Melissa survived a hunt by a pack of werewolves only to be held captive to satisfy their carnal desires. A plan is hatched to end her captivity and return to her daughter. To be concluded in book three, The Pack.

Werewolves: Part Two

The second book in the series gives you information about the Pack. It chronicles the day to day workings of the group and the battle of Michael and Jason. Michael wants to be Alpha and plots to eliminate Jason. I'm thoroughly enjoying book two and can't wait for the conclusion.
Again, not for those easily offended.
