3.5 Stars

Sleeping With the Enemy is two novellas Enemy in My Bed by Wahida Clark and Keeping My Enemies Close by Kiki Swinson. My favorite of the two was the second novella, but I'm will review them in order.

2 Stars.
Enemy in My Bed is about a stupid chick that gets involved with a dude who's married and in jail but is somehow surprised when he turns out to be a piece of shit. I didn't like the main character and found her to be dumb as shit and a waste of my time.

3.5 Stars
Keeping My Enemies Close is about a naive and stupid chick that also gets involved with a convict(at least he's not married) and gets arrested for smuggling weed into a jail in her vagina(ouch!!) for said man only to discover he and her "best friend" have set her up.

I overall just found the second story to be more fun, better written and less rushed than the first story. I haven't read any Street Lit in a while but after reading Gucci Mane's autobiography I really needed to read some good hood stories.

Street Lit isn't for everyone so I'm not going to recommend it.

The Book I Read is Called Sleeping With The Enemy Written by Wahida Clark! This Book is a Fiction story that leaves
you thinking about what is going to happend next. The main character Kreesha puts herself in a alot of trouble by hanging with the wrong
crew. This Book teaches readers that the wrong people are going to lead you to the wrong path!
Kreesha is independent and street smart, but when it comes to relationships she doesnt know how to control herself. She doesnt know when enough is enough! Kreesha is in her own buisness of selling weed in the streets, She knows how to get her own money but the situations she gets into messes her up mentally and physically. Kreesha dates a man name Reign who's in prison, While kreesha's messing with Reign she knows from jump that he has a wife at home but that doesnt bother her. Kreesha and Reigns wife don't get along they try to make Reign choose who's he going to be with when he gets out of prison, On the other hand Reign is also smart and finds a way to stay with both of them. At the end Kreesha looses trust for Reign and does something she probably wouldnt regret!
Sleeping With The Enemy is an intersting book because it's realistic and a book you would most likely not forget about. It's also entertaining because there is so much drama going on! My favorite character was Kreesha she was just too much into her hustle and she knew it well, She was a real woman. The scenes in this book were very discriptive so that the readers can visualize everything that was happening. After reading this book I thought of everything that's going on in the streets. From loosing trust to being raped to getting killed, It was all violence and it's taking up the world! The end of the book left me a little confused, I had questions like What happend to Reigns wife and Kreeshas bestfriend Eboni?
I Loved this book, I would recommend it to Young adults because they are more mature and can handle the kind of scenes that happen. When I read Sleeping With The Enemy I thought back to when I read Im Still Wifey By Kiki Swinson because there were a lot of similarities.

I was completely annoyed with the females in this book! I found myself having to force to read the rest of it. Especially the first story. It's not a bad book, but the events in it makes you wanna jump in and slap the hell out of everybody! Now THIS book is pretty much predictable. You can read the first 2 chapters and know whats going to happen. It's 2 short stories by 2 authors in one, so the book may seem rushed. It does to me. Especially the first story. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a FICTION NOVEL...NOT REAL! LOL. If you like books that focuses on drugs, crime, ignorant males, and stupid females, then go for it lol. All in all, I liked it.

This book contained two short stories that really held my attention. In the first story Kreesha sells pot and has a big operation going on with underlings to take care of business. She meets Reign who is in jail and hooks up with him when he gets out knowing he has a wife. Her people keep telling her that he is slimy but she is too in love to heed any warnings. The story advances with it's inevitable twists and turns and an ending that I wasn't expecting.
In the second story Larissa comes home to find her ex has completely trashed everything in her house. She goes to live with her high school best friend who then introduces her to a guy named Supreme who Tanisha's boyfriend is incarcerated with. After some time of seeing each other Supreme convinces Tanisha to bring drugs into the jail where she then gets caught and is put in jail herself. What unravels is a plot that was set up by Tanisha to get Supreme to be with her. When Tanisha gets out of jail the plan is set up for revenge with the help from her two cousins.
I was involved with the stories and if you are a Wahida Clark and a Kiki Swanson fan then you will like these short stories.

Enemy in My Bed...where do I Start? Let me see, Kreesha was about as dumb as they come pretty much sums it up.

Keeping My Enemies Close...hmm, Tenisha rivaled Kreesha from the first story with her stupidity.

Both young ladies put things before brains. Lust before common sense. Everyone and their auntie told Kreesha what was up but as street smart as she was alleged to be, it just didn't translate that way. Tenisha was a lot more naive but still no excuse for being bamboozled into becoming a mule .

Two stories in one book. Wahida‘ swans weird but okay, and Kiki’s portion was was wonderfully written. I agree with some of the other reviewers, her portion could have been longer, or a standalone series

Wahida Clark does it again!

Wahida Clark has been writing great books throughout the years. This is just another one of hers added to the list of good reads from her. As usual I enjoyed it just like the others I’ve read in the past. I can’t wait to start reading another novel.

This book review is being written for Rebecca Orona for my English 4 class. I recently finish a book called Sleeping with the Enemy by Wahida Clark for my English 4 class. This book contains 295 pages (not including monologue) and the publisher of this book is the New York Dafina Books/Kensington Publisher. I decided to read this book because I know that this is a good author from previous books I have read by her and I like urban fiction books.
The main character of this book is Kreesha and Reign. A few months after Reign is released from jail, he gets Kreesha pregnant and everything goes downhill from there. At the beginning of it all they are lovers and then they turn into each other’s worst nightmare after Reign betrays Kreesha to the Feds when things go wrong with their drug business. Kreesha winds up going to jail along with the rest of her crew who are in on the business.
Eboni is Kreesha’s cousin and she is also involved with her drug business she has going. Eboni’s role was to help Kreesha bag and deliver the drugs that they sold in and around her community. Wifey which is Reigns wife in the book is also one of the main characters in the book. She and Kreesha would constantly fight over Reign. Wifey and Kreesha both got pregnant by Reign at the same time. Wifey was so jealous of Kreesha and Reign’s baby that one day when Reign brung over him and Kressha’s baby she put tons of salt in the babies bottle and nearly killed her.
The genre of this book is urban fiction. The place that this book was set in was Memphis, Tennessee. The time period it was set in the present. The scenes in this book range from houses to hotels, prisons and different places around Memphis. This book has a lot of explicit scenes in it. In this book the main character is trying to make money and stay under the radar. The outcome of the book is a shocker and will leave your mouth hanging open.
My final thoughts on ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’ are that this was a very good book and I would read it again. I liked this book because I like urban fiction books, there’s a lot of action going on and this is one of my favorite authors. Some of the good points in this book were reading about how happy the characters life was at the time and some scenes where they actually escaped trouble. Some of the books low points was the very ending of the story I feel the author could have wrote a little bit more than what she did to explain the outcome of the situations and also explain what would have happened next. A few things that I have learned from this book is that it is just way easier to obey the law than to get mixed up in all of that trouble because once you get into it, it is going to be very hard to get out of it. And the last thing that I learned from this book is that some of the people that you think you can trust you really can’t. Anyone can and will betray your trust so one should be careful of who they trust. I would recommend this book to others but they should be either adults, young adults or mature teens. Because of the very explicit scenes in the book one should be very mature while reading it.

Wahida Clark

Enemy In My Bed

Great story by Wahida.
For it to be a short story she told it all in many details.

Overall about Kree that is in the drug game have all these people in her crew that is either working with her or running with her.
She ends up talking to this guy name Reign that was locked up and got out she helped him get on with her with all of the contacts she have. She had a family business going on with the drugs she was selling. Her cousins and her uncle.

One of her contacts was saying that you shouldn't trust Reign watch you back. But, Kree didn't listen it got her in a lot of stuff when it came to Reign and his wife and then him opening his mouth to the FEDs.

Great story.

Kiki Swinson

Keeping My Enemies Close

Great story Kiki did.

Overall Larissa started talking to this guy that was locked out that her cousin Tenisha knew. It lead to Larissa doing some crazy things for Supreme by bring in drugs.

But, that was stopped when Larissa was arrested and sentence to do 22 months. While she was in jail she found out she was pregnant by Supreme and she decided to sign over her baby to her friend Tenisha.
Later on Larissa started noticed that Tenisha was acting funny. Supreme gets out of jail. Larissa started hearing that Tenisha and Supreme is a happy little family with her son. At the end it all comes to the end Larissa gets her revenge on both of them

Story is good Kiki did her thang.
Both authors did good with ths book. They should do another book like this. Great job.

Ghetto, ghetto, ghetto! Lol, this book is so damn ghetto. But, that is what it's supposed to be. Wahida's chapter is okay, Kreesha is supposedly a trap star but gets some good dick and loses everything for it. Kiki's section was a little better, I like her writing style better, and she tells the tale of a girl who also lets dick get her in trouble, but her tale ends on a slightly more positive note. Overall, the book was okay. I like reading books in this genre but I prefer for the women to come out on top and not be portrayed as silly hoes but street smart women who know the game and play it well.

This book is broken down into two different stories, but they both add up too what the book is titled. "SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY" is a book that is based on women that ignore some of the signs that they are in dating and hanging out with the enemy. This book causes you to rethink the people you hang around and be with all the time, because you never know if they are planning something against you. This book also causes you to open your eyes to the truth, and not believe everything people tell you. The title is what drove me to want to read this book and I recommend this book to any and everything.

I wasn't let down at all with this book. I was a little surprised at something though- I love, love, love Wahida Clark so when i saw that this book was actually too seperate stories, one by each author, I thought for sure I'd like Clarks' better than Kiki Swinson. Well, needless to say, Swinsons' story blew me away! I wish it had been full length and I am so looking forward to reading more by her very soon. Wahida Clarks story was by no means a let down either but hers never are. Definitely a must read for any urban-lit reader!

Wow, Wathida and KiKi brought the heat with these two stories people. This was a pretty quick read for me because it was sooo interesting that I could NOT put it down. I picked it up in passing at my local Walmart. There are two stories within the book, I NEVER buy books like this, ones written by two authors, but I am so glad that I did! This is a very good book filled with a lil hood drama, scandal and deception BIG TIME, it was very good!!! If you like urban reads, grab this one...even if you don't like urban fiction I think you will enjoy this one!

This was a pretty good read. I didn't know it was 2 stories in one and probably wouldn't have bought it if I had known. I'm not a fan of KiKi Swinson, but I love Wahida Clark, however in this book, KiKi stepped up her game and I enjoyed her story better than Wahida's. I finally decided Wahida's main character was reallly dumb, but it was still filled with drama. They both were. Not a bad read at all.

Honestly I liked this book but in a totally different way then I liked my Thug Series but the book was silly and raw. Though I didn't understand why Kreesha didn't upgrade from the whole situation, it was good. it silly and raw because that's how life goes in the hood for real, I couldn't help but laugh at 'em.
