This is a good & fairly accessible summary of feminist theory within the US. While some of the organization seems a bit off, Mann does a good job of placing feminist theory within its historical context. There are a few chapters which seem a bit dry and hard to get through, but overall an enjoyable and important feminist read.

I used this book for a feminist theory independent study I did in college and I found it to be thorough and insightful. One of the most comprehensive summaries I have come across in the field. A good addition to anyone in sociology or women's studies

this is a really useful text to read if you're in academia and you're required to cite feminist theory a lot BUT it's a nightmare to slog through. like most theory, dense and pretty inaccessible BUT mann's writing is engaging, which is all you can really ask for with theory

Honestly? Compared to other textbooks I’ve read this one fucks. Of course it was for a class so it was DENSE and I hated the class itself, but I do for sure see myself reading my annotations later down the road.

It's a good book overall!! This was assigned for school, so in typical college fashion it was dense & in-depth with concepts!! Hours upon hours to grasp meanings & critical response essays later it was an informative book through the author's point of view and historical aspects!

Tends to meander into a second wave bias occasionally but overall an excellent reference for the learning feminist scholar with plenty of info for further research
