HaHa: Margam Revisited

Rate this book
Eight contemporary photographers revisit Wales' Margam Park, home of the Fox Talbot family, who were among the pioneers of photography in the 1800s. The photographers explore and document social and historical changes in the area, including the house and estate's new function as a publicly owned leisure facility, the locale's domination by the massive steelworks from which the Fox Talbots made their wealth; and the area's decline into one of the most deprived parts of Wales. The eight photographers are Chris Dyer, Peter Finnemore, Tatjana Hallbaum, Karen Ingham, Adam O'Meara, Richard Page, Matthew Pontin, and Miranda Walker. Cultural lecturer Hugh Adams's essay revisits the scenes and society of his childhood in the 1950s and addresses social and artistic change.
