This book gave me what I was looking for which was an overview of the Middle East countries. In general it does a nice job of giving a brief, factual account of each country. There are some commentaries which I'm sure some people would consider opinion, but they are easy to spot so they didn't bother me.
If you're looking for a more in-depth overview of some of the smaller countries, you would need to find a book specific to that country.

A concise, easy-to-read overview of the individual countries located in the Middle East. This revised edition is about 6 years old now, but otherwise fit my purposes.
