Upon first glance, Emma Harper may seem to be an ordinary high school sophomore navigating the mundane complexities of her everyday life. However, her world dramatically shifts when she experiences sudden blindness, instigating a fearful anticipation that her life may have irrevocably changed. When her sight returns, Emma's perception is altered, and she finds herself unsure of the new reality her vision presents. This ignites an intriguing question - what new challenges will Emma have to confront daily?

In Opened, S.T. Sanchez crafts an extraordinary narrative that bridges the gap between our human realm and the ethereal Fey world. The author exhibits a unique character-building talent, sculpting personalities from both universes with such veracity that they spring to life in the reader's imagination. The vivid, multifaceted portrayal of these characters and the worlds they inhabit is nothing short of magical. The Fey world, in particular, was so authentically depicted that I found myself thoroughly immersed, experiencing its mystical allure firsthand. It was as though this world transcended fiction and gained an existence of its own.

The dynamic between Emma and Dante, our protagonists, was captivating. Despite the chasm of difference that separates their respective worlds, there was an underlying hope that their paths would converge in a meaningful way. Their journey, filled with unexpected twists and high-stakes crises, had me engrossed, my heart pounding in sync with the escalating tension in the plot. Throughout the narrative, I found myself rooting for Emma and Dante, hoping they could navigate their conflicts and potentially realize the profound bond developing between them.

From its compelling world-building to its intricate characters and engaging plot, Opened secured my interest from the outset and kept me hooked until the very last page. While it is perfectly suited for preteen and teenage readers, it also extends an invitation to adult readers. As an adult reviewer, I can attest to the novel's broad appeal and thoroughly enjoyed this standalone story from S.T. Sanchez.

When I read the summary for Opened I couldn’t wait to start reading it. I thought I knew what I would find between the pages but I was sadly wrong. What I did find was way better than I ever imagined it would be. I sorely enjoyed reading Opened. I was hooked from the first page I couldn’t take my eyes away from the pages. I love the world that was created for Opened. I loved getting to know all the characters and following them along on their journeys.

Opened kept me racing to the end to see how it all was going to turn out. It left me surprised on more than one occasion with all its twists and turns. When Emma lost her sight I was in tears. I could only imagine what she was feeling and her mom when she called her to come and get her from school. Oh, and then later at home when her brother came in.

But I was so happy for Emma when she awakened the next day and her sight had returned. I could just feel Emma, her mom, and her brother as they rejoiced with her. Emma had gained more than her sight. The world around her has changed. Emma could now see more than she could before.

Emma has been introduced to a whole new world. She has found out that the fantasy world of the Fae was not fantasy. It really existed. She can now see that her new friends are Fae. At first, she has no idea what they are. She goes to her brother as he knows a lot about things like this.

Emma’s world changes at this point as she enters the world of the Fae. Danger lurks around every corner. Emma being human is not supposed to know that the Fae exist. Emma’s new sight turns out to be very dangerous for her and the people she cares about. Emma has a long journey ahead of her just trying to stay alive and making sure that the ones she loves do too.

Opened is an amazing and thrilling read one that I enjoyed tremendously and would like to recommend it to all fans of the Fae and magical realms. Grab your copy of Opened today for an amazing adventure!

‘A complex fantasy adventure packed full of twists, turns – and danger!’ The Wishing Shelf

REVIEW
This is a very enjoyable YA novel from the pen of S T Sanchez. It follows a teenager called Emma who seems to be losing her sight. But is she!? Not when a new and rather terrifying fantasy world can be seen – the world of the Fey.
I must say, I thought this was a compelling read. Emma, the protagonist, is worthy of rooting for, and trust me when I tell you, there’s a lot going on. So much so, I got a little confused in parts. But that’s okay; in fact, in a way, it’s good that it’s not ‘dumbed down’ for the YA reader. The writing style is accessible too, the author adept at using speech to develop the characters.
All in all, I’m very happy to recommend this fast-paced novel to anybody aged 13 – 16. I think they’ll enjoy the originality of the plot, and the fact there’s never a dull moment; in fact, it’s ALL GO from the very first chapter. So, if fantasy, mystery, romance, and adventure is your ‘thing’, check out Opened. It’ll keep you turning the page all the way to the exciting end.

The characters were well developed I thought, and the storyline was good. Worldbuilding was decent. There was lots of twist and turns (I got a little confused) with drama and some chaos. There was a smidge of humor here and there but nothing to write home about. Overall, the book was a good book that I would recommend and would read again to catch things that I missed that were hidden as I feel like I must have missed some jems. I have read this author before and love the works I have read some I know that this should have been a 5-star book so I no I need to reread and figure out why I only gave 4. Give it a try though as it was decent.

Whilst at college, Emma suddenly loses her sight, but it is miraculously restored the following morning with no explanation.

With her new super-powered sight she notices something strange about two other students. Why do they both have pointed ears? and does one of them really have wings?

What follows is a dangerous trip to the world of the Fey, a series of life threatening situations, betrayal, lies and a quest to save both her family and also the whole of mankind.

Beautifully written with great characters, this is an exciting introduction to the fairy realm and some of the creatures that inhabit it. I'm looking forward to the series continuing

Opened, my fourth read from author S. T. Sanchez. A well-written YA fantasy read, I liked it! “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Oooooo I love this!!! Being gifted with "the sight" but having to lose your mortal vision first is an incredible new addition to a fae trope!!! This has excellent and I mean excellent world building and fantastic backstory and character development!! A really engaging and fun read that really does suck you right into the world right alongside the protagonist! I definitely recommend this book!

Emma life changes when she realizes there is more to the world than she thought. When she begins to see that Dante and Francesca are more than they seem. Danta does something against the Fey laws and things get quite intense. His sister Francesca is very selfish and thinks only of what's best for her. When she befriends Emma's brother JJ things get really complicated. She betrays her brother Dante with a very bad fairy name Griffin. Lots of twist and turns and a real page turner. A great standalone novel.
