I personally don't think too much of the over-the-top, batshit crazy action scenes, but the calmer moments in between are really doing it for me. Like, I love it when these characters just sit and eat together. And how everyone was going out of their way to help Jiji in this volume? God, how wholesome.
Exorcisim using metal. That is my jam. As last volume was action heavy, this has much more character moments and small interactions, which are so cute and full of life. It makes my heart smile.
I LOVE THIS MANGA SO MUCH. I love the focus on the characters this volume. The expansion of momo and okaruns relationship is so WHOLESOME AND ROMANTIC. I LOVE THEM. Also love turbo granny. She is an icon and diva. Jiji and his empathy towards the yokai in him was so wholesome to me and I just know he can learn to control it. Love the training ish arc near the end too. Okarun will get stronger. I know it
There isn't as much action until the last chapter, which is a training fight. Most of this volume is the character growth and interaction as they try to control the Evil Eye yokai Jiji has. They all move in together, train, and Momo gets a job. It's mostly fun, but again in a fight, Momo's shirt gets ripped open, and that page was weird. Then Jiji's face after he sees how badly he hurt his friends.
Series: Dandadan Ch. 50-58 Rating: 4 stars - It was really good
In this volume the gang goes back to school while trying to figure out how to deal with Evil Eye in Jiji’s body. I enjoyed this volume. It was interesting to see how all the different people change into their forms. Jiji’s is very interesting because it's so easy for him to switch to Evil Eye. I am very interested in seeing how he progresses in controlling Evil Eye.
This volume ends with Turbo Granny and Ikarun sneaking into a building so she can train him to be stronger. It will be interesting to see where this battle leads.
Dandadan Volume 7 continues to impress. The relationship between Momo and Kenji is genuinely endearing, their chemistry is undeniable (even that little hand-holding scene!). However, the central conflict of this volume revolves around the compelling struggle to save their friend from the terrifying Evil Eye transformation.
I appreciated the deliberate pacing here, which allowed for some welcome character exploration alongside the series' signature blend of horror and humor. And speaking of humor, the maid outfit sequence was pure Dandadan gold. If you've enjoyed the series' unique mix of genres and its engaging characters, Volume 7 is another fantastic volume.
Cuanta maldad.
Alright this volume was amazing! It didn't felt repetitive as I mentioned before, it's probably one of my favorites. I'm loving the way this is developing and the characters as well. Let's see what comes next! The next chapters are already out so I'll continue to read and when the volumes are published I'll update here with my brief review as always, until then I'll just write in my notes about it :))
It all started as a little bet. Each wanted to prove the existence of the supernatural to their new friend, and neither was willing to listen. This quickly turns to chaos as a haunted tunnel and horny aliens get thrown into the mix.
The attempt to save Jiji and his family home isn't going well. In fact, it's safe to say that these two friends have never been in more danger. They'll have to get creative if they want to survive what is to come.
Review:
Holy cats. Dandadan Vol. 7 is a whirlwind of events. We have three characters (four? Should I count Granny Cat?) fighting for their lives, all while dozens of antagonists run around, get in the way, and try to kill everyone else. It's a chaotic mess.
In other words, it's Dandadan in a nutshell. The beginning of this volume leans more into the action/drama of the plot, but we do get back to that comedy baseline by the end. Since I love that balance, I'm not complaining!
I do wonder how big of a role Jiji will play going forward. The addition before him was hardly around for this arc, so we'll have a rotating cast (outside of Momo and Okarun, that is). I think that could work well, but we'll have to see what the author has in mind.

3.75 ⭐️ read this half awake on a plane to japan, and i am certain it would have still made as much logical sense that splashing jiji with hot or cold water could awaken or stifle the evil eye had i read it fully conscious, and there’s beauty in that
I love this series, this specific volume just happens to come after a major arc so the story is slowly building to the next big action arc. That is the reason the rating is lower, because I am trying to keep myself realistic on ratings 😔😦 (but I promise I love Dan da Dan) 😸
