Fun facts: I loved this so much as a kid. I grew up during a time when Sesame Street was still fun and not overly politically correct yet, ha. My mom says I was reading by age 4 because of Sesame Street. But before reading, I remember vividly loving the illustrations in the stories of this book. So much so, that years later, I found it in a thrift store and bought it and put it in my Hope chest for babies down the road. Sad part of the story: somewhere between the last two moves of my life, the book disappeared from my Hope chest. After many months of trying to remember what the actual title was, we finally found it again through the library and Lucy and I are enjoying it together!!

The illustrations, though...the stories are fun, especially the Bert and Ernie ones, so LOL...but I still vividly remember the pictures, the colors, the lines, and how different and exciting the different art styles are in this book!! Pretty sure this is a collection that inspired me to think I could someday illustrate a book.

I vaguely remember some of these stories from when I was a child, but I just finished reading the whole book of stories with my 3-year-old daughter, and it is far better than I remembered. The stories are all great little Sesame Street vignettes. The writing is quite good--much better than many (though not all) of the Disney storybooks we've been reading. The biggest problem we ran into were some characters that don't feature on the show anymore (Herry Monster, Betty Sue, Mumford the Magician) that had to be explained. My daughter is looking forward to starting over again!
