If you've read 'One Hundred & Thirty-Six Scars', then you'll remember Braxton "Hella" Ward as the insensitive, promiscuous biker that had a thing for Meadow's friend, Melissa. I'd like to say that by the end of this book that I came to understand the reasons for Hella's obnoxious behavior, but I can't. I did grow to like him a little more, but that's about all I can say for him.

Whereas Melissa Hart was kind of "along for the ride" in the first book, 'Hellraiser' focuses on her tumultuous relationship with Hella. This is a guy that enjoyed flaunting other women in her face, just to get a rise out of her. Yet, despite her tough reputation, she can't seem to get enough of this jackass. I guess we all have our weaknesses!

The Army is also out for revenge. As The Devil's Own plan for Beast and Meadow's wedding, The Army has their own plans underway. Once again, Melissa finds herself on "lockdown" at the club compound.

While some things never change, like the repeat of a crisis requiring a lockdown at the biker club, there were a few new elements to this story. Melissa's estranged sister, shows up on her doorstep. She is very secretive about why she's left her life behind as a nun, but it is clear that she is running scared from something.

Of course, we also get more of Melissa's story. From the once naive college girl, to the strong woman that she grew into, it is easy to see how her life events made her the person that she is. Her past was a brutal one.

In more ways than one, the past collides with the present in this book. Seemingly unrelated events end up being anything but "unrelated". Eventually, it all comes to light in a brutal twist.

While I still had many of the same issues with this book that I had with the first book in the series, I do think that there were some improvements in the writing and editing. Yes, the author still uses phrases like "deep, shallow breaths" and "usually, always", which drives me crazy. However, these mistakes did seem to be less frequent.

Like the first book, things just seemed to happen without any reasonable transition. For example, Hella's character is all about sleeping around and he flaunts the fact that he isn't going to settle down right up until the moment that he does. Before you could blink, he has committed himself to Melissa and has an entire personality change without any explanation or plausible progression of his feelings being portrayed.

It was like the author needed certain things to happen for the story to go where she wanted it to, so she just wrote it without making an attempt to make it believable. It was like reading the creation story. You know, "Let there be light" and it just happens. Things fell together too easily.

Similarly, the conflict between Melissa and Hella seemed contrived just to create some drama. It was pretty ridiculous. Then was forgotten just as easily. I definitely rolled my eyes a few times.

I once again find myself curious about where the next book will go. 'Hellraiser' ended with a huge cliffhanger. Even though this book was just an "okay" read for me, I am dying to know what happens in the next book with Melissa's sister. I'm having a bit of deja vu here, since I felt the exact same way after finishing the first book. So, I'm going to read the next one, but if it doesn't improve significantly, I'm calling it quits for this series. I hope I don't regret it.

Hellraiser is my first book by Amo Jones and a great introduction to her style of writing. And yes I know it's part of a series, but I read out of order a lot if the blurb of a later book in a series catches my attention more than the first. As was the case with this series. But I am definitely going back to read One Hundred Thirty-Six Scars. Even though this was the second book in The Devil's Own series, I never got lost. I think for many they would want to read the first book before this one, but Amo did a good job at explaining some of the things that happened before these events so it was never confusing.

I loved the intensity that was between Melissa and Hella and how their characters were written. It wasn't a enemies to lovers kind of attraction, it was a hate-love. One of those relationships that some people would say was unhealthy, but really they just don't understand that under all the hate you see on the outside, there's ten time more love on the inside. Both Melissa and Hella have hidden depths that you have to dig to find, and I promise you it will just make you love them more.

I like dark books, but I think I've also become a little too used to some of the usual things that happen in them. So now I need some pretty messed up stuff to happen for me to consider a book actually dark and for it to please my black soul. And Hellraiser definitely had it. I'm really not sure how demented this author truly is to write this, but whatever is going on in her brain is working for her books.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and recommend it for any dark lovers like me. The connection between Melissa and Hella was very interesting and I think others will find themselves enthralled with their story just like I did.

This book can get a bit graphic
The hero for most of the book is a man whore
There are triggers!

THANK YOU MS. JONES!
This is the second book of the Devils Own Series and I loved it!!! This is the story of Hella and Melissa.

We get a piece of Hella and Melissa's relationship in book one but both characters have been brought up in Amo Jonesother books as well. No it's not necessary to read the previous books but as always I recommend it. It can help with the back stories but you WILL NOT be lost if you don't read them.

I honestly didn't care for Melissa in the previous books but after her story I felt for her, became Team Melissa and her cheerleader along the way. This book can be a hard read, the things Melissa has been through gut punched me. I no longer view her as reckless and annoying but strong and broken. Her relationship with Hella is toxic. It's a train wreck from the start but as they both grow you can't help but want them to work out.

 photo melissa_zpskef6yhyi.jpg

Hella is a piece of shit!! Most of the book I hated him. I was like please someone rip his dick off! As always with Ms Jone's books she can turn a hated character into the man you want to marry. Once Hella got his shit together I freaken adored him. I was like Go Hella! Go Hella! Lol But be careful, he is by no means soft. He loves Melissa fiercely and to protect her he does some pretty crazy shit.

I truly enjoyed this book from start to finish. I don't want to go into detail about the book because it'll just give things away that you should experience. Read it! See for yourself and in the end you'll be Team Hella and Melissa too!

This book started with a bang!!! Its prologue was fantastic and made me think this was going to be intensely dark, it was at times but more so at the beginning and end.
At times through the book I kept finding myself a little disappointed that rather than a continuation of the first book it was more a repeat from a different POV. Now I am finished the book I can see how important that story was to tell for the series.
I really enjoyed Melissa, her spunk, fire and fuck you attitude was kickass.
 photo upyoursGIF_zpsa5apq1ih.gif
Still not sold on Hella I mean the guy was PYSCHO!!! But he was hot so I found my emotions were mixed.
 photo upanddownemotions_zpskwofkxtz.gif
I also was a bit bummed at the ending as I thought the characters story had not finished, I am sure we will see them in book three.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and it has set a foundation up for some more great books.
Beware haters of Cliffhangers, you will not be pleased.

Oh I like and I love Hella and Melissa. I knew their story would be worth it and just knowing that I kind of read Books 3 and 4 before any, kinds of work out, how this author can write such amazing funny sexy hot bad boy bikers and their Old Lady just makes it worth the read.

At first I kind of found Melissa abit too much but once you get to know what her story was about you'll not be disappointed but with Hella OMG talk about sizzling hot and how Hella is definitely owns the Hellraiser.

I'm on this Amo Jones buzz and I'm practically glued to her books.

"Do you wanna know how I know so much about girls like you ,baby?
Cos I took one apart just to see how she worked"

WOW! WHAT I JUST READ ?!?

Hella and Melissa brought me on a rollercoaster of emotions and lust I don't think I ready to leave

I absolutely loved it.

Hella was heartless, fierce and sexy . He's everything you should stay far away from and the only think you'll never resist...

Melissa was passionate, strong and independent . She's crazy and passionate about everything she believe in .

She built walls so high around her heart that she was sure no one would ever try to break them .

But she didn't considered one thing : everything is breakable for the right price.

They both share a very difficult past that made them stronger and diffident then ever towards each other ...

Their demons attracted each other , they recognized the crazy and damaged souls ...

They were meant to happen .

"I can't promise you that I won't kill anyone who looks at you for a second too long, but I can promise you that I'll love you forever"

The chemistry between them and all that sexy scenes were something else. ✨

I wasn't able to put it down not for a second, I think I finished the whole thing in one sitting.

The MC world is so much intriguing , all that plot twists and violence were something else...

They are like a drug

"I'm teasing the devil and I know it, but the dark place inside me craves it."

So I couldn't give this one less then 5 Stars...⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It can be a really triggering book to read , so if you aren't strong enough for some pretty crazy scene I wouldn't read it.

But for me I think it's to late , I'm definitely hooked to this world, without a way out ...

I hope you'll enjoy it like I did✨

2.75 stars!

Up to 40% we read the same story as it was in first book. Totally the same. It is written from Melissa and Hella POV, but there are only few new details we find out about their relationship. So, it was quite boring for me. After that story started developing with normal pace but without any intriguing happening.

This author writes so addictive!
At times some things irritated me, but I still enjoyed this very much!

At first I felt so terrible for Melissa and what she went through.. I like my heroines very strong and sassy, but it's so sad what they sometimes need to go through before becoming so strong!

Sometimes I felt like Melissa still let Hella play with her feelings. She went through so much already and than all that..
I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue the series, but with the preview we got I knew I needed to continue.

Over all, I really enjoyed this read. There were two parts I did not condone the violence, in fact, I was abhorred and got a little miffed over what happened even though I was well aware that Hella was cold and violent due to his time with The Army. Ack, it's just....the acts he did to those women did not sit well with me at all. It was horrible. It did leave a huge stain for me about his character and carry on throughout, I won't lie. But, I did like him otherwise.

Hella and Melissa's relationship was not bad. The transition from not being together to together, for me, could have gone a little smoother as I felt it could have gone a little more fluidly and their progress as an individual person and couple could have been expanded more upon.

Otherwise, can't wait to dig into Millie's story! Why is it part 1 btw?

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

Get ready to go on one Hella of a ride with this book. From the first time Melissa meets Hella to the last word, you will be craving more. These two have such a hatred towards each other, and with so much sexual chemistry that they don't know how to fight it. When they fight they both have come back lines that will make you blush, laugh or be Oh No he/she didn't! When these two finally get together, just be for warned that you Kindle might combust. In this book you get so many emotions with all the twist, turns and surprises. The secondary characters come in at the right time to help feed to the emotions that your feeling.

This was the first book I have read from Amo, but I'm hooked now and ready to read more.

Ok, first off why haven't I read this series months ago?? These characters in this series are freaking awesome! So much going on between the Men and their soon to be women. This is Hella and Melissa's story. And no kidding I didn't want to put my Kindle down. Lots and lots of action. Again, the sexual tension between them had my heart pumping. The author throws us a curve ball towards the end. She is gutt wrenching my heart. I love this type of read. Off to book three!!! Because yassssss!! My new favorite series!!

I was excited about Hella's book! And it was a good one but again Miss Jones threw at me many subplots that made me lose interest in the main couple and I hate it because HELLAAAAAAAA!!! He was a douche but oh boy he was my douche!

Melissa.... she was not my favorite but thank gawd she wasn't like Meadow so that's a win-win!

This is the second book I read by Amo Jones and even tho my ratings haven't been wow, she is definitely an author I will keep reading no matter what. Her writing is simply addictive.

Anyway, I'm starting the next one RIGHT NOW because well, Amo Jones just hooked me with the preview she gave me at the end of Hellraiser so here I go.

I really tried...

I just don't dig the story or the characters :/

I absolutely made no connection with them...and it all seems like a huge messed up blur of a plot to add the tension...

My bad...and it actually has less to do with the fact they are bikers than i expected...and i really, really tried
But sometimes it's even beyond my comprehention as why things don't work...Sometimes, they just don't :/

Not rating it...since i won't be finishing it

I'll still follow this author's work, though
Cause this is on me alone and my current state of mind, body and soul...

They say there are defining points in your life – moments where you f**ked it all up, moments that make you its bitch, moments that shape you into the person you are.
The day I met Braxton Ward was one of my moments.
My name’s Melissa Hart, and I don’t think you’re ready for this story.

Hella
I go by a few names: Hella, Brax, 112, or, depending on whether I’ve been balls deep in you or not, C*nt. I don’t push the boundaries because in order to do so, one must have them. I’ve never had them. Being homeless at the not-so-tender age of fifteen morphed me into an emotionless shell, and when The Army recruited me, that shell turned into steel.
They say if fire is hot enough, it can melt steel; the hate that burns between Melissa Hart and me just might be hot enough.
Shit doesn’t come easy for us. Enemies are expanded, secrets are revealed, and lives will be taken. Yeah, I’m Braxton “Hella” Ward, and you bet your f*cking ass that you ain’t ready for this story.

Review:
“His hand wraps around my hair. He tugs at it until my head lifts to his. His other hand travels down my back, leaving goosebumps in its wake. He grips my as tightly, his eyes filled with dark excitement. ‘You forgot one thing.’ He runs his nose down mine before pulling my bottom lip into his mouth where he bites down on it roughly. ‘And what’s that?’ I pant. ‘You’re mine.’”

5 twisted stars! Hold on tight this book is dark and hot!

If you thought book one was twisted and sexy, then hang on for book two, because it’s 10x as sexy! I’m utterly in love with Hella!! And may secretly love Melissa, for obvious reasons of course!! The story is twisted and dark, and very gritty!!! I love love love this series and I want more!!!

5 MOTHERF*CKING HELLA STARS

Hold just a minute. Where the hell did this come from? I thought Beast was intense, but bloody oaf intense and alpha are massive f*cking understatements to describe Hella and Melissa. I loved it. The raw passion and the intensity of how they feel for each other vibrated off the screen. It was so palpable I felt like I was gonna suffocate from it. And holy crap, if I didn't just make the connection between Melissa and Millie and Raze. Damn. It sucks cos I read Razing Grace before this but it ALL MAKES SENSE NOW. I honestly have no words. None. I'm so f*cking speechless as to how to express my love for this book. And the connections? And the sex? Ugggh. Out of this world amazing. I loved the references to the All Blacks and New Zealand. Churrrr, the All Blacks. Despite living here in Kangaroo land, New Zealand will always have a soft spot in my heart. And the Tim Tams? Bruhhh, I died. If there ever were an award for best alpha male? It would be Hella. But then again. There's Raze. Ugggh so hard to choose.

Hella and Melissa. The chemistry these two exuded is unknown to this world. That was some crazy love/hate relationship going on with them. But my fave part? The softer side of Hella. The side only Melissa can bring out of him. Motherf*cking SWOON. I swear, Amo just keeps giving me more and more reasons to love her and it's addictive. AMAZING READ!

Hella....what a man! My man! He is everything. Dark, hot as hell and built for sin. Found myself thinking up a few 'sins' I'd like to try with Hella!

So we know that Hella and Melissa had something going on from Beasts book, but we didn't know quite what....and it all unfolds here...and let me tell you it was FANTASTIC!

Melissa takes no crap, but nor does Hella...so let the games begin! And of course The Army are up to their old tricks.

We meet Millie in this book (Melissa's sister, the nun!) and Phoebe, Jada and Meadow also feature heavily. I just adored the side characters in this book.

The writing in this book is top notch and it has EVERYTHING an MC book should have and more.

You will all fall in love with Hella. And that's a promise.

Now I think I may have found my soul mate in this book, Frost. I won't tell you why as a) it will spoil it and b) you will all know just how sick I am!!

“The Army bonded us together. He’s my bromate.”

“His mouth comes to my ear as he growls, “You can’t fuck a fucker, baby, and you can’t bullshit a bullshitter.”

These are two excerpts from the book that sum up my rating in a nutshell. Cringe. Cringe. More cringe. The dialogue was awful, the characters were awful. I have a headache. It was pages of nothing but trying-too-hard banter. The hero Hella (again, cringe) also had a special relationship with OW. So many things I didn’t like. I’m not biting into their “romance” in the slightest. Next.

Holy. Shit. I absolutely loved One Hundred and Thirty Six Scars but what I feel for Hellraiser puts that love to shame. I think I lasted two days before starting Hellraiser and I did not put it down. It just had me screaming I hate you Hella, then saying I love you Hella, wanting to yell at both Hella and Melissa to get their heads out of their asses and just stop the fighting. I need a wardrobe change if you know what I mean and my friend who I was messaging with during my reading was like my dealer she just kept saying don’t stop keep you. I may have also called Amo Jones some well let’s say creative names but I did mean them out of love.

Hella wasnt my favorite character in the previous book because he was acting like a massive asshole towards Melissa but she wasn’t an angel either. The sexual tension between these two in that book was off the charts, in Hellraiser it is so much more that you almost want to lock them in a room and yell get it on again already. I don’t know if I have ever loved and hated a character at the same time like I did Hella for the majority of the book, but I did. Even when I wanted to take his own gun and shoot him with it, I still loved him. Trust me Hella is one of those characters that get under your skin in both good and bad ways. Once he wakes up and decides to make Melissa his, I was ecstatic because I knew that he was going to give her hell but also protect her with every breath he had. I knew he was going to do something and I am glad he did because they deserved much worse.

Melissa she comes across as this sarcastic, strong and sassy, almost bitchy at times woman but there is so much more beneath the surface that you didn’t see in the first book. Something horrible happened in her past, I wanted blood when I read about it, I wanted death because she should never had gone through that. I was so angry when she told Hella not to act, because you knew there was no way he was going to let something like that go especially when she was his, in the past or not, she was his and he needed to do it. I know a lot of her actions and attitude are because of how Hella treated her before and a couple times I wanted to remind her that they weren’t together at the time no matter how much she may have wanted to be or not.

Hellraiser can be read as a standalone but I think I loved it even more because I did read One Hundred And Thirty Six Scars first and I wanted to know their story even back then. Amo Jones knows how to completely hook you into the stories she writes and makes you wish that you didn’t have to do other things just so you can never stop reading. This book is dark at times, it is erotic, it fucks with your mind and heart and I loved every single moment of it. This is a definite must read, just make sure you don’t have to do anything when you start reading because you won’t want to put the book down.

Wow. It doesn't take long for the action to start.

Hella....is one sick violent dude. Even before "the army" he was on the wrong side of the tracks. After he crosses a line when he's a teenager, his life changes, making him into the man he is today. He's arrogant, a player and you really don't want to mess with him. But boy does he do something for me. I loved Hella so much.

Melissa has suffered through some pretty traumatic events in her past. She comes across as a bit of a party girl but really she's just trying to cope. When she meets Hella, sparks fly between them. There's a fine line between love and hate as these two soon find out.

With The Devils Own club still determined to find and end "The Army" once and for all, Melissa finds herself up close and personal with Hella when she has to move into the compound. With the re-appearance of someone from Melissa's past, the plot thickens and just when you think you know what's going to happen next, another curveball is thrown at you.
I love this MC club. The characters are brilliant. Maybe not "normal" but you can't help but love them, flaws and all.

I can't wait for the next book in this series and I'm really hoping Amo Jones does a book for Frost...he is one sick little puppy. I definitely need to delve into his head and see what makes him tick.

There are some pretty gruesome, graphic scenes described in this book (which I have to admit made me love it more) , it is all relevant to the story but be warned if that's not your kind of thing.

Holy S***!!! I absolutely loved this book!!! It took me a few hours after finishing to be able to pull myself together! Every bloody emotion ran through me as i was reading!!! Talk about be dragged into the story!... I was there, in the book, as a character, and went through absolutely EVERY SINGLE THING they did!!!
This book is Hella's story and if you've read book 1, you will understand as to where every one fits together and how brilliantly written it is!!!
Without giving anything away, which is hard as so many situations pop up, with twists and turns at every page... It's hard to put into words, exactly how fantastic this book is!!!
It's written with a deep passion and like i mentioned, you will get dragged right in... And the passion between Hella and Melissa is mind blowing and will make your toes curl!!! Then just when you think things are great, Ms Jones adds a huge explosion into the mix, that will leave you gob smacked and speechless!!!
I would recommend this book as a huge 10/10 read and if i could, i would have loved to award a higher rating than 5 stars, but sadly i can't... So a maximum rating it is from me and i truly can't wait to discover more secrets that i guarantee are planned for next in series and i am so damn excited... I'll be counting down the days!!!

This is next installment to the series and I did like it but not as much as the first. Am interested in the next, want to see what happens.

My five star rating is for the full series this far, four books. So this review will reflect that.
I was fortunate to be able to read these all back to back, so got the full effect of the story, and am looking forward to more.
One Hundred & Thirty-six Scars
I loved the story, right from the start I felt drawn in, as if I was in a familiar setting.
The story starts with Meadow, at four years old, where we learn about the horrors of her young life. then we meet Beast at age 14, learning a bit of his early life.
The couple are first introduced under strenuous circumstances, when both are still no more than children, and then their lives continue, until they are reunited once again about ten years later.
And so their story begins.
This is not a story for the lighthearted, as there are several triggers that may upset people.
So far it's an amazing story.

We have met both characters in One Hundred & Thirty-six Scars, so neither are new to the reader.
Melissa had a rough start in her early teenage years, but has come through and can once again hold her head high, and continue on with her life. Melissa and her friend Phoebe have always hung out with the Sinful Souls Motorcycle club, so she knows about club life and what it is like to be involved, although she runs her own bakery, and lives a separate life from club life, and a sister who is a nun. Sounds pretty normal!
It's through the Souls connection with the Devil's Own that Meadow is put back in touch with Hella, her savior. There is a huge attraction between the two, sparks fly and they get it on behind the clubrooms!
But the next day, Hella doesn't even recognise Melissa. Well that goes down like a ton of bricks, and so the hate begins!
Again we get an intense action filled story with alpha males aplenty.
You wont be bored reading this book!

Damn, do I love Hella! Dark, depraved and sexy as Hell!!!
“You so much as look at a man too long, I’ll gut him from the inside out, fuck you in front of his dead corpse, and unload myself all over his lifeless body. Got it?”

Initially intermingled with way too much repetition (exact scenes from book #1 are retold from Melissa‘s perspective instead of Meadow’s and from Hella‘s perspective instead of Beast’s), this is the most sizzling hot romance I’ve read in years! The chemistry between Melissa and Hella it is just off the charts!!!!! I was on the edge of my seat, waiting to for them to succumb to their resistance of one another. Of course they finally do, and sadly, they give in without any reason which was disappointing for me. Though there are still some minor errors, this book is a million times better edited and proofread than book # 1 too!!

Helly wow …. Okay so Brax as we know him as Agen 112 is best friends with our man Beast. We met Beast in One Hundred and Thirty Six Scars … if you have no read it – go grab it up first. You don’t have to read it to understand whats going on in Hellraiser but in order to keep going with the series you should and you need to know what in the world is happening in incredible story line.

We meet Brax at 15 living underneath a bridge homeless with his friend Tippy; an elderly man that is homeless as well but considered ruthless. However Tippy has taken Brax under his wing and wants more for him. While Tippy was giving Brax or Hella as we know him another good talking too, Brax is taken by The Army and Tippy killed. Now that is all Im going to spoil for you in this release.

Fast forward to present day with Beast as the President and Brax as the VP of the MC.
The MC is coming to war. They are hunting Kurr and trying to protect their families while brining him down. Phoebe is not stranger to the MC and being Melissa’s best friend she comes under the protection of the club. Hella getting whatever he wants knows he is going to dip into this woman once … because once is all he does. Melissa’s past is tragic.

Here I will state if you have a trigger for violence against women DO NOT click this up OR go past it. The description is somewhat graphic and not for the faint of heart. In fact there are a few graphic moments that might send you over the edge so please take care and know if you cannot read violence of any sort or against women this is NOT the book for you.

Moving on Melissa will never allow a man to have the upper hand. She uses them as stepping stones so getting her freak on with this tattooed badass one time is not a problem .. until it becomes a problem. There is so much banter and game playing between these two is comical. Jada as we met prior is also here and shows us a side of Hella that you would not have ever imagined he had in him. And this my friends along with when he does anything its full force 100 percent hard is why you will fall in love with this very brutal man.

I did want to punch Melissa a few times because I wanted to say have you NOT learned you lesson but the point of the storyline and Melissa’s character was a very fricked up individual. So .. bravo on nailing that Amo. I just wanted to bitch slap her a couple of times. There is one hot mess of holy hell coming down from The Army and its going to be a good one. You wont believe the cliffhanger in this one. My mouth dropped to the floor.

This is a great second book in this series; Im calling it a series because I highly recommend you start with 113 Scars. You wont want to miss it. There is so much more to come and I cant wait to sit on the edge of my seat and find out what fiery blaze is about to rain down next.

Great read Amo and thank you once again for the ARC! Don’t keep me waiting long please! I don’t think I can stand it.

"So I turned around. I've been copping shit for it ever since, too. The brothers think they're funny. We'll see who's laughing when a girl shows up in their life and they spend every night with their hands wrapped around their shaft with that girl's-- and only that girl's-- eyes in their thoughts.”

Hella, originally named Braxton, has survived a life not many would have. After being recruited (read, kidnapped) by The Army as a teenager, he has been involved in many horrible events. Trained as a killer, Hella is deadly. He lives his life now as a member of the same MC as Beast, who also escaped from The Army, and spends his evening entertained by any willing female.

Melissa is a woman who doesn't let any man get close. Using men as only a release, she protects herself from being ruled or taken advantage of by anyone. A talented baker, she owns a store where she sells all of her masterpieces. Being best friend to Meadow & Phoebe, Melissa found herself in the middle of some chaos and confined to the MC grounds. While there she … meets Hella, where a distaste begins to take simmer.

Through this book, we learn much more about Hella’s past and The Army. The past of all the characters is so entertained, it's amazing that they've made it this far without their pasts interfering. There were so many things this book did well!
---The sense of real danger and violence. Why is this a good thing? The events were so real. They weren't pretty or watered down--the details were all included with clarity. There were even times I had to look away because the details were so vivid. That's okay. It made the events grab hold of my heart and create a necessary terror needed to fit the climate of the story.
---Stubbornness of the characters. The pasts of these characters had no choice but to influence their current choices. Their actions were direct reflections of what they were trying to avoid, and even though most often it seemed obnoxious or unnecessary, it wasn't to them.
Interconnected histories. These characters not only have similar tragedies in their past, they're also so entwined. It's always interesting when you find someone who has a connection to your past and they help to shed light on what you didn't understand.
---Love. Beyond all the action, suspense, violence, and tragedy there was always the underlay of love happening. It wasn't hearts and flowers, candies & chocolates kind of love. It was real, sometimes ugly, often mixed with dislike. Why would love like that be enjoyable? How often do we, in our search for love, find that it isn't always a straight path down a gold-paved road? It's laced with misunderstandings, good intentions (but lack of actions), mistakes, and hurt. When love lasts, it goes past all of those negatives, in order to become a relationship that endures.
A great read if you like MC romances, mystery, and complexity. BE CAREFUL, though. This book is explicit in violence and its depiction of some events which may trigger negative memories for some people.

I knew going into this book that Hella was going to be one sick guy and I knew that I would love it. Hellraiser can be read as a stand alone but we do first meet both Hella and Melissa in One Hundred & Thirty-Six Scars.

Hella spent his childhood in and out of faster care and he was always on the run. He had to grow up early and was forced to work the streets in order to survive, leaving him a little bit emotionally cold. Then, he was taken away from the streets and forcefully turned into a killing machine. The only friends he's ever had were two people who were also forced into this type of lifestyle. At one point, they are able to separate and end up part of The Devil's Own MC, where Hella is now the VP.

One the outside, Melissa looks like your typical rich girl. She attended college and had both her parents solidly in her life. She currently owns and runs a bakery. Her best friend, Phoebe, has grown up with a MC so she too has lived around bikers for the majority of her life. There's just something from her past that continues to haunt her and has caused herself to be extremely guarded when it comes to men. She doesn't think anyone can penetrate that wall. That is until she meets Hella.

"This man was the delicious package that I should stay away from because, no doubt, it has a bomb wrapped up inside it. From a distance he was hot, but up close, he look lethal."

Their story isn't pretty. Neither one of them can deny the connection that they have with each other. However, that connection is borderline hate. They love to hate. Which, I personally love those kind of stories. The push and pull with the angst.

"A deep growl escapes Hella and the entire room is deathly silent. I'm teasing the devil and I know it, but the dark place inside me craves it."

These two are perfect for each other in the most twisted way. I'm always rooting for the bad boy who is just a little fucked up. There's just something about them that drawls to me. It's not that I want to change them or fix them. There's just something about a broken soul that can be slightly mended that gets to me. Like I said in my first statement, Hella is dark and twisted.

"You so much as look at a man too long, I'll gut him fro the inside out, fuck you in front of his dead corpse, and unload myself all over his lifeless body. Got it?"

Seriously? I must be dark and twisted because I'm loving this shit. Haha.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The only thing that kept me back a little was the fact that I felt like a lot of the story from the first book was being retold in this one and it dragged out a little long. This is perfect for someone who hasn't read the first one. You won't miss a thing if you start with Hellraiser. If you are looking for a good MC that has just a little bit more than your biker plot line, then this is for you. I can't wait for the next book!
