English title: Transmigrating as the Supporting Male Lead’s Sweetheart
This was a quick and entertaining read featuring the FL transmigrating into a fic written about her. The twist is that she doesn't transmigrate as herself but as low level celebrity known for her gorgeous looks but nasty personality, and she has to build up her career and reputation again from scratch. I thought the concept was pretty interesting.
I was thoroughly entertained as I was reading since there was plenty of face slapping both in person and online, as you commonly find in showbiz novels, and finished the story in a day or so.
The FL is Yan Yan, an acclaimed actress who has won numerous awards in her mid-20s. One day she reads a fic that pairs her with a popular singer songwriter called Bai Chen and ends up transmigrating into said story. However, she wakes up as Tang Tang, a newcomer to the industry who already has a lot of antifans due to her terrible personality. Essentially the story follows the FL as she slowly clears up Tang Tang's reputation and builds her acting career again, first through joining a travel variety show and then by filming various dramas.
Tang Tang is helped by the ML, Ming Shaoyan, who starts out as her long lost biological uncle in the story. He also happens to be the young wealthy CEO of one of the biggest players in the entertainment industry, so he's well situated to help her. However, the FL has read the whole fic and knows that MSY somehow made a mistake with the genetic tests and they're not actually related.
Tang Tang initially plans on getting close to the ML and using his resources to clean up her reputation before she tells him the truth, but in the process of living together, they start developing feelings for each other. That's fine for the FL, since she knows about them not being related, but the ML is absolutely tortured by his feelings and even starts talking to a psychiatrist about this problem. Luckily they get over this hurdle relatively quickly and the sweetness begins. However, as with most showbiz novels, they don't get to spend a lot of time physically together due to the nature of their jobs, so while the romance is sweet, it's on the lighter side.
The ML is super supportive of Tang Tang too, which I really appreciate. At one point she wants to act in a drama that is completely unfunded because she really likes the script, and when she tells him about it, he just invests 100 million into the project without asking anything else. Where can I find a man like that?? XP
I would recommend this book for readers who enjoy face slapping, as there's quite a bit of that. Most of it happens with Yan Yan's character in the fic. Turns out there's a second person, not from the showbiz industry, who transmigrated into Yan Yan's character, and she's has a downright nasty personality and feels entitled to everything Yan Yan has even though she didn't do anything to achieve it herself. Our FL ends up butting heads with her on multiple occasions and always comes out as the better person/actress. It was so satisfying to read how the public sentiment gradually shifts in the FL's favor.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book for what it is. After reading another story that I wasn't interested in where the plot dragged, this was a breath of fresh air.
