Well..I slogged through all 10 books. Once you’ve read one, you’ve read ‘em all.

The heroine and her grandmother are weirdly connected, one dependent on the other. Both are willing to break and enter, steal things, as well as accuse friends and neighbors of murder with no proof. Not one person wrongly accused or who found these ladies illegally on their property turns them over or sues for defamation, not one.

The internal monologues of “deduction” are mind numbing. What…What if…who…well, what about…could it be…who’s the next suspect? Usually followed by a selfish “I can’t *whatever* until I know who killed whom!”. Then, yet another visit to wrongly accuse someone or wander onto their property without asking.

Pig and cat…unusual pets. However, I have never had a cat whose claws click on hardwood flooring. Cats retract their claws when they walk. I guess the cat is half dog, they do click when they walk on hardwood. And, even in a small town I can’t imagine a pig saving a drowning person or being kept in a pigpen outside a shop.

The fiancé…ah yes, the police officer who politely asks his wife-to-be to stay out of whatever murder has befallen the town. However, he doesn’t stop her, arrest her when he discovers she’s muddled her way into his investigation or even get angry. He meekly accepts and follow through on every “lead” she provides him. Poor Doofus doesn’t come up with any of his own, so maybe her meddling is the best the town can do.

Finally the shop, they make chocolates and coffee, but as the stories progress they add cookies and cakes. And, they give away oodles of treats as samples as well as use boxes of chocolates to bribe their way into speaking with their suspects. Luckily, they never have any stale or melted treats but still, their financial bottom line must be dreadful.

I recommend reading one of these and then branching out with other formulaic “cozy mysteries”so you have new characters and situations to consider.

Wonderful mix of sleuthing, chaos, chocolate, crazy trio and animals and romance. All set around a chocolate shop and the two women that own and run it, I do wonder how they have time to actually open the shop, let alone make the delicious sounding cakes, cookies and chocolates. Although some fun is thrown into the twists and turns the stories take there are also some very serious and dangerous moments as well, interesting, intriguing and quirky. Peaches and Arnold are Heroes often saving the day although the trio have stepped up a few times as well which helps cover the amount of chocolates they get free. Enjoyable series.

Just like the first 10 stories, they are light, fun, easy to read, without much depth, but still enjoyable.
