This is the eleventh book in the Eve Mallow series which I joined at book ten. One day I hope to have the time to read the earlier books too.

Eve and her friend Viv are staying at Saltwater Cottages, a newly opened arts and crafts centre, when an important guest speaker is murdered. Eve begins investigating who could be responsible and finds herself in a dangerous situation.

As with the previous book, I enjoyed the writing and the mystery, but felt that a little bit too much time was spent on Eve's thoughts about the case which made the book slow in parts. Still an enjoyable read and worth four stars.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Artist Nena Field has been found dead at Saltwater Cottages and Eve Mallow is determined to find her killer. Eve is with friends Viv and Viv’s brother Simon. Can Eve question the various guests who were prepared to attend art courses in order to find the guilty party?

Eve’s queries are especially important as Simon was starting a new business and a murder on the grounds simply does not look good. Although a rather adept amateur sleuth, Eve certainly has her work cut out for her because Nena was not well liked and thus there are no shortage of suspects. Not only is Eve looking for Nena’s killer, but the work of art Nena was painting has disappeared, thus increasing the challenge of Eve’s investigation.

This thoroughly engaging story is the eleventh book in the very entertaining cozy mystery series by Clare Chase. Eve is an enjoyable character and her side story with her friendships as well as her growing relationship with her beau Robin add flavor to the mystery at hand. I would be remiss if I do not mention Eve’s adorable, dachshund, Gus. I love him in these books. This one-sitting read grabbed me from the beginning and I can’t wait for Eve’s next adventure. In fact, the next book, Mystery on Meadowsweet Grove has already be slated for May 2004 and I am eager to read it.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

MYSTERY AT SALTWATER COTTAGES is the 11th book in the Eve Mallow series. This is the second book that I have read in the series and I would say that this one can be read as a stand alone with no problem. I truly enjoyed this story and now I want to go back and read the previous books in the series. It’s easy to see why Eve is everyone’s favorite sleuth and why the series has been so successful. There are several other great characters in this book as well. If you are looking for a cozy mystery, you just found a great one!

Many thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my gifted ARC.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is the 11th book in the Eve Mallow series, but can be read as a standalone story. Saltwater Cottages, is Saxford’s new arts and crafts centre, owned and operated by Simon, Eve's best friend Viv's brother. They are offering various classes in art, including a painting session by well known artist, Nena Field. Nena is a bit wild with her having affairs, drinking and making rude comments to others. While out walking her dog, Gus, Eve finds Nena's body in Blind Eye Wood, bludgeoned and left for dead. Simon is in trouble financially as the centre is shut down while the investigation goes on. Eve jumps in to help her friends with her questioning, snooping and friends to help. When another body is found, things ramp up to find a murderer before another death occurs and Simon goes bankrupt.

This was a great mystery, and I was totally engrossed in this story. Eve is a great sleuth. I love how she snoops, listens to conversations, "breaks in" to rooms to gather evidence and pretends she knows things she doesn't. She does all the things the police can't do, then passes on what she learns to her friend, the local police detective. There are a lot of suspects in this one and I was kept guessing as long as Eve was. With evidence being uncovered, each person is suspected then checked off the list, only to be added back on when she finds something else out. I thought I had it figured out, but was incorrect (I am seldom right). All the secondary characters played an important part in the story and were well developed. I love Gus, and how much he is loved by all. He also has a role in this book. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery with great characters, a well-developed mystery and one that will keep you guessing, then I recommend you pick up Mystery at Saltwater Cottages.

After Eve Mallow’s husband left her and her marriage fell apart, Eve and Gus, her beloved dachshund, moved to the coastal village of Saxford St. Peter and started a new life. A few years after this Eve is happier than she has ever been. To augment her income as a journalist specialising in obituaries, she works for her best friend, Viv, at her cafe and cake shop. Viv is an inspired baker but a chaotic organiser and Eve is a meticulous person who enjoys creating order out of Viv’s chaos. Eve has made many other good friends in the village and, best of all, has started a new, very happy relationship with Robin, who is currently away from Saxford advising the London police on a major, gang-related investigation. As part of her obituary writing, Eve has often found herself interviewing people who knew the dead person, and in the case of violent death, has found herself talking to witnesses who might turn out to be the killer. In this way Eve has helped to solve many murders and, in doing so, has roused the enmity of Detective Inspector Palmer, a lazy and blinkered detective.

One of Eve’s closest friends is Simon, Viv’s brother, a generous and considerate man. Simon is married to a frivolous young woman, Polly, whom Viv considers to be selfish and shallow. Simon has always been a successful businessman and has just bought and renovated Saltwater Cottages to open as a centre offering residential art classes. As well as superb facilities, Simon has managed to employ an artistic mega-star, Nena Field, to teach the first art classes. Unfortunately some of Simon’s other business ventures have failed and it becomes crucial that the Saltwater Cottages Arts Centre is successful or he could lose his home and the stables that he loves. Currently Polly is away in America and Simon can’t bear to tell her about his problems until he can do so face to face.

Although Eve is primarily an obituary writer, she is happy to write an article promoting Simon’s venture and joins the first classes. Unfortunately, although Nena is an outstanding artist and a surprisingly good teacher, she is also a thoroughly unpleasant person who enjoys making mischief and hurting people. She originally came from Saxford and is the same age as several of Simon’s staff. These local people have known each other and Nena throughout childhood and Nena’ relationship with many of them can only be described as toxic. Two of the senior staff have been brought in from further afield and Eve is surprised to discover that Nena also seems to know secrets about them, even though it had been assumed they have only just met. It becomes apparent that Nena was a spoiled only child who turned into a malicious, thrill-seeking woman who never took responsibility for her actions.

When Nena is discovered dead in Blind Eye Wood, Eve knows that this could close down Saltwater Cottages and destroy Simon’s hope to save his business interests and his home. Eve is determined to discover the murderer and bring them to justice before it is too late to repair the damage to the Art Centre’s reputation and save Simon’s investment. As Eve, with Viv as her eager helper, investigate they discover an abundance of motives and some convenient alibis that need close consideration, not to mention the mystery of the disappearance of the valuable art work that Nena had been working on. The violence grows more extreme and the closer Eve and Viv come to discovering the truth the greater the danger to their own lives.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is the eleventh book in the series featuring Eve Mallow. It is a consistently enjoyable series and this book is a worthy addition with an interesting plot and an engaging cast of permanent characters who form a likeable, supportive community. Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is an entertaining read which I thoroughly recommend.

"Mystery At Saltwater Cottage" is book #11 in the "Eve Mallow Mystery" series by Clare Chase

"When beautiful Saltwater Cottages opens, offering art courses in charming surroundings, Eve Mallow and best friend Viv sign up straight away. Viv’s brother Simon is in charge, and they all want him to succeed.

But from the start, Eve finds herself in a sticky situation. Famous guest artist Nena Field is a complete nightmare, painting everyone in a bad light. Then Eve has her own brush with death, and realises she must be on the right track. But what did she see or hear at Saltwater Cottages, and can she find the killer before they paint her out of the picture?"

My thoughts:
Eve Mallow is doggedly thorough in her research and interviews but also has to walk a fine line so as not to turn up on the wrong side of a killer. Not an easy balancing act!

With this latest mystery, the suspect pool seems to shift every few chapters. Some seem to be cleared but then again at least one is lying about their whereabouts the night of the murder. As information comes to light previously cleared, rise again to a higher rung on the suspect list.

Thankfully, Eve has more help with this case. Of course Viv is on board for finding the killer especially as her brother Simon's financial future is at risk. Simon is also on board to do whatever he can to help Eve. Her neighbours Sylvia and Daphne - who both have connections to the art world - are also keen to help. Robin is down in London on another case through most of the book but is frequently in touch and often passing on info to and from Greg Bole - the one officer they know they can rely on to be thorough.

Readers could be forgiven if they get a bit overwhelmed or confused with the shifting of who the killer might be. As there are a half dozen suspects, with interwoven connections (visible and hidden), there is a LOT to sort out!

Eve's brush with death - though somewhat predictable - was not nearly as frightening as when the killer is revealed and the ultimate takedown!

I honestly wasn't sure "who done it" before the reveal, but getting there was an enjoyable and unpredictably complex journey!

Holy Moly, we are now at number 11 in this series and absolutely no sign of flagging. Obviously it's always best to read a series from the start, and in order, and I do recommend you do that with this one too. Especially this one, with its rich and extremely wonderful characters and their pretty complicated backstories.
So... in this book we turn our sights back to Simon, Viv's brother, and his latest endeavour. Saltwater Cottages is Saxford's new arts and craft centre. And it is during opening week when things get a bit sticky. And by sticky, I obviously mean that someone gets murdered! Not just someone though, the deceased is famous artist Nena Field, found by main character Eve Mallow in the nearby woods. Luckily Eve has been at the centre from the start as she has been covering the opening for a magazine, so she has a head start on the police when they are called...
And... if you know the series already, you'll know what comes next. With the police floundering and taking the easy line - again! She manages to inveigle herself into the investigation by way of her main job as an obituary writer. But with Robin away in London finishing up on some personal business, she will have to take special care that she doesn't overstep the mark and poke the wrong bear...
I love this series. I love all the characters and how they all come together in adversity. And they have a LOT of practice of that. In fact, I am not sure why they haven't run Eve out of town, what with the rise in violent crimes since she appeared... But that's by the by and she's still there and investigating. One which has her, and me, completely baffled right up until she makes one key breakthrough.
Yes, the series is a bit formulaic but, you know what? It's a formula that works. One which lends itself well to the characters that the author has created. Every character, main and bit-part, series and episode. And she also gives these characters some very interesting stories to play out. All delivered with a no nonsense attitude to waffle or padding. And, without them, it gets on with itself very well indeed.
All in all, a cracking addition to an already impressive series. Roll on next time. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages, the eleventh book in Clare Chase’s Eve Mallow Mystery series is everything a British cozy mystery should be. Featuring a quaint and lively village, an intelligent and logical amateur sleuth, colorful and lovable townspeople, and, of course, a murder, this book hits all the right notes.

Obituary writer Eve Mallow steps out of her usual assignment to cover the opening of the art colony at the nearby Saltwater Cottages. Since her friend Viv’s brother Simon is in charge, the project takes on special meaning. But nothing comes easy for the art center. First a threatening note is tossed in on a brick, and it is unclear to whom the threat is aimed. Art instructor Nena appears to be a likely candidate, and it is obvious she has secrets. But the investigation takes a deadly turn when Eve finds Nena’s body in the woods. Eve must now identify a murderer in order to save Simon’s business.

This is a terrific story. The mystery takes so many twists and turns, and it seems Eve’s investigation is continually fraught with danger. The suspects all have secrets of their own, some overlapping, making it difficult for Eve to discern which one of them -- or combination – could have committed the crime. Each of the usual cast members plays a role, and I especially like how Viv has become a true confidante for Eve. With Robin out of town on a case himself and only popping in occasionally, Eve’s reliance on Viv as a sounding board for her theories seems natural and logical. And I always am eager to read about the antics of Eve’s dachshund, Gus. It’s not often that the resolution surprises me, but this one did. The novel comes to a blockbuster climax, followed by a sweet ending. I am so looking forward to the next book.

I did listen to a portion of this book on audio and found the narration worked perfectly with the tone and mood of the story. Either way, Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is another strong entry in the series. I am so looking forward to the next book!

Note: I received an ARC of Mystery at Saltwater Cottages from NetGalley and Bookouture. The above is my honest review.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages by Clare Chase is another Eve Mallow mystery. Now that Robin’s case has been satisfactorily settled, he is no longer in hiding and has moved in with Eve, not that he’s around much. The coppers in London knew his value and kept him busy, although he stayed in constant touch. Viv’s brother, Simon, was opening a new venture comprised of places to stay as well as art classes on offer. He had managed to snag a very famous artist who had grown up right here in Suffolk, Nena Field. Eve was writing a story for one of her magazines on the opening. Eve caught her early on kissing another woman’s husband, which apparently she did for sport. Sadly it was soon after that she was discovered dead in the woods, bludgeoned to death. So started the investigation, under the guise of Eve writing her high-end obituary. So many suspects.

Eve is a terrific character. Late middle-aged, divorced, and talented. She was an expert sleuth as well as an excellent journalist. She worked part-time for her friend, Viv, in the cafe, both for fun and as a way to stabilize her income stream. She had become a regular in the village and people liked her and depended on her. Simon was married to a young woman that neither Viv nor Eve cared for, but put up with was it was obvious she adored Simon. Simon had invested a lot of money in this venture which was now at risk with the murder, and hadn’t shared that with his wife. Could Eve solve this one with Robin in London and detective Palmer in charge of the case?
It was a good adventure. It is always interesting when one discovers a sociopath on one’s own village. Good, ongoing characters and a good mystery with an interesting back story. I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Mystery at Saltwater Cottages by Bookoutre, through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Bookoutre #ClareChase #MysteryAtSaltwaterCottages

This is the 11th book featuring Eve Mallow, a freelance writer and while it could probably be read as a standalone, I think you would get more enjoyment from the book if you have read at least a couple of the earlier books.
Eve has been commissioned to write a magazine article on a newly opened Arts centre near her home. However, before she can even begin to write her article, a murder is committed. As the centre is owned by a close friend, Eve feels a personal involvement and starts to carry out her own investigation.
I really enjoyed the mystery in this book. The murder victim was fairly unpleasant which meant that there were several possibilities for the murderer as well as a couple of complete red herrings just to make things even more murky. There is a wide range of motives too from spurned lover to a mysterious event in the victim’s past which added to the complexity of the plot.
Eve’s character is extremely likeable and I have always thought that the author’s choice of profession for her was clever in that it gave her a real reason to go around asking questions. However, in this latest book, I did find the amount of help that she got from the local police very unrealistic. I know that all amateur detective novels are unbelievable to a certain extent but this seemed to take things to extreme. I’m fairly sure that any police officer immediately contacting a member of the public with details of the investigation would rapidly lose their job.
Having said that, this was an excellent mystery with some interesting characters and was a very pleasant way to spend an Autumn evening.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers, Bookouture, for providing my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Eve’s friend Simon is in desperate financial straits and needs his latest venture to be a success. He has launched a new arts centre in Saltwater Cottages and arranged a high profile artist to give classes. But Nena has enemies and is soon found dead. Can Eve catch the killer and save her friend’s business…?
Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is the 11th book to feature Eve Mallow who combines obituary writing with amateur sleuthing.
Eve is trying to support her friend Simon and organises to write an article for the magazine she works for. She is usually an obituary writer and her skills for that genre of news is soon required. Nena Field is a famous artist who grew up in the local area and has now returned. She is having an affair with a married man and causing upset wherever she goes. No one expected her to be murdered though!
There are a host of suspects established in the opening chapters as Nena puts noses out of joint and upsets others. This also means there are several potential motives as well for Eve to uncover. She is ably assisted by her beloved dog Gus as always, but her boyfriend Robin is away in London so she can only phone him for support.
I was kept guessing about the culprit and their motive, and enjoyed watching the case unfold. Eve is a great character and I like the way she has developed her investigating skills over the series of books.
Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is an enjoyable cosy murder mystery.

Eve Mallow and best friend Viv have booked a stay at Saltwater Cottages, the new arts and crafts centre in Saxford, which is run by Viv’s brother, Simon. They are determined to help it become the success it deserves to be especially as a number of local residents are employed there.

After a body is found in nearby Blind-Eye Wood, Eve knows she has to find out who is responsible before Simon’s dream is ruined. With all her suspects seemingly having alibis, while the victim appeared to be almost universally disliked, Eve realises she has to cast her net wider. So when the killer strikes even closer to home she's sure they're getting worried but doesn't know why. Can Eve solve the case before she joins the list of victims herself?

The eleventh Eve Mallow book is another enjoyable read but does have some similarities to a recently released book in the same series. The main protagonists are all present and I love reading the exchanges between them whether it's to do with the case or not. This is a series I look forward to reading each time a new book is released. I hope that continues for a long time to come.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Bookouture, but the opinions expressed are my own. Another good addition to this lovely cosy crime series. Recommended.

The eleventh outing for Eve & whilst it could easily be read on its own I’ve loved getting to know the residents of Saxford. There are plenty of suspects, as well as secrets, revenge, twists & turns to keep you guessing. I also loved that the whole village was routing for Eve to solve the crime & to help save Simon’s new venture. Robin, now Eve’s partner, is away consulting on a case in London but is still is regular contact & offers help & advice. For once I did guess who the murderer was, but it was a guess. Another well written page turner, which I thoroughly enjoyed & look forward to sharing in Eve’s future in further books
My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I've become a real fan of the Eve Mallow mystery series. In this episode Simon, the brother of Eve's friend and employer Viv, has invited many of the villagers to the festive opening of his new venue, the Saltwater cottages.
The Saltwater cottages are an upstage holiday complex that also organises art classes.
Eve and Viv are staying at the complex and Eve is supposed to write an article about the complex and the classes in order to give it good publicity.

When Eve is taking her loyal dachshund Gus out for a walk in the morning in the woods she discovers the body of Nena Field, the famous artist in residence who is supposed to give some glamour to the whole project and bring in a lot of customers.
Eve discovers right from the start that Nena was not a very likeable person so there is no shortage of suspects. However, it does seem that quite a few of them have alibis, or do they? When there is a second murder victim Eve is making an extra effort to discover who the killer is and help her friend Simon to get his business back on track. In the meantime Simon and Viv do their best to keep Eve safe while Robin is in London.
This was another very interesting and exiting episode. I really am getting fond of all the usual villagers and friends that surround Eve, and of-course I love Gus, but then I've always been very fond of dachshund's.

I've been reading this wonderful series on and off for a while now and I can't quite believe that we're on book eleven! The series shows no signs of petering out anytime soon, which I'm glad about.

Obituary writer and amateur sleuth Eve Mallow is asked to write the obituary for infamous artist Nena Field after she is found murdered near Saltwater cottages where she was teaching. There's no shortage of suspects, making it tough for Eve to figure out whodunnit!

Eve is still her likeable yet nosy self, determined to find the killer no matter what. This time she puts herself in harm's way to help her friend Simon, who is having some financial issues made worse by the fact there was a murder at Saltwater Cottages, which he owns.

What I loved about this book was there were so many suspects, each with an equally strong motive to want Nena dead. This meant I was guessing until almost the end to who might have been the culprit, which I always find enjoyable.

If you like a good cozy mystery that has a slower pace and classic mystery vibe, then I highly recommend the Eve Mallow series to you.

Saltwater Cottages is a brand new arts and crafts center in the beautiful picturesque Saxford. They finally open their doors for some amazing art courses. Eve Mallow and her best friend Viv are the first to sign up. But when guest artist Nena Field’s body is found, the art classes will have to wait. Eve Mallow with her super sleuthing skills jumps into action. Eve begins to question all the attendees, and with the help of her friend Viv, they are running out of time and must find the killer before it’s too late.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages written by author Clare Chase, is a wonderful addition to the Eve Mallow Mystery Series. This wonderful whodunnit was a fantastic addition to this great series. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end and with the plot twists and turns, the author kept me flying through the pages. I love Gus, the dachshund, an amazing addition to the story line. This wonderful cozy mystery is one that I enjoyed very much and look forward to Eve Mallow’s next adventure. This cozy mystery can be enjoyed as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading this series.

Freelance writer Eve Mallow thinks she has a break from the usual obituaries when she is hired to write a promotional piece about Saltwater Cottages, the new arts and crafts resort owned by her friend Viv’s brother. She realizes she is wrong when she discovers the body of famous artist Nena Field. What follows is a suspenseful blend of blackmail, threats, hidden identities, adultery and yes, another murder. Eve, missing the help of her partner Robin who is temporarily working in London, tries to unravel the secrets hidden at Saltwater Cottages but it will take a surprise clue and a brush with death before the murderer is revealed.

Mystery at Saltwater Cottages is the 11th in the excellent Eve Mallow series and everything a cozy mystery should be. While the location of Saxford St. Peter still dominates, most of the action takes place in Saltwater Cottages. As usual, the characters are well described and memorable and the plot is satisfyingly complicated. 5 stars.

For Eve finding her murdered body was quite tough.

As always, Eve and her friends cannot resist
Looking for clues that the police might have missed.

Eve Mallow is back again and, unsurprisingly, I envoyed her new sleuthing adventure as much as the previous 10.
This time, it's a famous artist who's been killed, and as usual several suspects have secrets that may or may not be linked to the murder.
As I said last time, "Usual pattern, new set of suspects with interesting secrets - another success, in my opinion". I'm sure I'm not the only reader who's still not getting tired of following Eve as she gathers clues while interviewing people for another famous murder victim's obituary.
New readers could easily enjoy this book too, and it wouldn't spoil the ending of any of the others but would reveal the secret of one suspect from the first, so I still recommend to start with the first book (unless you really don't mind partial spoilers). After that, the reading order is less important.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Viv's brother Simon invested heavily in a new business which employs local townspeople and promises to bring tourists to Saxford St. Peter. But things suddenly go from bad to worse when financial disaster threatens and normally confident Simon is having trouble coping with all his problems. Viv and Eve vow to do whatever it takes to help him get through this. Then the popular guest artist, a young woman who grew up in the area is found dead, the victim of a cruel blow to the head. Simon's business is forced to close temporarily causing him to lose income he desperately needs. The victim was hated by almost everyone around her so finding the killer is going to be difficult. Eve, Viv and Simon work together to solve the mystery.
This was an excellent book. I really did not know who the murderer was until they were revealed by the author.

The woman who got murdered was the sort who delighted in causing problems for others and flaunting them. There was no lack of suspects but a distinct absence of proof. The characters are always so clearly drawn, the twists surprising, and the red herrings sneaky. The publisher's blurb is pretty good, so no need for a recap on that. Loved it!
Eve Mallow is a character that draws you in with her personality, honest journalism in writing obits for select famous people, her sleuthing, and (of course) her delightful dachshund.
This is not an unbiased review as I love this series and the work of this author!
I requested and received an uncorrected advance review e-book copy from Bookouture via NetGalley. Thank you!

The latest in the Eve Mallow series has Eve investigating a murder at a new arts-focused resort run by a friend. Things quickly get complicated with secret pasts, affairs, and another murder. The mystery itself is well-plotted, with lots of twists and turns that keep Eve and friends busy. The writing is good and largely avoids the questions about motivation that plague some amateur sleuth stories. There are some notable developments in Eve’s personal life as well. I would highly recommend reading at least some of the preceding books to fully understand the characters and relationships. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've only read the first book in the series and now this one, so maybe that's skewing my view of this book? I like Eve and Viv and the mystery itself. My low score for the book comes from the fact that it feels like Eve is simply a character meant to solve the crime. She seems to have NO outside life or things going on other than trying to solve the crime. So for me, that makes her feel very one-dimensional. Even if this weren't a cozy and Eve was a professional detective, I would want more of a sense of her whole life outside just solving the case. It's a shame, because I do like many aspects of the book.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and book #11 in the Eve Mallow series but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the story. I would say it can be read as a standalone no problem.
I did enjoy this story and the character of Eve is very likeable.
Eve is staying at Saltwater Cottages when she discovers a body and starts to find out who is responsible for the murder.
There are plenty of twists and red herrings to keep you guessing.
It’s a lovely easy mystery to read. Would recommend.

Good but...

It is a big but too. It really is becoming very tedious the way Eve always gets caught by the killer and is either held at knife point, gun point, threatened with being drowned, burnt or otherwise left to die somewhere. Please find another way of getting to the conclusion, because the poor woman is in danger of being thought a complete dunderhead! She is a danger not just to herself but the people that have go and find her. Other than that the book was great and would have warranted 5 stars but for Eve's irritating ability to get caught every time!

Sorry but I think first of all that this book could have done with some serious editing. Eve going round asking the same people the same questions page after page. The books are also getting rather formulaic.

A pity because I enjoyed the earlier books. I couldn't finish the previous one and struggled to finish this.

So book eleven sees the return of the characters from Saxford St Peters and for me it now feels like your catching up with old friends and have no doubt were Eve is involved murder is sure to follow.

One of my favourite things about this series is the characters, Clare has a talent of describing and delivering her characters so that you can visually see them coming to life on the page.

Another delightful edition to this cosy amateur sleuth series.

I did not like this one as much as the others. All of the characters who were employees seemed interchangeable and they were not developed enough to care about them. Robin is barely part of the story and now they are getting married. It would be nice to have a book or two of them living together and have their relationship develop a bit. Viv's brother, from prior books seemed to be more wealthy than it showed here.

This is the 11th book in the series and I'm still as enthralled as when I read the first book. Eve M allow is one of my favorite protagonists. She's smart, charming and devoted to her friends. This book is full of descriptive scenery and locations and well developed characters. I'll look forward to book 12! An utterly brilliant cozy series!! I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher and I'm giving an honest review.
