A great and unusual way to look at the gospel of Mark. Juel argues that Mark uses the element of surprise in order to catch the reader's attention, which makes the Gospel especially compelling. Although I was not totally convinced by this explanation, Juel does give a good explanation for several passages that are otherwise hard to understand.
