Because this book is a Smart Words Reader, it contains 20 vocabulary words and a glossary. In addition to the information provided in the text, the book is filled with eye-catching pictures. This book is great for a science lesson or research project on fossils, fossilization, and archeology. I could also use it for a lesson on using reference pages, such as the glossary, while reading and researching.

This book throws a lot of information out in a really simplistic way. It doesn't have that many pages, but it could take a kid a long time to actually read and process all of it.

I think that this would be a cool book to share with your (older) child if they want to watch a movie like Jurassic Park. Let them read the book before and after, and see what they can learn about dinosaurs and what was real/not real in the movie.
