This princess story centers on the young black-dressed princess Hime who happens to be a merciless warrior vampire with her faithful servant, little Flandre by her side. We also meet awkward teenager Hiro who is tragically killed by a truck when he plans to visit his little sister, and to a big surprise he is resurrected by Hime who also makes him her new servant. While trying to get used to his new life, our characters will find themselves in plenty of killer and spooky situations.

A fun and adventurous fantasy manga about scary monsters that definitely reminded me of “Rosario + Vampire” and “High School DXD”. For the most of it, there’s plenty of humor, action and even some serious moments that any manga lover will enjoy. Though I do hope that our zombie princess will have a more softer side later. B+ (83%/Very Good)

With Princess Resurrection, we have a story we've seen a thousand times: Hapless but genial high school boy meets random sexy tsundere supernatural princess; hijinks ensue. I'd like to say that there is something even remotely original here but I honestly got bored by the repetition before I even got to the middle of the book. The writing is lazy and characters pretty cardboard. It's not that there is a mystery set up that we will learn more later; rather, it feels like a story written by someone who can't be bothered to create more distinct characters or worldbuilding.

Story: Hiro arrives at a new school to be with his sister who got a job as a maid. But he is run over by a car and killed - until a woman gives him her blood and tells him he is now her servant. Our 'zombie' boy must drink her blood every few days in order to still survive. Along with her pet robot child and his sister the maid, Hiro and crew battle monsters who want to take out 'princess resurrection.'

The story makes absolutely no sense (which probably doesn't bother most manger readers, admittedly) and hops around all over the place. Pacing is very off and the attempts at humor are very bland. It feels very monster of the week and the running gag of Hiro getting killed off every chapter gets old fast.

The artwork is fine - nothing original here or even that interesting. Fans of stories where average-joe boy has to be enslaved by an imperious princess type will likely love this story. Everyone else may soon get very disenchanted.

It's like an isekai where someone is hit by a truck and reincarnates in another world except instead of being reincarnated the guy is brought back to life as a semi-immortal servant to some blood princess girl thing. There's something about her and her siblings trying to kill each other, and different monsters being hired to work for and kill each other, but really there's nothing that makes it special. Art can be fun sometimes, crude and disjointed at others. It's almost horror, but never really tries to be scary unless you think the very idea of having vampires or werewolves in your book makes it scary.

Hopefully in further volumes the art improves, and/or the writing finally finds a plot worth talking about.

After being hit by a truck, a boy is resurrected as the servant of a powerful vampire-like princess, and then drawn into her battles. I found Flandre, her tiny but indestructible robot servant, who can use a tree as a cudgel and stop a chainsaw with her bare hands, quite amusing.

Would've slapped when we were a teenager, but unfortunately we've already been given the several fetishes this would've given us. Art's trying to be stylistic but feels a little too simple and there's some questionable shots. Lettering in the Del Rey version is pretty awful. idk part of us wanted to give volume 2 a try but protag's sister having huge breasts with "bouncy" SFX is just killing any desire to go on.

I can tell there is something deeper about Hime that we’ll uncover as the manga continues but I’m not really hooked in at this point. The first volume was free with unlimited on comiXology so it was fine for a free read but I don’t think I’ll keep going. The plot is pretty standard for a comedy battle manga, it’s probably a manga I would have liked in middle school.

The story starts with the two main characters meeting and then more characters are introduces. The volume ends with Liza joining the squad

Entertaining enough. To me it was more of a horror-themed action comic than actual horror.

Lots of blood but no guts; this is mostly a sort of harem story about a girl gathering allies, and her hapless male minion.

This is a series of short stories. They make little sense although the fourth is decent. The art is good in places. I'm glad I stopped at 1 volume.

Synopsis: Werewolves, demons, monsters, vampires. All these ferocious creatures are afraid of the same thing: Princess Hime, a gothic lolita warrior who fights off the forces off evil with a chainsaw, a wicked smile, and cutting remarks. Did I mention she also looks great in a tiara, and has magical powers that allow her to raise the dead? The story so far actually revolves around her undead servant, Hiro, who she resurrects after he is killed in a car crash. However, it's obvious the real star is Hime, and with Hiro and a supercute robot, named Flan, she kills the supernatural creatures her siblings send after her.

I didn't know what to expect from Princess Resurrection when I first picked it up, but I'm a sucker for gothic lolitas that kick ass (see Venus Versus Virus for another example). I'm interested in seeing how volume 2 plays out, but volume 1 was a lot of fun. Full of action and interesting characters, the plot unwinds a little slowly, but it feels like it's building out the world Hime lives in to give us a larger background. I already love Flan, Hime's robot sidekick, and Liza Wildman, the half-werewolf who attacks Hime because she mistakenly believes that Hime murdered her brother.

The series is shaping up to be a lot of fun, and I recommend it for when you're looking for something good that isn't too heavy of a read.

Princess Resurrection: Volume 1 is a fun book that I really enjoyed. I love the fact that Hiro keeps getting killed and Hime has to keep resurrecting him. Flandre is a cool, little character that only ever says, "Hooba." She looks like such a sweet little girl, but she is strong as an ox. Riza is a pretty neat character and has all the the makings to be a memorable individual.

As for Hiro, he is my favorite character in this manga book of the occult. He is just a boy struggling to fit in, but keeps dying. This made me laugh. There is a lot of killing in the book, but it is written in a fairly light manner.

The artwork by Yasunori Mitsunaga is not very detailed, but it works for this series.

As for the princess, she is a great character. We learn that she is vying for the throne and is up against all of her siblings, but we haven't yet met any of them, or anyone in the royal family. Maybe this will happen in future books.

The translation and adaptation from Japanese into English is well done and the story flows nicely. I found that I highly enjoyed reading this book.

Overall, Princess Resurrection: Volume 1 is an excellent beginning to a series that shows a lot of potential. I high anticipate reading Princess Resurrection: Volume 2. It should be packed with evil creatures out for a night of killing. Let's hope so. Who needs Buffy the Vampire Slayer when you have Princess Resurrection?

I rated this book a 9 out of 10.

This is weird series, it's a mix of horror, slice-of-life, drama, action, and comedy. Yes, there's a central plot of factions in a battle royale for the last one standing to be an immortal king, but it's more of a scaffold to set up the characters and the setting. You're almost more likely to se a chapter fighting a classic horror cameo than you are to see the royal royale happen. There's a lot of references to different horror works which can be fun to recognize, but it can feel rather disjointed with all those genre mashups, parallel timelines, time travel, alternate universes, and that few chapters connect in any obvious plot. The characters are deeper than what you get in most gag series, but there's not much more. It's a bit like if Franken Fran got a Shonen battle manga organ transplant.

Despite all that, I have fun with it and like the universe(s) it built. It does have some weird obligatory fanservice, namely a vampire who has an upskirt shot every appearance among others, but there's little (if any) romance. I think the fact that it's a mix of slice-of-life comedy and horror reference vignettes with Easter egg story clues that keep it from feeling stale even on this fifth full series reread.

On a side note, this might be my favorite work that involves multiverses and time travel (that isn't a pure comedy).

Well I can honestly say that this read was extremely underwhelming! Reading this first volume I couldn’t help feeling like I’ve heard this story so many times already and quite frankly, I’m bored of it. We have the lead, a high school who dies and is resurrected by a princess. He subsequently becomes her servant and fights all manner of classic monster (I mean how can you have a supernatural story without vampires and werewolves??). This volume is a series of fights that end all too quickly with no really special elements. We barely find out anything about the characters and the art is as to be expected. I really do hope this story gets better because this first volume is distinctly average and forgettable.

princess resurrection photo: oujo02.gif

Lillianne has blood that will make people semi mortal only if they continue drinking her blood but don't compare her to those bloody vampires. Hiro gets hit by a wagon that flandre was stirring also flandre is an android. He's dying and she gives him blood then he wakes up from the morgue. Then if and Invisible man invades your mansion just burn the mansion and cut him in half with a chainsaw.

I did not like this manga on the first try and had to start for a second time after waiting for several weeks. Well, if you get accustomed to the style of this manga (that is quite wierd), it's really enjoyable. There's lots of blood but somehow it's more funny than creepy. I have to buy second volume soon.

I don't know that this is all that good, but I like it a lot. I mean, how can you go wrong with werewolves, undead, and androids that say "hooba"?
