As Wiccans and Neo-Pagans in modern society, we find ourselves frequently trying to figure out how to perceive the Divine. The names of gods and goddeses are often part of conversation, yet how do we connect with these beings? How do we fit these ancient characters into modern life? Here is where God/Goddess comes in. The goal in the writing of this book is to honor both sides of the Divine equation in their most common archetypal roles.
The back and forth of A.J. Drew and Patricia Telesco's writing of the God and Goddess gives insight and balance to these personages. We see both the Goddess and the God as lover, creator, keeper of the home fires, and other roles.
I found this to be a good intro to the Wicca way of thinking about the Divine. And, a good source of the Gods and Goddesses to work with or call upon for specific instances.
The author is pissed. Yes we get it you don't like feminists. No need to complain about them every two seconds ! Both authors make the mistake to see culturally assigned qualities to genders as innate qualities.
I am quite familiar with paganism, so some of it is old hat for me, but the authors do make their point about how both genders need to be represented in modern paganism. I'm slowly going through it, some of it is useful for me, some of it I skip. I'm still working on it. The text makes you want to take it in in small doses, so that you can savor it. Still working on it. I am also reading other books simultaneously.
